If you have a little Firewire adaptor, everything should work fine. It does on my system.

It's not your wording that's at issue. It's the incorrect information you provided. Go back and read my reply.
I'm sorry but I can't help your mis-wording. I can only make sense from what you have written. Your location is the UK so I must assume English is your first language without other information to go by.
If you wrote the same thing a hundred times in one day, then you'd use copy and paste, too. So don't insult those of us who do.

Turn off Find My iPhone in iCloud on the iDevice.
Log out of iMessage, Facetime, remove Apple ID from iTunes & App Store.
Use Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set it up as a new iPhone with your own Apple ID.

  • HT204053 My husband and I both have iPhones but we only have one iPad. We use the same apple ID because we also share the same email address. How would this work with iCloud because we don't share the same contacts?  Thanks Elainecontacts

    Thanks

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user.  That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) .  When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device.  You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc.  itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account.

  • My brand new mac pro always had Internet connection issues at school. WHY is that? I see the school's Internet working perfectly fine on other PC's, but there is never a day where my mac doesn't have Internet connection issues at school. How do I fix it?

I got my mac pro in the middle of August. School started the week after. Internet was working perfectly fine at home. But at school, I never had a good connection. Sometimes on the good days I get a connection when I'm sitting at the exact spot in class I always sit at. It's ridiculous and it's frustrating. I invested my money into this laptop and I'm beginning to regret it. I thought it was the school's Internet, but I don't see Internet issues with other PC users. It's most frustrating on registration days and I'm trying to register for my classes before it gets taken, but again... Internet connection issues. It's random. Majority of the time, it doesn't work at all. I've done Network Diagnosis and turning WiFi off then turning it on again. I've done everything I could. I put my money on this laptop and it was a lot of money. I could have bought an 800 dollars laptop and I would have Internet connection anywhere on campus. So, I don't want to continue everyday to regret on buying this laptop every time I try to connect to the Internet at school or Starbucks or anywhere else. How do I fix this? What's the problem ?
At school, I heard this guy had a problem with Internet connections too and he owned a new mac book pro. He said something like Apple messed up on something, but he fixed it. If I knew mac book pro's had these issues I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. It's freezing on me every other day. It's ridiculous. But what concerns me the most is the Internet connection. So someone please tell me what can I do next to prevent the problem? Am I doing something wrong maybe?

    Hi Kevin,
I'm using an XLR input mic which is connected to the phantom power enabled XLR mic socket on a USB M-Audio M-Track. The M-Track is connected by USB to the Mac Pro - so effectively I've got an M-Audio USB soundcard with a mic input.  I've also tried a microphone that is a straight XLR to USB cable (guessing with some soundcard chip buried in the usb plug) but that also yields the same effect of bad latency, intermittent quality, stuttering and repeating and echoing (without the speakers on during record so its not feedback).
The mic works absolutely fine with other recording applications I have on the mac at the moment - albeit non-adobe ones (tested it on the EasyAudioRecorder - and it lives up to its name. it's easy)
I will try with Audition and report back, but sitting here right now I can imagine it would work fine with audition too - it just seems to be the way premiere is set up for recording into the timeline is a bit sketchy.  I'm willing to accept it might well be a quirk with the new Mac Pro trashcan - I'm not weighting all the woes on premiere.
Any thoughts or am I out of luck to sit with my fingers crossed for a fix in the next round of updates?
    Nathan.

  • "Open link in new tab" not working with Safari and new Yahoo Mail won't open in new tabs.  Yahoo says it is a Safari issue.  I don't think so.

    Any ideas?
Works fine in classic Yahoo mail.  But in the "new" Yahoo mail, there is not even an option to open in new tab when I right click the message to be opened.  Interestingly enough, I can right click open to new tab on any other link on the same page that the emails are listed in.
Anyone encounter this?  Have a solution?
    Thanks.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.
    Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. Try Yahoo / tabs. If it functions as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash. Otherwise move it back to the Preferences folder.
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari. Try again.

  • Brand new mac pro has blank screen on start up...why? Can here instructions but can't see

I hae a brand new mac pro and the screen is blank during start up. ***...I can here instructions but can't see screen.

That Mac comes with 90 days free phone support from trained Applecare reps. You should take advantage of it.
Another alternative is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar and have them put their hands on it.
Be sure you do something before your 14-day return/exchange (if you bought it direct from Apple) expires, or you may face a 3 to 5 day repair cycle.
Shine a bright light at the screen when it has booted up.
¿ Is the picture "there" but not lit up?   that could be a backlight failure.
The F2 key is used to turn up the brightness, if it accidentally got turned down low.

  • New Mac Pro vs firewire iSight

I have a mid 2010 Mac pro dual quad, I just got my hands on a new never used firewire iSight. Problem 1 the new mac's have changed the firewire configuration, luckily I had an adapter I bought when I purchased my 2010 macbook pro. problem 2 the camera only worked with iChat. After searching the forums, and trying everything from resetting the PRAM etc... I ran across this old thread
    "http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1954490&start=25&tstart=250"
Thus the camera being still new, but old had the old 1.02 firmware, and needed to be updated to 1.03. Problem 3 Snow leopard does not have the updater, you need 10.5 or older to update the firmware. Lucky for me I had an old Blue iMac in the corner (that was another project), I fired it up and updated the firmware. Now life is good, the camera works with all the apps. The thread is old, but I found it to be the most help. Hats off to EZ Jim & company!

