I have downloads that have errors in them but the music is not in the cloud

I downloaded an album in Itunes but the download was interrupted. Much of the album is missing but the download status is complete, It does not have the "Cload" icon attached to it yet, so I can't download it from the cload. What can I do to fix this?

Resuming downloads from a computer
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
Click the "Check Downloads" button.
Click the Resume or Resume All button, or the resume arrow to resume the download.
If you believe that the item downloaded completely but it is not appearing in the Purchased playlist, click Library on the left side of iTunes to see if the item appears there.
You can also check your purchases to download it from there as well.

If you do have your iTunes content stored in a backup somewhere, on your iPod, or the hard drive it was originally on is no longer available, I'm afraid you are out of luck.

They seem to be word files - they will open if I choose "open with" microsoft word, but if I double click they don't open they are appearing as PDF on my screen. I even opened one and then tried to "save as" making sure I chose .doc and they still appear as PDF

I would also recommend checking the installation logs for the updates you are attempting to apply for errors. I'm having a similar problem, but different circumstances. Someone gave me their iPod nano to load with tunes. I, myself, don't own an iPod, and the flimsy booklet that came with this device is pointless -- no real info. Anyway, once it was charged, I chose tunes from my library to upload to the iPod, but the entire library began to load (not just the checked selections). I made several attempts to resolve this, including an attempt to restore the iPod to its original settings. Unfortunately, now the computer and iTunes will not recognize this iPod (when iTunes is open and iPod is connected, iPod does not appear in source list, and desktop only reads the device as "iPod", as opposed to what it was originally reading it as) and I can't even get back to the part of iTunes that asks me if I want to restore the iPod. Do I have to bring this to an Apple store, or is there anyone out there who can tell me how to resolve this? I tried the "5 R's" recommended by Apple, but they don't seem to work.

Click the Advanced pane. iTunes displays the location of your iTunes Media folder.

Use the Reset button to reset it's location to the default (which is the iTunes folder).
Click the Change button to select a folder for a new location. Once you change this location:
If you make a new or alternate iTunes library, the new location will be used by that library.
Existing files will not be moved unless you choose File > Library > Organize library and choose the option to "Consolidate files."

I have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.

There's generally no reason to be closing them that way at all. The apps you see in the recents bar are just that, apps that you used recently. Most of them are doing absolutely nothing. The only apps that are really doing anything in the background are ones that play music and ones that are using location services. Just leave them be.
