I find the Air easier to work with if I need a keyboard if, for no other reason, that's more compact to carry around than the iPad and a keyboard, even one that is part of an iPad case. I also often have to access data from one application when using another, and iOS is not at its best when having to do rapid application switching (Command-Tab switching is a lot faster than the double press home, scroll the icons at the bottom and swap).
As well, for editing I find the lack of sandboxing on OSX allows for efficiency enhancing utilities across applications, something you don't get in iOS. I understand the reason for that, but while more secure it also creates issues of its own in terms of usability in a number of situations.
I prefer the iPad for totally single application focused situations where little or no input is required. I use my iPad to hold copies of manuals when I'm doing a full day continuing education presentation for CPAs. A MacBook Aire can't really fill in very easily for that usage.
I see them each as tools appropriate for different jobs.

Sorry for being unclear.
When I am using the update in the App Store App, there will be a list of various applications that have updates to be installed (Final Cut Pro will be in this list). I will already be logged in with the Apple ID I use for everything (my dev account). I will be able to update all of the other various applications needing updating except for my Final Cut Pro. When I click the update button next to the FCP update, it will give me an error saying "This download is not available for this apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled"
I have not had any applications refunded or cancelled and this has only happened since my update to Yosemite. FCP was working fine until the upgrade. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Good morning, I installed ios6 on the new iPad and siri will not work. Each time I try to use siri she says "uh oh, I'm having a problem. Please try again. I have tried turning siri off and back on again. Resetting the iPad, resetting the network, turning Airplane Mode off and on again. All to know avail. My iphone 5 works great and so does my wife's iphone 4s with ios6. I have called Apple support but there only suggestion was that the servers were busy. If that was the case my other devices would not work either. Plus the servers wouldn't be busy for four days. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I was looking forward to using siri on the new iPad and other folks don't seem to be having a problem.

Then you need to change your device details as this still says iPad2.
It's very possible Apple's servers have been busy for 4 days as not everyone downloaded iOS 6 on the day it was announced. I downloaded it last Friday, myself, as an example.
There are a millions and millions of people using Apple iDevices.
Just because everything went fine with the iOS 6 updates of your iPhone 4 and 5 doesn't mean something couldn't have gone wrong with an update to your iPad3
If the iOS update missed something during the download, I am not sure how to go about re-downloading iOS 6 to fix the issue you are having.

EA68, who is your broadband provider, if it is Sky then they have recently merged with Yahoo, and there have been similar problems with people who use Mail to access their emails.
If this is the case you will need to remove your SKY account from Mail and then set it up again.
Make sure you clear your inbox, and back up any important emails you have.
IN MAIL go to prefrences and accounts. Highlight SKY account and select the MINUS or delete sign.
Now select the PLUS or add button and type in your sky email address, and then your sky password. Follow on screen instructions, and your emails should then work.
Hope this solves your problem.

As of Firefox 17.0 and newer one needs both Intel (which you have) and at minimum OSX 10.6. You may be able to update to OSX 10.6 or newer.

It sounds like you are wanting to update the Apps that were synced over from your computer to your new iPhone 5s. If you are clicking Updates in the App Store in the bottom right corner, would you mind clarifying what happens when you are trying to update them?

Not sure how far you've gotten, so i'll start from the beginning.
After you downloaded the PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Win_en_US.zip
right click on it and choose Extract All
In the Extract dialog check Show extracted files when complete
Then the window should open showing a folder as below
If you double click on that folder, then there is a pdf with instructions for installing the plugins
If you still need help with installing we can assist you

On the computer you should be able to go to the network properites. Go to the TCP part and unchec the line that says obtaind DNS automatically and check the one that says use the following. Add the 8.8.8.8 and Google other 8.8.4.4.

Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

I do not have any experience with Final Cut, but if you have existing projects that you MUST access; then you are in need of a solution on your new iMac in Mountain Lion!
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. Purchase a used Mac that will run Snow Leopard (with the optional Rosetta installed) and continue to run FCE on that Mac (you can actually use Screen Sharing with a "headless" used Snow Leopard Mac Mini and use the 27" screen from your iMac to view and work FCE in the Mac Mini environment);
2. Upgrade to an Intel compatible version of FCE and hope it converts your existing projects to its newer format correctly. There is much debate that the newer version of Final Cut are eliminating many needed features; for example Final Cut Pro X vs. Final Cut Pro 6 -- many users are staying with version 6;
3. Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels and then install FCE in the Snow Leopard environment:

New mac mini system will not recognize wireless keyboard and trackpad.

My brand new mac mini system will not initialize properly. The return on the track pad are not being recognized, although scrolling is. Any others find this? Support could not figure this out on the phone. They sent me out to get new batteries and now they are closed. Batteries have been changed and still nothing.

My Mac MINI gave me one heck of a time trying to get it to recognize my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. both Apple brand.
I finally had to connect an old USB mouse and keyboard to get the silly thing to connect.
Don't forget to repair permissions.
I also had to shut the computer down and start it back up a couple of times before it would connect. I think it has to do with the new Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology.
I also turned off my Bluetooth devices and turned them on again, then I pulled the batteries out a couple of times and tried again and again.
I also put in new battries even thiough the ones I replaced were about a week old.
Finally, the MINI recognised the mouse and keyboard.
I wish I could tell you which thing did the trick.
