I have iMovie '11, and I am unable to access mpeg HD video files that I want to edit. The files are fine (I can open and watch them using VLC), but I cannot seem to import the files into iMovie. File Import does not work. Any suggestions??
More detail: I have a bunch of mpeg HD video files that were shot on a SONY HDR-HC3 Handycam camcorder. I would like to edit these into a single video production. I can access and view the mpeg files using VLC (Quicktime does not work with them). However, I seem to be unable to get the mpeg files to interface with iMovie '11 -- I cannot use the File --> Import command, nor can I drag-and-drop them into iMovie.
Is there something anyone might suggest to get this to work? Or are these files incompatible with iMovie? If so, I assume I must purchase a different video editing software program (e.g. Adobe Premeir Pro). Suggestions???

Yes, I tried that. The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size. I opened that destination folder from quick time from where it said select image sequence. I clicked on the first one and opened it. The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go. When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie. The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation? Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.

By the way, if you are still interested, I found a solution. It's a bit crazy, but basically I have insulated the parts of the keyboard connector corresponding to the power button using some thin tape and then used a very thin wire going from the logicboard (where the test pads for startup are located) to my eject key, this way the original power button does not respond anymore and the eject key can be used as the power button, just like in the new Airs

This morning, I wanted to listen to some music on my iMac via my earphones but the computer, did not get any more my earphones. Indeed, when I puts the sound, this one takes out outer loudspeakers and not my earphones. They are not posted in the preferences sound. I tried earphones on my mp3, they worked.

Thank you!It sounds like the headphone jack on your iMac is having problems. One solution you might try is to insert and remove the earphones' jack several times. Sometimes this clears it up.
If that doesn't work, you will probably need to have the iMac repaired. Is it under warranty or AppleCare? If so it should be covered at no charge. Contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the iMac in to an Apple retail store or service provider. If you are outside of warranty they can give you an estimate for the cost.

Laoding files into layers from bridge does not work
Using photoshop ver 14.2.1x64 and bridge on a PC.. While in Bridge, I selected 2 pictures, selected tools, photoshop and load files into layers. It does not work. any ideas of how to make it work

When trying to PDF a webpage into a PDF, it does not work, I go through all the steps as normal, and It does nothing. I can repeat my action, where instead of "printing" to adobe, it saves the file, which it doesn't save it at all. I can't even find the original in my work folder. I need to know how to stop this from happeing and get it back to the way it has been working he last 6 months since i purchased this program.

Are you able to print the webpage to 'Adobe PDF' to convert it to pdf.

Thank you I tried the reset again did not fix- I think I am down to calling Apple and paying for a tech - phone company says it is a software problem. I just updated to 8.1.3 - I thought the update might fix it.

Thanks for your prompt reply. However, the sources you gave do not seem to apply exactly to my situation. I have attached some screenshots that show what the dialogue box looks like for a pdf download, and what my settings in the Apps panel of Options are. You will note in the first screenshot that I have checked the box to handle this file type automatically; however, the next time I try to download a file of that type, the same dialogue box appears looking exactly like the one shown, so checking the "automatic" option appears to do nothing. The files to be downloaded from my Gmail messages are not generic or altered file types - they are shown as pdf, doc, docx, etc. So while your intent was good, your post did not help. Connect the iPod to irs syncing computer and restore via iTunes/ Place the iPod in Recovery mode if necessary to allow the restore.

I use OverDrive to get audiobooks from my library to listen on my ipod. Does not work since latest update of ipod. Converts the WMA and acts like it is putting it on the ipod but then it isn't there.

Just downloaded the new OS onto my iMAC and now the "swipe" feature on my mouse does not work, i.e. I can't go back and forth between web pages. Is this a function of the new OS?
What kind of mouse do you have? USB? Have you tried to plug it in - try all the USB ports (maybe there is a problem with one). It should automatically detect it.

The router might be bad or incompatible, but let's be optimistic.
On System Preferences, go to Network/Advanced/PPP. Only two items should be checked: Connect Automatically When Needed and Disconnect when switching user accounts. Uncheck everything else. Now, click Okay on the end of the page. The next time you're online, you shouldn't be disconnected.
If you still get disconnected like before, we might be dealing with a router issue - which can get rather complicated.
