I have erratic cursor issues

I have a Pavilion dm4 and the cursor moves erratic when typing. I think it might have something to do with the touchpad, but I have no idea how to disable the touch.pad to test that theory.

As the Alps driver is the one listed in your notebooks specifications, try downloading and installing the driver on the link below.

After the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

Erratic Trackpad Issue - Very Annoying!

I've got a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.2. Ever since I upgraded to Leopard, I've had intermittent problems with my trackpad/cursor. Sometimes, after sleeping the computer and waking it up, I get very erratic cursor movements (it "jerks" around the screen). It is getting very irritating. I thought 10.5.2 would fix this issue, but it didn't. What I've had to do is restart the computer whenever it happens - which is multiple times a day...
Anybody know what I could do to fix this? I would be extremely grateful for someone's help. Thanks!

Try switching to another application and see if it fixes the problem temporarily. Hold down Alt and then hit the Tab button.
I have been fighting what seems like the same problem. Switching to another application and back seems to fix it - at least for a few minutes..

Speedgrade erratic cursor bug using dynamic link from PP

I'm on the latest version of CC (2014) running two subscriptions (one for work and one for freelance projects) both have developed an erratic cursor fault. Both are running Windows 7 (64 Bit) with pretty powerful machines. My process to get the fault is as follows:
Working on a PP timeline - use direct link to speedgrade - work up some clips using the sliders and colour wheels - about 5-10 mins into using speedgrade my cursor begins to act erratically. The cursor will jump off a colour wheel / slider and change values at will. I have to shut down and restart to get the software back again. As this is happening across two machines, completely separate to each other I'm a bit worried this isn't just a one off.
I have reported this to Adobe via the bug page but has anyone else had this issue?

That's not an error; it's just an advisory that the length of your video and/or audio streams has been trimmed, or the location of your chapter points have been adjusted. If the transcoded version behaves like you want on a burned disc, then you can safely ignore the message.
The transcode is safe until you make a change, or do something else major like moving folders and assets around.

Windows 7 displays error message when exiting +cursor issue

Two issues here. CS5 Phoshop on Wind 7 64 bit.
Physical processor count: 8
Processor speed: 3073 MHz
Built-in memory: 12279 MB
Free memory: 9577 MB
Memory available to Photoshop: 10934 MB
Memory used by Photoshop: 80 %
Image tile size: 128K
First issue is since the latest automatic Adobe update (why fix what isn't broken?) Every time I now exit Photoshop I get the message "Adobe QT Server has stoped working" and occasionally it happens when I exit bridge. Indesign is also behaving badly. I can no longer start a previous document from file manager without ID crashing out.
The other is the cursors in Clone and erase lose their edge (become invisable) for no reason - well not quite. Noise Ninja crashed Photoshop when I tried to use it. I reinstalled it and all is well. The cursor issue seems to be intermittant but came back (for no reason) after I reinstalled NN. I can't seem to change the cursor, no matter what I do. The problem is now seriously affecting how I work. Almost enough to go back to Win XP which ran CS5 Photoshop flawlessly.
Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Well, that issue is simply a matter of hitting the Caps Lock key. When Caps Lock is on, you'll see the cursor outline, and when it is off you'll see a crosshair. That's a feature, not a bug.
Glad to hear the 11.1 drivers are out. I will download them and try them now myself.
Regarding "Adobe QT" crashing... QT brings to mind QuickTime, though that is Apple, not Adobe. Do you have Apple QuickTime installed?
Regarding memory usage, with 12 GB of installed RAM, you should be able to set Photoshop to use 90% or more in Edit - Preferences - Performance.

Different cursor issue in CS4 and Window7 x64 Ultimate....

