I have email to send to over 800 addresses. Will Mac Mail do this, or do I have to hire an outside service?

I have an email to send to over 800 addresses. Will my Mac Mail in MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5 do this?

The Mac Mail application will send them, it won't care. But as others have said, it is your email provider (Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, etc.) who will care, and they might care a lot. Each has its sending limits, so check their Terms and Conditions or other online documentation.
Even if you can technically send 800 emails, be aware that the other bottleneck could be your recipient's email provider. Some will start to suspect your emails of being a possible spam influx if hundreds of messages start coming from a single address (yours), and if you get blocked, none of your messages might get through to recipients at one provider or another.
Hosted mailing services like Constant Contact or Campaign Monitor have ways of verifying senders like you as "trusted" so that email providers will allow your messages right through to your receipients without spam-blocking them.
You might not need a hosted mailing service for a one-time mailing, but if it's something you'll do often you should definitely hook up with a trusted email marketing service.

As Bob says, any iMap service can do this. GMail can, iCLoud mail can too.
Both of these can be used with Mail on any device.

  • In Gmail I can setup other accounts to "send" email from- can I use these other addresses in Mac Mail

In Gmail if you click the 'cog' button under your username you can choose "Settings" from the drop down menu. From Settings you choose the accounts and import tab and can enter other email addresses. This is useful to me because I have an email address [email protected] and while foobar.com host a server, the is no actual mail server but it can forward emails to aliases on that domain to some other another email address setup by admin.
When I compose a message in Gmail in the browser I can choose [email protected] or [email protected] as my send address. I almost exclusively use my gmail account through Mac Mail on my MBP as an IMAP account.
My question is, can I set up Mac mail in some way to send an email from the gmail server but using the alastair@foobar alias(es) as the send address?

    Thanks for your repaly .

  • Why does my google email address appear on emails I send from a different address on my iPad?

I have a number if email accounts on my iPad 2. Recently I have noticed that whichever account I send an email from if is received with my google email address so I get all responses to that address which isn't what I want! The google account is not set as my default account so I do not understand why this is happening. It is only a recent thing as I have previously been able to send emails from my default account and have that put in the sender line without any problem. At the moment the software is changing the sender address between me sending it (I have checked the from field in the email and it is always the address I want it to go from) and it actually being received by the recipient.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Look through the email account that is your default for sending. Make sure that you have set the correct outgoing mail server.

  • My email name in the "to" field disappears in Mac Mail

In Mac Mail when I write my own email address in the "to" field, it disappears. And when I respond to an email, it comes into the recipient as "no sender sender." No one has been able to help me solve this. So I had to switch to Thunderbird (Mozilla). Any suggestions?

Oh, thank you so very much, that was the problem!!!! That name had my e-mail listed!!! It was making me crazy and now it's solved!!!!!!!
    Thank you, thank you!!!!!!

  • Problems adding a new email address to .mac mail account

I'm trying to set up a second email address on my new .mac mail account and I'm stuck. What would be the account description/type/ingoing server/outgoing server for a new account. I've read the directions on mail help to no avail. Also, suddenly my "saved email" option on the left vertical bar is gone. I assume it's because the box got too full (i really liked it . Does anyone know how to access/empty/make it reappear as a mail function ?
    Thanks for your time.

Yes, I am a new .mac subscriber. I have a main mac address: [email protected] and then have my old aol address ( [email protected]) mail 'shunted ?' into my new mac address.
My partner now needs an email address for his own online banking account. I'm looking for the easiest way to do this under my mac account.
Saved email folder was an option on the vertical pane under "Inbox" "Sent Mail" "Junk Mail." I used it to store important incoming emails.
Thanks so much for your time,

  • Can anyone tell me how to move my email addresses from Mac Mail to Thunderbird

    Hi all.
I've been having so many problems with Mac Mail that I decided to give Thunderbird v17 a go. It automatically imported my emails and account settings but hasn't imported my email addresses. I know they'll automatically be added as and when I reply to incoming emails but I assumed there would be some way of adding my existing contacts in one go. Searched the net for a solution but came up empty-handed. Any help you can give me will be much appreciated.

