I have forgotting my passcode, and my ipod is now disabled? what do i do?

i have forgotting my ipod password and now it is disabled, i have connected it to itunes but then ts saying i need to type in the password to then carry on? what do i do?

I am pretty sure that you need to restore your device.
To put the device in DFU mode:
1. Connect the device to iTunes
2. Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
3. After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
4. iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
It will remove all data, but if your locked out, there isn't much you can do about that.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

You may have to do this several times.
Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

I am currently restoring my ipod 5 however half way through re-covering my ipod 5 Itunes says "locked with a password unlock ipod etc..." and turns on the ipod and my ipod is still disabled...
    what do i do??

Try and force it into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • My daughter has the first 8gb ipod it is disabled what do i do

my daughter forgot her password and her ipod is now disabled.it is the first ipod to come out.it doesnt have camera and is 8gb

She'll need to connect it to the iTunes library she normally syncs it with and restore it. If iTunes asks for the passcode before it will let her proceed, connect the iPod to iTunes in recovery mode instead using the instructions in this Apple support document.

I have forgot my passcode to my ipod touch and its showing DISABLED now where i have the wrong passcode. How can i reset it or unlock it? I don't have the pc i first used when i bought my ipod touch.

If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Follow the instructions for putting the device in recovery mode >  iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

    Not good.
After too many unsuccessful attempts, you won't be able to try again until you connect it to the computer with which you last synced it.
