I have error 3194 when updating my iPhone 4s from 5.1.1 to 6.1.2

I have facrtory unlocked iPhone 4s , iOS 5.1.1
I've downloaded official firmware 6.1.2 and tried to update through itunes with holding (Shift) + update . but I have the error 3194 and i've followed all the steps on the articales to fix this error but nothing happened and the error still.
from the methods i tried is to edit (hosts) file , so please if there is any other idea will be great.
and i dont want to update to the latest 6.1.3 iOS so i cannot just hit (update) on iTunes.

You have only two options
1. Stay where you are.
2. Update to newest being signed for your iDevice, i.e., iOS 6.1.3 period

My suggestion
1. Choose and downlaod correct version of iOS 5 for your device
4. In itunes hold and press restore button
5. Select downloaded ios version
It should install it.

when i update i get error 3194. Itunes is up to date, i dont have sequrity on my computer, i have updated my computer and have restarted my computer. why is it not working?

How to solve error (-23) when updating my iPhone to iOS5?

I was about to download the iOS5 on my iPhone but it kept on saying that there was a problem when downloading and "An unknown error occured (-23)". Can anyone help me? My iTunes and Mac's software are up to date.

I had the same error (-23) but i managed to update my iphone after a few days... I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes on my laptop and it's work... No more error msg popping out and the updating went smoothly .
p.s. Yuppie finally able to updated my iphone to iOS5..

iTunes has to be able to contact Apple during the downloading and installing process.

You can't do that if your device is not jailbroken, if it is jailbroken then you can use the iFaith tool. Have a look at the below link which explains clearly which devices are eligible for upgrading and which are not, article also explains the usage of iFaith tool.

I recently just bought an iPad 2 at a computer auction, and I'm trying to update it to iOS 7.0.6, and I received this error when trying to do so: The iPad could not be updated. An unknown error occured (3194). What's the reason for this?

That's unfortunate, I guess i'll just have to stick with what it has. I need this to be able to contact my file server, and it cannot be done without a j*******k. Oh well, thanks

1. Update iTunes - latest version is 10.4.1.
2. Disable ALL security apps (firewall, antivirus/spyware) running on your computer.
3. Don't try to downgrade the iOS version. This isn't supported
4. If you EVER tried to hack thie phone or use apps like tinyumbrella, you may have to edit the hosts file on your computer to remove references to gs.apple.com
5. If your phone has been hacked (jailbroken, iOS downgrade, or unauthorized unlocking), you may not be able to restore the phone to Apple specs again.

If you receive this error, update to the latest version of iTunes. 3rd party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue, to resolve please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. IGadget Connect to iTunes;
Turn off your iGadget (holding the power / sleep on top of the device until it shut down);
Hold the power button / sleep and home simultaneously, after exactly 10 seconds holding both buttons (time), release only the power button / sleep, and
Hold down the home button until iTunes displays a message saying that a device was connected in recovery mode.
While your iGadget is in recovery mode the screen is completely black, which does not mean that the phone is switched off or stopped. Carefully follow the instructions in iTunes.

If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number?