My first post, as I am frustrated and looking for help. I am seeing three ghostly cursors (pointing hands or fists), when I mouse-over some choices in PS4 (11.01, the latest version); like the selections at the bottom of channels or when "transform" is active.
I have built a few PCs and have been doing computers since the early 80's. This is pissing me off! I've tried everything and done a lot of research.
I have Windows7, 64 bit Ultimate, with the latest updates. I have a almost new MSI (Nvidia), 9800 GT graphics card and fancy dual monitors. Photoshop PS4 (version 11.01), and... what else? A PC that was not giving me issues (in Photoshop), till I loaded Windows7!
I tried installing the latest Nvidia driver, 196.21, many times. The last time I saved the files in the nvidia folder in the program files area. The last time it took longer and my screen flashed and it said it was installed (but it always says it is installed), and after that no change in the Windows driver specifications. It still says I have the old Nvidia driver, "8.17.11.9621" What the hell kind of number is that?
I cannot get the 196.21 driver to install. Windows says I have the latest.
Now, I have read about people with partial cursor issues in PS, but nobody with my problem. Such a pisser that you don't know if it is Nvidia, Windows7 or Photoshop.
Lastly, I tried turning off "Enable OpenGL drawing".

The 3 cursor problem could by this advice supplied recently by dec9. "You have your computer Display settings set higher then 100 DPI. Change it to 100 percent or lower." That worked for the other poster.
I have seen posts that stated user had to go in and "scrub" out the old drivers as an update was just not overwriting the old one completely. Not a computer geek so hope this helps.

Mouse cursor issues (changes back to arrow)

I keep having this annoying issue with the cursor of my mouse. It works just fine for a while, but after few hours (usually working with PS, Illustrator etc.) there is this thing happening - if I want to resize a window, an Illustrator object, or if I move the cursor over a hyperlink - cursor changes from an arrow to a hand or whatever desired sign - but just for a second and goes back to arrow! It is highly annoying. :/
Idk the source of this problem, but I might add that I once installed a patch for Yosemite, which changes Helvetica system font for Lucida Grande. I uninstalled it though...

It's only happening when I have mirroring turned on (not extended desktop), and when I have the mirrored resolution set to match the TV. The TV has a larger viewing area than my Macbook Pro. My MBP screen resolution is set to "Scaled: Best for retina"
This started happening after the update to Mavericks.
EDIT:
This solved it for me: I had Air Display running in the background, and the new version of Air Display automatically tries to connect to devices when it's running. My iPad is out, and I think Air Display might have been trying to connect to it. I quit Air Display and the cursor issue is gone.

Cursor issues in Word and Outlook after Adobe 9 pro trial download - any advice - really annoying!

Hi, have downloaded Adobe Professional 9 as a trial and am looking to buy it (work with a charity). Did use Foxit phantom Pro and had no issues much considering its a cheap copy, but had to change to adobe so it was compatible with a colleagues system.
So heres what happens, i can now only navigate in a word document using the cursor arrows on my PC, can not click with a mouse in a document to change location or use the scroll on the RHS of the screen, can only scroll down with the cursor keys. Same issue in Outlook documents.
Getting very annoying!
can also only highlight text for copy and paste using arrows and shift - not mouse click hold. have to then cut and paste using edit not RH mouse click.
I run windows vista home and office version 2003,
help or i'll have to go back to foxit!

I had a trial of Adobe a year ago, maybe more. It did the same thing then i remember. Then i bought the Foxit subscription and completely got rid of adobe and the cursor issue went away. I am 100% sure it was the Adobe download that did it.

Erratic signal issues

Anyone else having a problem on their 4S where one minute it's no service and then the next it's 4 bars?
Had an iPhone 4 since day 1 and at home I'd get a steady 3 bars all the time. Now I go from 0 to 2 to 3 bars all day long. 50% of the time it's on zero or No Service.
Same operator.

Hi, I haven't had the chance to swap my iPhone 4s yet to see if a new handset solves this issue.
However, I have done a lot more searching of this issue and have found somthing that could very well be the culprit!
I have found that the reception issue happens only in certain locations normally indoors. I found a couple of forums suggestion that the location services could be causing the issue and that after turning it off the problem with the erratic signal bars goes away.
Well im not too keen on having the whole location services turned off, So I looked into this further to see if there was a setting under location services that could be causing the problem:
Under settings > location services > system services > there is an option called "Mobile network search" (I think it's 'search', the iPhone doesn't display the whole name.
But I have found a few people saying that turning this option off seems to solve the issue for them.
I have turned mine off and will test it in areas where I have had the issue on he past and will post my results.

