I have iBook G4 with Mac 10.4.11 and I received a note: Your version of firefox is no longer protected against online attacs. What do I do?
what version of firefox can I use?
What that message is referring to is one of the safer browsing features no longer working in older versions of Firefox. Firefox has a feature to warn you if a site you are trying to access is a suspected phishing site/web forgery or contains malware. It does this by checking with a database maintained by Google of suspect sites, and if the site is in the Google database it warns you before you access the site. The database used by Firefox 3.0 and earlier has been discontinued so you will no longer get any warnings. Firefox 3.5 and later use a new database of suspect sites.

Each time I start Firefox it says:
"URGENT! Your version of Firefox is no longer protected against online attacks. Get the upgrade - it’s fast and free!"
I am using ver. 3.6.13 and upgrading "successfully" only stays on 3.6.13 with same URGENT message.Your UserAgent string in Firefox is messed up and needs to be reset. <br />
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
Filter ='''general.useragent.''' <br />
Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select ''' ''Reset'' ''', <br />
Then restart Firefox -
This message keeps appearing on my google home page no matter which upgrade is installed. this has occured for the last three upgrades. It also affects youtube and hotmail which keep telling me my browser is outdated even though I have just installed the current version. I am running xp pro on an old, slow Netvista.

I've downloaded the 'new' version twice in the last week. This has no effect.
You need to reset your user agent string (identifies version of Firefox). Yours has been modified by several add-ons and is now stuck at showing Firefox 3.0.5

No there isn't phone support.

When I tried to drag the Firefox icon (as instructed after downloading) to Applications, it kept "bouncing" back. I have assumed my system would not accept it.
What have you figured out? Anything? What you show just shows a pretty quiet system except for firefox having a bunch of tabs open. You've got some page ins and outs so you maybe your'e hitting your HD with swap files more than what you think?
I think something like coconut battery app or something like it will tell you the charge cycles on the battery. How many do you have?
Lastly, are you using any extensions like ad blocker, or click to flash? -

I have an iPod with iOS 4.2.1 and would like to up date to version 5. The pc I normally sync with has XP operating system. So I can't up date to iTunes 10. And my iPod doesn't show the software update button shown in the article. What can I do?
You cannot update it if you can't get the latest version of iTunes. Actually, the latest version of iTunes will run in XP if you have Service Pack 2. Also, you posted in the iPad forum, and your profile shows you have an iPad, but in your post, you say it is an iPod. Is it an iPad or an iPod?

I never had this problem before. I don't know if it's related to now having the secure (HTTPS) version of Firefox. Some WaPo links DO work, but most don't. One other thing: at least once when I Googled "The Washington Post" and clicked on the apparent result, I got a message saying that the certificate was "Not Trusted" and that legitimate Web sites did not ask me to override this issue and proceed to the site. Yet the website I'm trying to use is "www.washingtonpost.com", which I know for a fact is THE Post Website. What's going on, and how can I fix this? Thanks.

It appears that a number of people have had this problem, but I have not found a comprehensive location that will solve the compatibility problem between Snow Leopard and Firefox 4. Does this require the services of a tech to solve?
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

I am currently using Firefox Version 1.5.0.12 on my iBook G4 with Mac OS X Version 10.3.9. I have problems using Facebook. I cannot confirm friend requests or view messages in the inbox for instance. What can I do?
== URL of affected sites ==
http://facebook.comFirefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever release for Mac OSX 10.3.9 and earlier versions, but that may not work any better because some large websites are blocking those older browsers or dropping support for older browsers like IE6 & earlier, and Firefox 2 & earlier due to security issues.
Using Safari on those websites ''(not enough total users for websites to be concerned about)'', or installing a new version of MacOSX are two solutions; or getting a new computer. -
When I open my Firefox browser it says I need to upgrade it. Then when I do so, and download the necessary things, It is said that i have no a compatible version with firefox. I have a Mac, version Os X 10.4.11....So How Could you provide me with an answer according to my need? Please, I need this help as today, I when to look for information and google asked me to write the character given in a box ...and supposely I am no longer protected against attacks from the web. Thank you.
The Firefox 3.5.x branch has reached end-of-life and is no longer maintained.<br />
You will no longer receive security updates.<br />
You can update Firefox via "Help > Check for Updates" or download and install the latest Firefox 3.6.x.<br />
Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded
