I have installed a ringtone but phone does not ring on incoming calls

I Have an Iphone 4S, it came with vibration set as default ringtone, I changed the ringtone but the phone does not ring on incoming calls, What is wrong?

Also, you may want to do a reboot, hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appers, so that everything is reset.

phone does not ring during incomming call

Is the phone silenced? Check the button on the side of the phone above the volume buttons if you see an orange line it is silienced, slide it to the front of the phone and it should correct this.  Also ensure the volume is up.  If you've checked these and still nothing are you able to call people? do you have service?

  • My i4s phone does not ring on incoming calls.  The settings appear to be correct

My i4s phone does not ring on incoming calls.  The settings appear to be correct for the phone to ring.
Also, during a call, when I hit the speaker buttom, I can neither hear nor be heard by the other party
    Any suggestions?

Try a factory restore, this might be a software problem so just plug into itunes and go and click the restore button. If this doesnt fix it then its a hardware problem meaning you need to head to an apple store for a replacement.

  • Phone does not ring on incoming calls

    Hi,
I hope someone can help or advise on my issue - see points 3 and 4.
    1. Tested with 2 analogue phones - 1 phone definetley known to be working at a separate location - and a mobile phone.
    2. All tests conducted twice - at master socket and internal test socket/  ALL other extensions& broadband line connections removed during testing.
    3. Incoming calls do not ring on the analogue phones, but calls can be answered if analogue phone is picked up.
    4. When hanging up on an incoming call, the analogue phones do not kill the open line. I have to terminate the call on the mobile as well.
    5. Outgoing calls can be made and picked up by mobile with no issues.
    6.  Online BT Line Check reports no faults on the line.
    7. Both analogue phones were checked to make sure they are not in silent mode.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks
    Ben

I had this problem recently - caused by a fault in the BT line box just outside the house.
    3. If you ring your number from a mobile do you hear the phone ringing in the mobile? I my case there was just a short ring heard in the mobile and then silence - picking up analogue phone you could then talk to mobile.
    3. This is normal. Reverse cleardown takes some time - I think it is about 10 mins. I often use this feature when I pick up a call on one phone and want to move to another extension. I just replace the first phone, so no phones are connected, then go to the other extension and pick up the call.

  • Phone does not ring with incoming call

My iPhone 4 is not ringing -- and it's not set to silent or vibrate. I believe this may be a cell reception problem as sometimes my voicemail isn't available either. I tried turning the **** thing off and restarting it but that didn't help. I am ready to ditch the iPhone, which I love, because of its poor reception capabilities. Any other ideas out there? Help!

That would be fine, razmee, but my carrier AT&T says it is doing the best it can do. I am in a rural area and 1 mi away from 3G service. Sometimes my reception is ok and sometimes not. In the meantime I am trying to find a work-around as I am not sure if 1: the problem is caused by poor service and 2: if it is, are there any solutions.

Have an iPhone 5. Phone does not ring when calls come in and texts sent from non-iPhones are delayed by 4-5 hours before receiving.

This morning I woke up thinking that I should turn off my iPhone and then call it from a land line.  If the problem is the network then there would be a delay before I heard ringing.
I turned my iPhone off and called it.  Right away I heard my message.
I turned my iPhone back on and called it.  It rang right away!
So, did Virgin Mobile fix the problem or did turning my iPhone off fix the problem?
I don't know, but I'll take either.  I do know that Virgin Mobile said it would be four days to check the problem.  Did the problem get fixed yesterday when the four business days were up.  I do know that I've had my iPhone on for a long, long time.  Did upgrading to 6.1.1 or 6.1.2 cause the problem and turning my iPhone off reset my iPhone?
If you have delayed ringing problem and turning your iPhone off and on again resolved it, please post a note here.
P.S. I did call Virgin Mobile and its records show the investigation is still open.  I hope my points get passed on to the investigators.
P.P.S. Reading my notes, I had turned my iPhone off and on last week.  Maybe it's all the phase of the moon.

