I have iMac version 10.7.5 can i update to Mavericks 10.9.2 ?

Your MBP qualifies for the upgrade to OS X Mavericks.
It would be very prudent and highly advisable that you create a viable backup of your entire system and all your important data before embarking on a major systems upgrade.
Backup your entire system using an externally connected hard drive using a data cloning app such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to create an identical and bootable  copy (clone) of your entire Mac's system to an external hard drive.
This needs to be done in the event something unforeseen goes bad with the install or you simply do not like the new OS.
Failure to backup means a much more tedious, longer and arduous task and process to restore your Mac to its previous system and health if you decide there are too many issues that may or may not occur during the install or during general operation.
Good Luck!

  • HT1229 With iphoto version 7.1.5 can I  update to Mavericks or Yosemite without losing photos?

I have OS X 10.8.6 Snow Leopard and want to update to Mavericks or Yosemite, but I have heard that many have had problems with iphoto in doing so. I have a particularly old version of iphoto (2008) and do not want to lose my photos of which there are relatively few--about 80.
Does putting the photos on disk ahead of time get around the issue of saving them before doing any upgrade?

If you want to continue to use iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite buy an upgrade to iPhoto 9.6, once you have installed Yosemite. Then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. see:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
If you do not want to keep using iPhoto, since your library is not large, export your photos from iPhoto to a folder on your Desktop, before you upgrade:
Select all photos in iPhoto and use "File > Export".
Don't upgrade to a new system without making a full backup of your computer.  You will need this backup, if you want to revert to your original system.  Before upgrading from Snow Leopard to Yosemite check all your important applications and device drivers, if they are Intel versions or universal versions. The newer MacOS X versions since Lion  do no longer support the Roseta environment, that is required to run Power PC  apps. If you do not upgrade these older apps while still running Snowleopard, you may not be able to upgrade them at all.  See this User Tip:

    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.

  • Hi currently i have keynote version 6.2 how can i downgrade it back to version 6.1?

Hi currently i have keynote version 6.2 how can i downgrade it back to version 6.1?

You should not try to install 6.1, it has significantly less compatibility and less features than the current Version. Users are crying out for Apple to release more and more updates for Keynote, we  want to move away from inferior versions.
Unless you have a copy of the older application you cant install it as the Mac App Store only provides the latest versions of applications.

  • I have an old ibook G4, how can I update my OS?

I have an old ibbok G4, how can I update my OS to a newer version?

The Tiger 10.4(.11) is a fine operating system and so far probably the longest running one up to now. It was updated several more times until they got Leopard 10.5; and coincidentally, part of that time was when intel-based macs were being developed, and they shipped with a special build version of Tiger. You'd need the retail Tiger install DVD. And a later download of Combo update 10.4.11.
You could to an 'archive and install' that would install a new System Folder, and leave the older one in the hard disk drive for you to look at awhile and wonder what to do with it; there is a way (I've forgotten) on how to re-use some of that stuff. When upgrading from Panther several years ago, I decided to make a clone of the Panther on an externally enclosed hard disk drive with a FireWire connection, that has its own power supply, and has an oxford-type chipset to allow for Mac OS X booting from there. So a clone (carbon copy cloner) was used to make a complete system clone on the external drive. I tested it several times to be sure, then I erased the hard disk drive in the iBook (and other computers, I had an iMac G4, too) and installed the main system, then added the Combo update to 10.4.11, and the last security updates available, then reinstalled my applications. Some applications like Tiger better, and some were made for later OS X. Now the trail is cold on support but Tiger 10.4.11 is much superior to Panther 10.3.9. A totally better experience.
    {The advantage of an upgrade if you have other retail application installers, is the totally clean install gives you a chance to secure erase and overwrite one-pass zeros on the hard disk drive, and reformat it. But if you upgrade by archive & install, you have all those older applications, but have to figure out how to use them in the new system, which is in its own new folder. The older OS X won't boot, so later it would be put to trash.}
I was able to use Pacifist to reinstall some of the original applications from the older restore-install DVD the computer shipped with, as it can extract items from an install DVD without running the Installer, and it will install them from the desktop. But for a novice, this may not be a good idea.
Anyway, I suggest you start a new thread to address this upgrade question as it warrants due consideration.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • My os is osx version 10.4.11 can I update to the latest os without having the os between?

My os is osx version 10.4.11 can I update to the latest os without having any of the osystems that are in between these two?

I would suggest Snow Leopard from there. Last I heard, telesales were selling it at $20 for the single user.
With that, you can run mostly everything that runs in Tiger, providing you specify Rosetta to be installed (custom installs).
You will almost certainly have problems with printer and scanner drivers unless they're very new models.
Also, some software may need updates (Adobe in particular) not all of which are free.
Normally, you can install 10.6.3 directly over the Tiger installation without upsetting your user data, applications or preferences, but you should always back up to an external drive, preferably as a bootable clone (you can use the Restore function in Disk Utility or a number of third-party apps for this).
I've done 8 installs from Tiger to SL; 6 of them went without any problems, but 2 of them wouldn't install until I erased the HDD and did a clean installation. Should that be necessary, you migrate your data back from the external during the Setup process.
For Lion, your specification is minimal and you can't make use of more than another GB of RAM (your maximum is 3GB). It would run, but very slowly.
Also, Lion doesn't have Rosetta and will not run older PPC applications (like Apple Works and older versions of MS Office), or indeed drivers for peripherals that were written in PPC code, so you'd be looking at more expense to replace a lot of programmes.

The only way to solve this error is to edit the host file in your system. All you need to do is to add the following line at the end of the host file:

I have an Ipod touch 6 and can't updated apps. When I click update, nothing happen. Any clue?
    Thanks,

There is no iPod Touch 6.  The latest generation is iPod Touch 5.  Perhaps you mean you have an iPod running iOS 6.1.6.  If so, you have a 4th generation iPod which cannot update past 6.1.6.  A 5th generation iPod can run iOS 7
