If Pages and the other applicatioins installed in the Applications in the root directory they can be used by everyone. By default all programs installed by the App store are installed in the Applications folder in the root. In other words, your family members should be able to use the programs. Can they not?

Did you use the mac app store? If so, you downloaded it for a Mac.

I have a new macbook and downloaded the firefox browser but i can't open the .dmg file. Window pops up saying not recognized.

Setting up my new macbook pro and I went to install the firefox download currently available on the mozilla site and I double-click the firefox .dmg download file and a window pops up and says "The following disk images cannot be opened. Firefox20-1.0.dmg. Reason: not recognized.
Nothing else comes up as an option.
What should I do?

Where are you downloading the app from?
The only one I can find is for iOS based devices > Blockbuster On Demand for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

This makes no sense... if it's not on the phone, it's not on the phone. A search of the device would never find it.
Is the issue possible that the app is simply on another home screen or in a folder? Have you possibly filled the 11 page max of home screens?