    You're welcome.
    Thanks for the kind words.
To save some searching for readers running Mac OS X 10.4 or later who are trying to manually
upgrade external (Firewire) iSight's Firmware to version 1.0.3, your options are here:
     http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10084429&#10084429
    <hr width="85%">
Alternatively, user Malcolm Rayfield has suggested another way to apply the
1.0.3 iSight firmware update *using a Snow Leopard Mac.*
    • Download the updater that was provided for Mac OS X 10.3.7-10.3.9 from
      http://support.apple.com/downloads/iSightUpdater_1_03
    • Double click the iSightUpdater103.dmg if necessary to see the "iSightUpdater103.pkg" .
    • Right-click the iSightUpdater103.pkg icon and click "Show Package Contents."
    • Open the Contents folder and double-click the Archive.pax.gz file.
    • That will unzip an Applications folder that contains a Utilities folder.
    • Inside the Utilities folder is the iSight Updater 1.0.3 folder.
    • Open the the iSight Updater 1.0.3 folder to find the iSight Updater 1.0.3 app.
    • Double clicking the iSight Updater 1.0.3 app will run it.
    • Note that iSight Updater 1.0.3 is a PowerPC application, so your 10.6 Mac will need Rosetta to run it.
If you have not already installed Rosetta, click the Updater and follow your Mac's on-screen instructions.
If you have difficulty or merely do not want to add Rosetta to your Mac, your Apple Tech
can do the firmware for you, or you can use one of the other options described in the link above.

  • BB DESKTOP SOFTWARE STOPPED WORKING WITH OLD AND NEW PHONE

Im running 10.6.8 on my Macbook pro. The problem started with previous Mac already. The BDS starts up, connects with phone but can not backup, restore or update phone. Get the following error msg. "DBS failed, device could not be backed up. This started on my previous mac already, older version of software.
I uninstalled, re-isntalled the software many times and in the end thought it must be by phone - BB9700. Now on new phone BB9900 and same problem. Tried again re-installing the software, dumping all prefs etc - no luck. i installed the software on a different Mac at the office running same software and the phone backed-up, no problem.
can anyone help. what can i try.

I guess that you are using the latest software available for BDS.
From what I see there, this could indeed come from a corrupt file on your MB Pro.
I would suggest to uninstall completely the BDS software and to be sure that all related files have been deleted too. This is probably the most "challenging part". If I remember correctly there is an uninstaller provided with the disk image, so use this one and then search for any other BDS file using Spotlight or the shareware "AppZapper" which is used to delete all files related to a specific software at once!
If you say that it is working perfectly on another computer, the phone is not the cause of the problem logically.
A good idea is also to repair the permissions on your Mac starting up from the original DVD and using the disk utility software. This will help your Mac anyway
    Hope this helps.

  • New mac pro has not enough disk space to install from old mac pro

So, I bought the new shiny black cylinder Mac pro, but it comes with just 250gb flash memory, not enough to install the 600gb+ I have on my older MacPro hard drive.  I backed up with time machine to my G-RAID, but during install it could not find the backup.  (At least I think it couldn't. It said it found one on the G-Raid but that it was last backed up in 2010!)  So I attached my older MacPro in terminal mode and tried to install from there.  Not enough space to install my User folder.  So now I am installing Applications only.  This is going to be a major pain in the neck, I fear.  Why did Apple do this to us?  Don't they realize there have been folks like me who have bought just about every machine since the Apple II+ and have accumulated a ton of data?  Sure, a 250gb flash memory drive is going to be faster and easier for Apple to manage, but why not give us a way to downsize without having to manually figure out what to do with our iphoto and macmail libraries?  Has anyone else gone through this and come up with a good solution?

  • Does the new Mac Pro has an air filter?

I think that if you pay this huge price from a computer, you should get an air filter too, but do you?

The Mac Pro late 2103 does not appear to have an air filter.
It is a departure from the forced air cooling used in previous Mac Pros to cooling largely based on the "Chimney Effect", slightly boosted by the top fan.
It also does not have a lot of nooks and crannies to accumulate dust. But time will tell whether it needs to be blown out from time-to-time.
I expect it will work just fine in the upright position without an air filter. If you choose to run it mounted sideways (which Apple says is allowable), that may change everything toward a more "forced-air" cooling model. In that case a lot more air may be needed, and a filter might be helpful.
Generally speaking, users are bad about cleaning filters, and instead of being helpful, filters cause an overheating disaster.

  • I have a MacBook and created a slideshow on IPhoto. I made copies (discs) of the slideshow and they did not come out well...how can I create discs with the same quality as the original?

I created an IPhoto slideshow.... the quality was wonderful on my MacBook and through my projector. I was told to export to my desktop and create copies via IDVD. I did that and the copies are terrible quality. 1. How to I make a copy to look exactly like the original and 2. I do I save as a backup should my Mac crash? Please.... this took a long time to create and I really need help. Thanks!
