I have figured out the ICHAT VIDEO PROBLEM!!!

For all of you people like me who are having problems connecting your Ichat with another Ichat user, even when you have tried all those helpful tips like unblocking your fiewall and changing your quicktime settings and you ichat settings to what they have said and it still wont work... READ THIS.
I was having the same problem and I notice that I have a wireless internet connection with linksys; and with my wireless interenet connection i have a name and a password to get into my internet connection, and that is the problem. When you want to chat with someone just unlock your password to get into your internet and your good to go.

OS X 10.5.4, AT&T DSL, Airport Extreme.
We've tried updating the Motorola MSTATEA modem firmware.
Tried Port forwarding in Apple Airport.
Firewall is open.
iChat Video keeps stating Connection Refused. Even from others I can Video Chat with at a location on Comcast.
Any suggestions???
Here's the error report:

    My Ipod classic wont play TED, The Grid, Techzilla and other video podcasts (but not all video podcasts).  The genious bar could not figure out the problem. Instead, the Apple store gave me credit towards a new classic, which produced the same problem.  This problem is not isolated to a single computer.  Secondly, the convert to ipod version feature in Itunes does not resolve the problem.  Lastly, I tried restoring the ipod to no avail.  I've heard this is a video codec problem.

  • I need help figuring out the best way to convert analogue video to DV so that I can edit it.

    I have a large number of VHS and hi8 tapes that I want to convert to high quality DV.
    I have a couple of options. One is an Elgado Video capture system.
    The other is a Sony Digital Media Converter Box (DVMC-DA2).
    I have tried a few of the less important tapes using the Elgado Video Capture system. It only allows you to convert to MPEG4 or H.268. It is not very good quality, especially for archival items or items I would later wish to edit.
    I also have the Sony Digital Media Converter Box. I have heard that this is a superior option. So far, though, I have only been able to figure out how to import using an old version of iMovie HD. This makes a large imovie project file (approximately 6.18GB for a 28:30 clip vs a 348.9MB for an MPEG4 using delgado.
    On top of that to convert the file from an iMovieProject file to DV is an additional step that so far looks like will take a half an hour at best.
    Is there any way for me to import VHS/hi8 tapes using the Digital Media Converter Box to creat high quality DV files directly? If so, where can I find this info? What steps should I take and what are the settings I should use.
    I have a lot of tapes so I want to figure out the right and most efficient way to do this because I will be repeating it a bunch of times and would hate to have to start over again.
    I should also mention that I am using a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, with OSX 10.9.1
    I'm sorry in advance if this seems like an obvious question, but I have been googling and looking at tutorials on the site and just have not found the answer. There are a lot of ads for expensive low quality services to do this converting for you, so maybe the answer I am looking for is burried in all that advertising.
    Thanks

    Thanks Biggles and Gotz. I just couldint find capture, but now I can! (It was right under my nose too).
    I'm trying it now and it appears to be working. Do you have any other recommendations for capturing from hi8 video source as far as setting go? I am using DV to capture. Are there any other settings I should pay attention to?
    There is an extra line of video noise at the bottom, but when I google it, it sounds like it won't show on most standard tvs and if I want to fix it for online, that I should mask it after the fact vs scaling up the video.

  • Help! I figured out the problem - sort of.

    So I posted my problem two days ago. I found that only some of my pages were loading in Firefox 3. I didn't know why (see below for original posting).
    With a little experimenting, I have found that republishing the pages that "work" actually causes them to no longer work. I'm pretty sure I published these pages that worked with previous versions of iWeb. Now that I'm using the latest version of iWeb, any new pages (blogs) cannot be viewed by Firefox 3.
    Is there anyone out there with a work around? Solution? Anyone?
    HERE IS THE ORIGINAL POST:

    Here are links to my pages: the first link doesn't load in Firefox 3. The second link loads fine. I can't figure out the difference between the two pages. Any web gurus out there that can determine my problem? I really want people using firefox to be able to view my site.
    THANKS!!

    Oh, and I also reset my NVRAM, my computer hasn't frozen again yet, so I'm not sure if it has made a difference.

    The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.  Hope you have a backup.
    Follow the instructions in  iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
    Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.
     Cheers, Tom

    That was probably caused by your Firewall blocking the newly installed version of Firefox.
    No known security issues with Firefox 3.6.17, which was just released this past week.

