I have downloaded 5.0 for Mac today and it won't open but says it's open. It also won't quit so I can re-start. Cannot use!

I can't launch the new 5.0. It won't quit from the dock either so I can restart and I'm unable to use it. I've used Firefox for years so I know how to use the program.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
when you have booted into OSX go to System Preferences - Startup Volume and choose your OSX partition as the default startup.
Do the needed restart and your iMac should boot into OSX without the Option key.
As for your Windows installation: was it ever successful or did the black screen error message came up during installation ?

     Press the "Delete All" button.
     Install Adobe Flash Player.

   Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
   If it doesn’t quit, Force Quit it.
   Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
   When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.

   Application will quit.
    Follow the prompts and install it.
    Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

If you are getting the 'open' option on the Purchased tab in the App Store app then that implies that you still have the app installed - you've checked all of your iPod's homescreens and app folders for it, and tried searching for it via its spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) ? Do any of those find it, or if you tap on the 'open' button does that open the app ?

Every time I open a new tab I am sent to the Ad-aware Secure Serch page. I have downloaded the New Tab add-on and the NewTabURS add-on but neither of them work.

Every new tab opens to the Ad-aware SecureSearch page. When a new tab was opened I used to get a page with my most used sites. I have tried to find and remove this program but nothing I have used will find it. Can you check what version you are running? If you are able to open Photoshop, go Help, About Photoshop. If it does not say 14.2.1 then you need to update it.
Same thing with the Desktop Application manager which is currently at 1.5.1.369 (click on the cog icon > Preferences > Account)
If the Desktop Application manager thinks Photoshop is up to date and it isn't, quite and sign back in again.
Make those checks, and if still in trouble, come back and tell us what operating system you are using.

I have downloaded Firefox 6.. tried 7, and it will not connect once I attempt to open it initially. It comes up with blank boxes and notation states "waiting on firefox".. not sure what to do

I had an issue with firefox opening zygna games on facebook last week. I uninstalled firefox and reloaded it. Actually tried it last week a few times and today tried Firefox 7 and then Firefox 6, which i now have on computer. When it goes to open initially, the screens come up blank. There is a little popup that I believe asks if i should set firefox as main browser, however no dialogue in the box. The notation on my computer says "waiting for firefox" and it just sits there.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Sounds like you have VoiceOver (one of the accessibility features) 'on'. Try triple-clicking the home button and see if that turns it off, and if it does you can then change what a triple-click does via Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut (or Triple-Click Home depending upon the iOS version).
If that doesn't turn it off then you can either turn it off directly on the iPad (you need to use a tap-to-select and then double-tap to activate/type process and 3 fingered scrolling) to go into Settings > General > Accessibility and turn VoiceOver 'off', or you can do it by connecting to your computer's iTunes (after typing in your passcode via the tap/double-tap process) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4064

I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8. The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.

In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6. (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13. Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter. There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.