  • TS2634 My iPhone 4s does not ring for incoming calls. Ring tone is set/settings/sound. It used to ring. I think it has to do with updating to IOS 7.0.4? After updating IOS 7.0.3 my microphone stopped working. Had to clear/reload.

My iPhone 4s does not ring for incoming calls. Ring tone set and used to ring. I think it has something to do with updating the IOS 7.0.4. When I updated to 7.0.3 the microphone stopped working. Had to call Apple Support and cleared phone and reloaded. ($57 charge). Any suggestions?

Start with your finger at the bottom of the screen (about even with the home button) and swipe in an upward motion.  There should be a row of icons at the top of a grey field.  if the quarter-moon icon is bright white, tap it.  If it was (and still is) dark, take the iPhone in to be evaluated by a qualified technician.

  • I have installed Adobe Flash but firefox does not show as plugin

I have downloaded the most recent versions of Firefox (30.0) and Adobe Flash Player. The Adobe website tells me my flash player is installed and current but Firefox does not show it as a plug in and a site that requires flash player (google finance) to view charts does not work. The place for the chart remains blank after telling me it has loaded.
    Any thoughts?

When a page is using a plugin, usually an icon similar to a piece of Lego appears in the address bar. You can click the logo to check that Flash is allowed to run on the page, or approve it to run if it isn't.
I randomly picked a stock and enlarged the chart and got the following URL. Any luck with this one: http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&chdd=1&chds=1&chdv=1&chvs=maximized&chdeh=0&chfdeh=0&chdet=1405540800000&chddm=1173&chls=IntervalBasedLine&q=NASDAQ%3AAAPL&ntsp=0&fct=big&ei=YJzGU_iiEZSziALE4oCYCg

  • Phone can dial out but does not ring on incoming calls

We have a strange problem with a 7961G phone. It's configured the same as all of our other phones in CMM, but it can dial out but when dialing in the phone does not ring nor does the call appear to be routed to the phone. I called out from the phone to my cell and it displays the correct Caller ID information. Any ideas???

I would check the partition that the DN on the called phone is in and the CSS of the calling phone. These are the two fundamental principles that control when a phone can call another phone.
You might want to change the partition of the called DN to momentarily, to see that the calling phone can call it. All phones can call the partition unless there are explicit blocks put in place.

  • Phone does not ring when people call your number

A lot of people have complained that when they call my phone I never answer even though the phone rings. However, the iPhone does not show a missed call. Years later I get a voicemail indicator. My phone shows full signal strength and the thing never rings. I have noticed this way too many times so I decided to post this question to see if anyone else has noticed the same thing.

The most common causes for this behavior:
    1. Bad coverage/roaming (unlikely, since you said you have good AT&T coverage)
    2. Frequent EDGE use (calls will go to voicemail if you are actively using EDGE)
    3. Defective or improperly set ringer (if this were the problem, you'd be registering a lot of "missed calls" in your Recents list, which I assume you are not)
    4. Bad SIM card
If you have eliminated #1-3, then it is likely #4. You can get your SIM swapped out very quickly at the AT&T store.

  • IPhone 4 does not ring for incoming calls

I got the iPhone 4 two days ago, and I noticed that when someone calls me, the phone will vibrate, but it will not ring.  The volume on the ringer is set to the highest level.  I downloaded an update for the phone 2 days ago.  What can I do to get my phone to ring?  Do you think the update had anything to do with the problem?
Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello Dracheskind,
Have you corrected the issue with the ringtone volume? If not, make sure the Ring/Silent button above the volume keys is turned on (if off, orange sticker will appear). Then go to settings > sounds > Ringer and Alerts > change the volume to loud. The vibrate options can stay on. If all of these settings are enabled, try changing the ringtone.

Can anyone help.  My new iPhone 5S does not ring for incoming calls.  It vibrates.  How can I get ringer to work?

    Hello lyngos,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:

If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
    Best of luck,
    Mario