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 12025: Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF .

    Revision: 12025
    Revision: 12025
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-11-19 17:48:04 -0800 (Thu, 19 Nov 2009)
    Log Message:
    Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF.  Also fixing RSL issue with OSMF because a change in flex-config.xml accidentally got overwritten.  Also fixing a bug caught during the last code review where you would set the volume on the VideoPlayer, but the volumeBar wouldn't be made aware of that change.
    Switching out the video component results in many API changes.  The changes are highlighted below:
    Class name changes:
    - spark.primitives.VideoElement is being renamed to spark.components.VideoDisplay
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamingVideoSource is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoSource
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamItem is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoItem
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer event changes:
    The new video component's events are:
    - bytesLoadedChange : org.osmf.events.LoadEvent
    - currentTimeChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - durationChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - mediaPlayerStateChange : org.osmf.events.MediaPlayerStateChangeEvent
    The old video component's events were:
    - close : spark.events.VideoEvent (removed)
    - complete : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - metaDataReceived : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - playheadUpdate : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with currentTimeChange)
    - progress : flash.events.ProgressEvent (replaced with bytesLoadedChange)
    - ready : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer property changes:
    Renames:
    - maintainAspectRatio:Boolean has been renamed to scaleMode:String and rather than true/false, it now access 4 values: none, zoom, letterbox, and stretch.  See the enum class org.osmf.display.ScaleMode.
    - playheadTime:Number has been renamed to currentTime:Number
    - playWhenHidden has been renamed to pauseWhenHidden, and it's "tense" has been reversed.  So playWhenHidden = true correlates to pauseWhenHidden = false.  Also, before we would only pause when the video component was explcitly set to visible=false, but now we detect if the video components or any of it's ancestors have been hidden.
    - totalTime:Number has been renamed to duration:Number
    New properties:
    - bytesLoaded:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - bytesTotal:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - loop: Boolean this was a property added a while ago on the old video component but not in the original video player spec
    - mediaPlayerState: this is a new property that details the state of the video component.  See org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerState for all the possible values.
    - seekToFirstFrame:Boolean (pending PARB approval) - This is a new property available on VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer.  When autoPlay = false, if seekToFirstFrame is set to true, then we will connect to the server to start downloading the video, figure out the size of the video and resize appropriately, and show the first frame of the video.  If seekToFirstFrame is false, then no connection to the server is made, there's no implicit size for this video, and the first frame will not be show automatically.  By default the value of this property is true.  In the old video component, when autoPlay = false, we always has the same behavior as seekToFirstFrame = true.  Now it is controllable through this property.  Eventually, (not for Flex 4.0), we will most-likely have support for a thumbnail source or a splash screen so the video's preview will show up without making an unneeded connection to the server.  The property name may change depending on PARB.
    Other changes:
    - autoRewind: The default of autoRewind is now true instead of false
    - enabled: before we paused the video when the video component was explicitly set to enabled = false.  Now we pause the video when the video component or any of it's ancestors have been disabled.
    VideoPlayer-only changes:
    - videoObject:flash.media.Video property is now a new property on VideoPlayer.  It was previously only on VideoDisplay.
    - The skin states for the old VideoPlayer were: connectionError, disabled, disconnected, loading, playing, stopped, connectionErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen, disconnectedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, stoppedAndFullScreen.  The new skin states are: uninitialized, loading, ready, playing, paused, buffering, playbackError, disabled, uninitializedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, readyAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, pausedAndFullScreen, bufferingAndFullScreen, playbackErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen
    DynamicStreamingVideoItem property changes:
    - bitRate:Number renamed to bitrate:Number
    DynamicStreamingVideoSource property changes:
    - initialIndex has been added to DynamicSteramingVideoSource
    - live:Boolean has changed to streamType:String which accepts values: live, recorded, any.  See the enum class org.osmf.net.StreamType for more info.
    - serverURI:String renamed to host:Object
    - streamItems:Array has changed types to streamItems:Vector.
    ScrubBar property changes (THESE CHANGES ARE NOT DONE YET, BUT SHOULD BE DONE SOON)
    - bufferedStart will be removed
    - bufferedEnd will be renamed to loadedRangeEnd.  This property name still may change depending on PARB.
    - bufferedArea skin part needs to be renamed.  Probably will be renamed to loadedArea.  PARB still deciding.

