I have FF 8.0 . Today I noticed there i FF 8.01 . My FF is supposedly set to automatically update. When was 8.01 released?

On installing torbrowser on my usb and opening it I noticed there waf FF version 8.01 Aurora installed. My local pc has FF 8.0 installed with the options set to automatically update. I use Privatefirewall 7.0 which is configured to accept FF as a safe program.
My Q is why didn't FF auto update? Need to now this to see if my pc is compromised or if FF processes are being blocked by this Firewall.

You have 10.6 on that machine, I suggest you stick with it for performance, third party hardware and software reasons as long as possible.
Consider 10.8 (not 10.7) when it's released, because 10.7 and 10.8 will require a new investment in software and newer third party hardware as it requires newer drivers the old machines won't have. (forced upgrade because of software, really nice of them)

1: Software Update fully under the Apple menu.
2: Check the status of your plug-ins and update (works for all browsers) also install Firefox and see if your problems continue. You should always have at least two browsers on the machine just in case one fails.

Why did Firefox automatically update to 9.01 today, disabling a needed extension and my main theme?

I (and many others) have complained constantly about FF's constant updates that consistently break extensions, etc.
Therefore, I turned off automatic updates in the OPTIONS folder. I have FF set not to even check for FF updates.
Today, I reboot the computer, my theme is gone, disabled for no good reason. An extension I use (FoxClocks) is gone and listed as incompatible with the new version, '''9.1'''
Hmmm. I thought that applied in mid-January. According to the Update History, Jan 12 to be exact.
Now, I turned off the automatic update feature for FF (leaving it for Add-ons and search engines). Yet, something still seems to have happened automatically in the background that disrupted my browser.

(a) has an automatic update been applied against my wishes?
(b) I thought I'd made sure that couldn't happen. How do I stop it from happening, otherwise?

I don't think 9.01 is a new update either. I applied it in mid-Jan according to the software history---that was a late application because I do not like Firefox's frequent update policy and I only apply after they are well established and not likely to break my extensions.
Yet, suddenly, nonetheless one morning my browser booted with the Noia theme gone, and Fox Clocks disabled. (It is now back.) Which is extremely odd since I also use FF on my laptop (Vista) and have FC installed there---and it works fine with this version and there was no such problem on my laptop. What in the world can that be about? (Note that the laptop is Vista; the desktop XP3)

I don't know about the first letter cap but the spelling is simple. Edit - Spelling and Grammar - Select While Typing and Correct Spelling Automatically.

Update: An Apple rep called me today to update the status of my return. I was told that the replacements for the BLACK iPad 2's was still another 3 weeks out (at least) so they offered me a brand new WHITE 16GB iPad 2. I could have that or continue waiting. I opted to go ahead and accept the offer of a new white one. Worst case scenario if I don't like the white one I have buddy that just bought a 16GB black one that he would be willing to swap it.

It had text giving my username and password for roaming - I could not copy or pirnt the information from my desktop, so I took a copy and video of it via my Apple cell phone.

I have noticed that when I am on phone calls with certain people, my phone will emit a loud long beep. I am involved with protecting jobs through a union, and am concerned that the county I work for may have had one of their IT people hack into my phone, etc...

I notice the problem when I am opening some applicatio, and it freezes. If I go to Task Manager, I can see the two Adobe apps sucking up CPU cycles. If I end the processes, then the other apps continue. Today, I uninstalled FlashPlayerPluginqand plugin-container. All day since I have had no freezing of an app. What should I do to correct the problem?

You can only delete them one at a time on the iPad. If you have an IMAP email account, go to your email in on the server using a web browser and select as many as you can at a time and delete them that way. That action will be reflected on the iPad. In IMAP - whatever you do on one device syncs across all devices. If you have POP email - start deleting one at a time.

Something like this happened to me, where something went wrong on Apple's end and a movie I rented wouldn't play. I contacted Apple over the phone and they gave me back my money and fixed the problem for future use.
