I have downloaded the updates on my macbook air but when i restart my computer it says can not install updates due to an unexpected error????

i have downloaded the updates for my macbook air and when i restart the computer it says that they can not be installed because and error occured i have tried 3 times

A common hangup for updates is corrupted file permissions.
Using Disk Utility, perform a Repair Disk Permissions on your main drive, then re-attempt the update.