Toshiba Laptop - cursor issues

Hello - I have a Toshiba C55D-A5120, serial # XXXXXXXXX. The issue began today: I open the laptop, enter my PIN, the screen opens normally, but the cursor freezes. I have to exit via the Task Manager. This is the first problem I have incurred.

I have read some posts about cursor issues. You can try doing a power cycle by removing all power by removing everything connected to the laptop then turn it on pressing F2 immediately and it goes to a setup screen where you can hit defaults by pressing f9 then enter and f10 to save and exit. after it restarts, log in with your pin then once you have your desktop back, press f5 only once then wait for atleast 30 seconds and try your cursor to see if its works already. Erratic Network Issue, but only on my computer

Hey Folks,
I'm very frustrated. I'm using a MacBook Pro and I seem to be the only one in my office experiencing this issue.
Regardless of whether or not I'm accessing the internet via the wireless signal or the ethernet connection on our network here at the office - I have lots of issues trying to connect to sites.
I can replicate this over and over; however, it's quite erratic.
Example:
I can be online, and type "www.foxnews.com" (just a recent example) in my browser, hit enter, and it stalls on "looking up host www.foxnews.com" until I finally get the "page load error" that you'd get when you aren't online at all.
I can open multiple tabs, and attempt to connect to multiple sites and have this issue. however, I can walk across the hall to my co-workers office and all 3 sites load fine.
I'll be attempting to load a website and will yell out of my office to several co-workers down the hall "hey, can ya'll load twitter.com", and they all shout back within a few seconds "yep, no problem".
This happens over and over - then all of a sudden, as if someone flipped a switch, the sites start loading on my laptop. Many times, closing the browser and reopening it, or changing to a different browser "seems" to resolve the issue.
Finally -
We've tried it with wirless connection, with ethernet, and with both on simultaneously, same results.
HOWEVER - although it seems this issue would HAVE to be specific to my laptop, I don't have this issue ANYWHERE else - at home on my wireless network, no problem. At a coffee house, or any other place I use the laptop, no problems whatsoever. Only at my office here.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
We're running through a NetGear Prosafe Router/Firewall, model # FVX538.

Just now, it happened ... I clicked the link in my email to come here and reply, and it wouldn't load. In the meantime, I clicked a link on a blog in my GoogleReader to go to BibleGateway.Com and it wouldn't load at all ...
I happened to notice also that iTunes was attempting to connect to the iTunes store and was hung up.
Couple of minutes later, everything wakes up and starts responding.
I can say this - as a guy who owned a web hosting company and manged multiple dedicated servers, I would swear this is an issue where it seems the DNS servers are timing out or aren't answering ... that's exactly what it "feels like"; however, if that were the case on our network - EVERYONE would experience it ... not just me, right?

Photo to messages cursor issue

Hi,
Just updating to iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 (yes, some regrets) and I've noticed this odd little issue. If I take a picture and select it for a message the cursor for the To: field is to the left of the T or not to the right of the : as you would expect. | To: is how it looks, not To: | . Also, this only seems to occur for new photos, not photos that were taken a few minutes ago.
I'm not sure if others have had this issue, it isn't a problem as when text is entered the cursor goes to the right spot, it's just one of those little things that doesn't look great for a big rollout.

I have noticed this issue, as well. When I either compose a new message or text a photo, my cursor is to the left of the "To:" field, but types in the appropriate area and sends without problems. It doesn't seem to affect texting capabilities, but it is annoying that the cursor is not perfectly aligned after the "To:" field.
I tried quitting the text application by swiping out of range, and resetting my device but to no avail. I called Apple Support and am expecting a call back from them in a few hours, when it is more convenient for me to have them try to isolate the problem.
It appears that others are having the same issue. It seems that whenever a new software update is downloaded, more problems or problems where there were none occur.