PRESS AND HOLD THE IMAGE IN THE EMAIL UNTIL THE OPTION TO 'SAVE IMAGE' APPEARS THEN TAP ON THAT.
See how annoying really large text is?  Don't do that next time.

  • Using MSN email address thru Mac mail

Is there a way to use our msn email addresses ([email protected]) thru the Mac Mail? I called our ISP and they said I could only access it through hotmail - but I would prefer to use Mac Mail. The ISP was unable to tell me an account type etc to set it up. Thanks for any help!

    Hi Kelly-
If you're paying for the premium MSN/Hotmail mail account, this is possible.
You'll probably need to install a plug in for Mail, to be able to use the HTTP settings that MSN/Hotmail uses (it's really designed for Web-Only access, or Windows OutlookExpress...but the plug in gets it working with your mac).
Not repsonsible for problems, but I did get this working on my Mini.

PS-It may not work if you're only getting Free MSN mail account

  • Iphone 4s unable to send mms over gprs, is there a fix for this?

OK so after much hunting around the net and many calls to both my network provider and apple i found this link myself http://www.nowsms.com/iphone-mms-message-send-failure-on-gprs-and-edge that answered my problem. The answer being there is no solution :-S  ............ so im now asking here if anyone knows of a fix or work around for this problem.

    Howdy there Tuna241,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone is restarting unexpectedly after the update to iOS 7.0.2.
I recommend the steps outlined in the article named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • When you recieve an email from apple saying "welcome to your new mac" what does this mean

    hey people
i recieved an email saying "welcome to your new mac"
i have already got a imac and was wondering if this means someone has purchesed another mac?
    thanks

Did the email ask that you click on a link or provide additional information about yourself? If so it's a phishing scam. Delete the message and ignore it.
If you did buy a new computer sometime recently, then it's just a welcome email, nothing more.

  • Email in gmail doesn't show up in mac mail app

I was looking for a specific email and searched the mail app by date and keywords and couldn't find it. Then I went to gmail on chrome and searched for it using the same keywords and found it. Why doesn't it show up in the mail app?

Hello. I got a similar issue. My iTunes 9 and my iPhone 3GS 3.1 works fine, they sync and so on. I got tethering service from my carrier and it worked fine using USB and Bluetooth with my MacBook. I don't know what happened but now it works only with Bluetooth. The ethernet adapter ˜Ethernet Adapter (enX)" - as shown in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756 - is missing.
I can't find a way to recreate that iPhone adapter. When I try to tether thru USB nothing happens (no blue bar in iPhone), no adapter is recognized/created. When I tether thru Bluetooth everything works fine.
Does anyone know how to reset iPhone ethernet config in Mac OS? Thank you.

  • Since updating to V10.9.4, I'm getting copies of the emails I send.  I use gmail.  How can I stop this?

Since updating to the latest version of Mavericks, I am getting copies of all the emails I send.  Very annoying.  How can I change this back?

By default Gmail automatically saves a copy of your sent messages. Gmail also is a non standard IMAP and for years we have had workarounds to make Gmail IMAP work in our email clients. Apple has included it's own fixes in Mavericks Mail. If you had previous workarounds this will now conflict with Mail.
I wrote about my experiences with setting up Gmail in Mavericks Mail here. I describe how you need to reset Gmail in your browser and in Mail.

  • HT2500 How do I attach my personal photo in the upper right hand corner of the emails I send out?

hello - How do I attach my personal photo in the upper right hand corner of the emails I send out?

The photos displayed by Mail.app are retrieved from the contents of your address book; from your contacts.
The photos are local to Mail.app, and are not sent out as part of the messages.