  • Unable to figure out the classnotfoundException

    Dear Members,
    I have an applet on which I want to show images. I have put .class and .html in the same directory and the images in the images directory.
    I'm usong Tomcat 5.5.4.
    Note: I have created certificates and also policy files for the applet.
    When I run the same code using eclipse, the code is working fine.
    And when I try to run in the browser its throwing the following Exceptions.
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: AdminApplet1$1
         at AdminApplet1.init(AdminApplet1.java:74)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Where AdminApplet1 is my applet.
    Following is the code written in the .html
    <applet codebase="http://localhost:8080/project/"
            code="AdminApplet1"
            archive="SAdminApplet1.jar"
            height=400
            width=600 >
    </applet>where SAdminApplet1.jar is signed jar.
    I'm trying to figure out the problem since last 2 days. If you want more details about the problem please let me know.
    I have referred http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/Security/Signed/
    for creating the certificates
    If you think I've gone wrong while creating the certificate then please show me a way.
    I'm looking forward for the helping hands.
    Thanks.

    Please put all the class files in the jar.
    Considor this example:
    import java.applet.*;
    public class test extends Applet {
         public void start() {
              System.out.println("this is start");
              try{
                   System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.version"));
                   (new subTest()).printSomething();
              }catch(Exception e){
                   e.printStackTrace();
         public void init(){
              System.out.println("this is init");
         class subTest{
              void printSomething(){
                   System.out.println("something");
    }compiling with javac test.java gives me:
    test.class
    test$subTest.class
    When I remove test$subTest.class and open the applet with a html page I get:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: test$subTest

  • IChat video problem: person can see me, but I can't see them, only myself

    I recently bought the latest Macbook Air (2nd generation) a month ago. Upon using the iChat video, for some reason I cannot see the other person on my laptop. I only see one large window showing myself. The other person sees me as well as himself on his computer, so everything seems to be working on his end. However, when I use Skype, everything works normally for me. It's just iChat that fails to show me the other person on my screen. I am using the built-in camera for the MBA.
    I read other posts before about how you need to delete Perian or something, but I don't think I have that, so I don't think that is the problem. I tried looking through many forums but have not found an answer. =( Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
    Perian if you have it will show up here
    It's position will depend on what other System Preferences you may have added (Listed in that "Other" section).
    The issue was some while ago and effected certain people at a certain Perian Version and a specific OS level (and therefore iChat version).
    Perian has now been updated and this issue no longer applies.
    As Defcom implies this is often down to Internet Speed.
    iChat sends a lot more data in a pic than Skype does. Up to 0.3Mp per frame and up to 30 frames a second.
    Changing the Bandwidth is a first step.

  • Is there a way to dynamically figure out the FIRSTROW & LASTROW using Bulk Insert?

    I noticed most of my files follow a certain convention, so I can use Bulk Insert with this:
    FIRSTROW = 2, LASTROW = 224
    However a few files have many more records.  I'd like SQL Server to dynamically figure out the first and last rows with data, but I don't know if that's possible.  Can someone confirm?
    Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.

    Nope, you would need read the files from some program. Could be a CLR stored procedure if you want to do it from SQL Server. But from BULK INSERT alone, no.

    I am moving from Southern California to Maui, Hawaii and I need to figure out the best way to get my 24 inch iMac across the ocean. Does anyone know the best way to do this? I have found GearGrip's LCD harness so that I can do carry-on onto the plane...  Or maybe use a Pelican Case to do it as a "checked bag"? Or any other suggestions??! Please help!
    Thanks so much!!

    I don't recommend you send the iMac in a checked bag. Might get damaged.
    Check the airlines website for carry on guidelines.
    Or, if you have the original box that the iMac came in, if you have someone who can pick up the iMac for you, send it ahead Fed Ex and insure the package.
    Just make sure the display is covered to protect it. A blanket perhaps.

    Please confirm that Kilobytes are smaller than megabytes and gigabytes are the largest.

    You're correct, Kilobytes are smaller than megabytes and gigabytes are the largest.
    When you attach the images to an email, look on the bottom line for the total size of the email.  You can also change the image from Actual size to medium or small.
