I have downloaded Firefox update 3 times and continue to be told that I have an uprotected/outdated form and need an update. Why?

I see that others have the same problem, but I see no answers to explain or fix the constant "you need to update your Firefox" request. I am using an HP mini with Windows 7.

For whatever reason, you still have Firefox 3.6. Let's do this:
Go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com]. Download the new Firefox installer. Close Firefox, then run the installer. It will install over Firefox 3.6 and upgrade it. Then, reopen firefox. You should be all up to date now! (If you click on the Firefox button, then go to the arrow next to help, then About Firefox, you can verify you are on version 12

Where are my bookmarks and tools? I have downloaded Firefox a 2nd time and they don't appear to be anywhere that I can see.

When I turned on my computer this morning {it's a laptop with windows bought in 2007 and no it doesn't have vista} I noticed most everything was gone from my bar at the top of the page. It has a line with home and stop and reload current page and my Amazon button from yesterday. No bookmarks and no tools. In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

Do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

Firefox now asks permission to open each time I click the icon. I have shut off the computer and on several times. I then re-installed the browser but still it asks permission to open.
It seems to work again but can I get rid of opening permission request please? I may have 2 versions of the browser in the computer or the new program did not replace the old?

I only had Internet Explorer on this new( to me) PC and wanted to download FireFox. It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

i downloaded firefox update, had nothing but troubles since, computer crashing when i try to open, or cursor lag for a long time ie. i try to move to do something it has to think about for 30 seconds to having to pushing reset to get anthing hapening
but still freezes up i put my comp into a very good repair store cost me $119 to only to find no problem with computer, they had it running ,burning , doing everything properly, but they were using ie, as soon as i stoped that and went to firefox, back to lag etc. com bluescreen then crashing when i got home twice so far tried using previous version in system same problem, how do i send my bookmarks from firefox to ie on this system, so i can completely uninstall then reistall a fresh earlier version

Turn off updating to keep your good working version or you will be forced to use the new version that is missing some well used features.

Ok, let's first try to update your Firefox. Go to [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], download the latest version of Firefox, and install it. Then try downloading what you tried before.
If it doesn't work, Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.

Double-click the white Adobe Reader Icon to open a new windows.
Double-Click the "Adobe Reader X Installer.pkg" file inside.
If it has already been installed it will notify you and say that it has been installed already.
If you no longer have those files go here to get the latest version of Adobe Reader.

It sounds to me from researching the other white 'icon' you have that you are trying to install a copier by the brand of Rico Aficio.
Possibly the Aficio 2090/2105.
If so the install CD/Driver download for that copier must have also wanted you to install Adobe Reader to view the User Guides/ Documentation included.
If you are trying to install said device then double click the white icon labeled Ricoh_Aficio...double click the installer file inside of that.
It should run a setup/install window like Adobe Reader did then go from there. If it has already been install also you can go to your System Preferences -> Printers to see if it installed correctly and is working properly.
You can get to system preferences by clicking the Apple icon very upper left on your screen and selecting it from the drop down.