ATTENTION MOZILLA DEVELOPERS!!!! I have had numerous issues all occuring within 24-48 hours,The latest is location/address bar not working completely! Who has solutions and fixes that actually work???

Windows 7 32bit Firefox 3.6.1.1 .... I really liked Firefox until recently!!!!
I'm not even going to explain all the problems I have had in the last 2 days, but i will tell you i have read so many forums and have done A LOT of fixing, 8 hours worth!! So before someone suggests for me to try a common fix I have done almost all things like. 
Disable extensions 
Disabled/Remove add ons 
Tried all in safe mode 
Deleted files in Firefox Profile 
Renamed files in Firefox Profile 
I have done almost everything except remove Firefox and use a different browser. 
What gets me most is this site (Mozilla support) is the least helpful!! i have found solutions that worked off of Non Mozilla forums!! 
Ok here goes...... 1. Auto complete works in location/address bar, when I click ENTER on keyboard or click the blue arrow in address bar NOTHING HAPPENS!!! I can go to bookmarks click on one and it will go right to the page! It's like the address bar is dead! 2. I have NO search engines in the search bar located right next to address bar, the only solution I found for that called for typing commands in the address bar, which i can do but it wont do anything!!! 
Please keep in mind I did a full Google search on these problems and have found that a lot of people have the same issues regardless of Firefox versions or Operating systems!! 
This is my last attempt to get accurate and proven solutions/fixes to these problems before I wash my hands of Mozilla, I'm sure someone will tell me to just do it!!! 
I am hoping to get knowledgeable responses to this post!!

You can locate the current [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] this way:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Open Containing folder
If the 11.01 & 11.02 are empty backups then make sure that create a backup of the other .json backups elsewhere as soon as possible to avoid losing backups that may still work.
The other profiles appear to have older bookmarks. You can check the file compatibility.ini in a profile to see which version of Firefox last used that profile.
A possibility is to create a fourth profile to test each of the JSON backups and check which bookmarks they store. If you open that profile with the -no-remote switch then you can copy and paste bookmarks from one profile (instance) to another profile. Both profiles need to be open at the same time to do that.

We are having the issue on hundreds of systems and I am rolling out the readiness tool mentioned above to prevent other systems from being affected. In the mean time I have stopped deploying MS13-098 and am hoping Microsoft will go ahead and let all
of their customers know about the problem instead of just one country. Hopefully the original bulletin will be updated with this known issue.

Apple has offered replacement or pro-rated refunds in the US as a settlement of a class action lawsuit, not because of pride in their design-centric approach to their products. If you seek a similar replacement/refund program in India, then the odds are pretty good that you’d need a similar legal approach with which to convince Apple to offer a similar program there. If you’re unwilling to wait for such an event, then you can purchase a replacement power cable now, and hope for a pro-rated refund at some point in the future.

I have noticed an issue with utilizing the “stream” function on iOS 7. If you choose to just stream the movie by hitting the play button it seems to actually start downloading (which is fine) but if you are say halfway thru the movie and stop you can clearly see that storage has been reduced under the usage, yet under the “videos” tab it still states “No Data” the only way to delete what you have partially downloaded is to fully download the video, which is fine but there is no way to tell what videos have been partially downloaded (I.e which occurs a lot when your child switches between movies using the so called “stream” function). This becomes troublesome once the capacity of the ipad is almost met and you have no way to delete this data since you may have several videos that have started to be viewed (hence partially downloaded). Apple needs to somehow make it truly streaming or provide an update so the storage can be managed. The only way I have been able to remove partially downloaded videos is by doing a total software restore. (The video data that is in question when connected to my MacBook shows up in iTunes as “other”) if you have any insight into this issue it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

IMO opendns is either doing this on purpose (unlikely) or they're under some sort of attack/being used to attack the specific torrent sites although I'm open to other explanations. I believe using the automatic setting for DNS is using my own ISP's DNS servers (which again, work fine... but still...)
I'd rather not use Google's public DNS servers as Google is to commercial these days and I think there's potential privacy issues.
