well i've just got off the phone to apple and spoke to the same person 4 times now in 1 day (the english guy) he said that the aftercare team are all american. and you know i said she said at&t, well she said TNT (the delivery company) so i got my wires crossed.
the customer service guy put me through to the same american woman i spoke to last time to check my details, as soon as i started speaking to her my credit ran out DOH!!!
anyway hopefully that should be problem solved, but knowing my luck i'm not counting on it

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".

Also, I can't add any new songs to the same library. It saves them elsewhere. I have had the previous version on another computer and it worked just fine. Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

Yes, this is very frustrating. OK, I have a lot of songs on my iPod and in iTunes that were transferred from CDs. Only the 'purchased' songs from iTunes show up on my phone, not the 3,000+ songs I physically downloaded from said CDs. On the screen of my iPhone, the songs are in grey and next to it in red is a circle with a square inside (similar to when you download an APP) but it won't download. I am now trying the 'home sharing' that I found in an old post and syncing the phone, again, to see if that helps. I think I am going to have to make a trip to an Apple store. How have you got the iPod set to update? If you are updating manually then drag what you want from the library to the iPod icon. If it's set to update automatically you just need to connect the iPod and iTunes wiil do the rest.

The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

You need to contact iTunes Customer Support.
I had the exact same problem and they gave me a full refund so I could download the movies again.
The cause is at Apple's end and you can't fix it from yours.
