I have downloaded Yosemite and want to delete it it possible off my mac, I previously had Mountain Lion which I liked.  I hate Yosemite, the dock looks terrible.

I have downloaded Yosemite and want to delete it, is this possible?

I also think the computers are over priced and over rated,, its all about profit with this company, they dis-regard customers comments and I have read all the feedback regarding Yosemite...Yosemite looks cheap, is slow, and the classy stand alone image is now gone with this computer.....would I purchase another of these comps?? the answer is NO, for the various reasons..1.. if you have a problem with the computer a service engineer will not come to your premises, the customer has to take there machine to the nearest store,, which in my case will be over an hours drive away,,  2..The recent update has not only put me off buying any further computers, I also would never recommend these to a friend or business associate,, 3rd,,The manufacturer never listen to the customer they just think of the profit,, so next year I will be choosing an alternative computer supplier.

I have 2 accounts and want to delete/remove one.  How do I do this?

Look at Store > Purchased > Apps for each of the accounts in turn.
Media isn't really a problem, but as you've no doubt discovered updating apps from multiple accounts is unnecessarily complicated.

'm trying to download mountain lion, I've got an icon in the dock saying "OSX Mountain Lion waiting..." What is it waiting for? I can't seem to find any context menu or information.

I got it to download by going to the App Store, Purchases, and download.
This was after a false start thanks to Apple Help (total misnomer) which sent me to iTunes.
It is an amazingly slow download, so pack a lunch.
    Thanks everyone.

  • I mistakenly downloaded MacKeeper and want to delete.  Any suggestions?  It isn't making it easy to get rid of.  Thanks!

I downloaded MacKeeper and haven't used it.  I saw negative reviews and want to delete.  However, it won't allow me to drag to the trash bin.  Assistance?  Suggestions? Thanks!

DO NOT delete the MacKeeper application in the shell.
Remove the "MacKeeper" crapware as follows. First, back up all data.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Then a dialog will pop up asking why you want to uninstall it. You don't have to provide that information. Enter anything you like in the text box, then click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Do not try to uninstall by dragging the MacKeeper icon in the Dock or the LaunchPad to the Trash.
Here are some general suggestions. If you want your computer to be usable, don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” "tune-ups," “accelerators,” “extenders,” “cleaners,” “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, this kind of material is useless, or worse than useless.
The more actively promoted the product, the more likely it is to be garbage. The most extreme example is the “MacKeeper” scam.
The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

  • I think I might have downloaded malware and want to know if there is a program I can run on my computer to look for malware

I was on a website and a tab with another website that looked sketch came onto my screen. I couldn't exit the page and a message appeared on my screen saying something about safeguarding my mac and in a panic I just clicked "Okay" because there were no other options. The popup message did not say anything about a download, but immediately something downloaded to my computer so right away, without looking at it, I moved whatever had downloaded from my downloads into my trash and then emptied my trash. I know I should have read the message or tried to force quit my browser but I panicked and am now concerned I may have downloaded some type of malware. I am aware that there are no mac viruses "in the wild" but am concerned I may have downloaded spyware or a trojan. I was borrowing a family members computer and they do not know if they had any antivirus software but I am assuming because they do not know that they do not have any sort of security downloaded other than what comes with the mac. I was wondering if there is some sort of program I could run to check for malware and what I should do with the computer in the meantime, like maybe have it shut off? And in the case of some sort of malware, does that mean I need to get a new computer? I'm just scared and know I should have been smarter about the situation but now I don't know what to do.

It's not malware. It's a JavaScript scam that only affects your web browser, and only temporarily.
Some of those scam pages can be dismissed very easily. Press command-W to close the tab or window. A huge box will pop up. Press the return key and both the box and the page will close. If that doesn't happen, continue.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and uncheck the box marked Enable JavaScript. Leave the preferences dialog open.
Close the malicious window or tab.
Re-enable JavaScript and close the preferences dialog.
If the Preferences menu item is grayed out, quit Safari. Force quit if necessary. Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

  • I downloaded ios8 and want to delete ibooks and health apps.

How do I delete apps such as ibooks that came with ios8? There is no "x" using the usual method. Thanks.

Thanks. Apple has gone down many notches in my book for this behavior.
In order to download ios8 I had to remove some apps and stored music to gain enough space. After downloading the ios8 I find that I have automatically received several apps - FOR WHICH I HAVE NO CHOICE - that take up storage space, thus limiting what I can choose to have on my iphone 5s. This is far too "big brother" for me and will certainly make me consider a different phone when I need to replace this one.
    Shame on Apple.
I went to that site and filled out the form but couldn't find any submit button guaranteeing that Apple won't receive feedback. Down another several notches.

  • Why doesn't the App store recognise that I already have Facetime installed and want me to repurchase it?

Why doesn't the App store recognise that I already have Facetime installed and want me to repurchase it?  I also canot upgrade from V3 to V 1.02?

For some reason the Apple servers are having an issue retaining the bank card's CVV code (three digit security code) in the payment method area. Every time I run into an issue, whether in the iTunes Store or the Mac App Store, when I check my account info the CVV code has been missing every time!
Try resolving the problem from iTunes, you have more access to your account details in iTunes. Sometimes it seems that when there is a problem with incorrect or incomplete information regarding your method of payment the Mac App Store's warnings get confusing.
Open iTunes, enter the iTunes Store, then log in and review your account information. Make sure that the billing address is correct and that if needed, the CVV code, the three digit security code from your bank card, is correct. On your way out reset the notifications.

I have Pages 09.  I have created custom templates and want to delete them.  How do I delete a template I have created in Pages 09?

Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The door to the user's Library is hidden in Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your users Library will appear about halfway down the list.

  • I have QT Pro 7.6.6 and want to delete all audio (5 tracks) from a selected in-out section of a .mov file. Then, add new audio. How do I do that?

I have QT Pro 7.6.6 and want to delete all audio (5 tracks) from a selected in-out section of a .mov file. Then, add new audio. How do I do that?

If I 1) knew TeX well enough to fix it, and 2) could get the guy to answer the phone or email so as to give me the sourcecode or to fix it himself, I wouldn't have bothered figuring out that the thing could be fixed one page at a time by a) getting a copy of acrobat pro, b) figuring out how to turn on all of the extra toolkits, c) finding the edit object button in randomly named toolkit, d) right clicking on the chapter title and selecting the e) ever so obvious "delete clip" menu selection.
At this point I would absolutely love to never have to touch an adobe product again in my life, but my hand has been dealt and if I'm going to print the manual for a software library that we've spent a cumulative $70,000 for, I have to figure this out and I really don't want to have to hit [Page Down], [Ctrl] + [A], Right click, delete clip for >700 pages.
I felt certain that once I'd figured out how to shift the pages down using ghostscript so first two lines of each page weren't getting cut off in the printer non-printable region, and finally figured out this that a relatively simple scripting solution would be immediately apparant.  I mean, there are APIs for both applescript and javascript, but I'm mystified by how to get to the edit object feature from within them, much less how to tell that feature to delete clips for everything on a page.
