I have iphoto 9 (version 8.1.2). When I opened up iphoto it said that I had 0 pictures (it had over a 1,000) prior. My screen saver was and has been set to a foler in iphoto and still displays the photos. How do I retrieve my pictures?

When opening Iphoto (Iphoto 9 version 8.1.2) I went from hundreds of photos to 0. I looked in my harddrive and could not locate the pictures under library or photos. I tried rebuilding the system (ctl. alt. and opeing the program). I would assume all my pictures are lost except for when my screen saver runs, I still see all of my old photos. How can I retrieve my photos?

go in to finder than photos they should be somwhere in there. after you find them select add to iphoto

Has anyone else discovered that their MacBookPro has been set up for 'no available users' and so cannot use any new applications?

I've had my MacBook Pro for several months. Sadly I've not been able to use it for my work (I'm a writer) as I couldn't open my software, Final Draft. I installed it several times, uninstalling it each time to avoid glitches, but every time I tried to open it I had an error message, that the permissions had to be reset. I went onto disk utilities and did everything I could to reset/repair. I spent days and weeks on the phone both to Apple and to Final Draft, but no one could help.
Apple were adamant that it was a software error and so today I bought yet another version of Final Draft (£140), this time from the net, and downloaded that. Same old same old. Once again, over and over, I followed the 'trouble shooting permissions' advice on the Apple website, still no luck. Finally, finally, tonight, a technician was able to take me through an obscure routine which ended up with the message that my laptop had been set up with 'No Available Users'.
In effect it's a useless piece of metal and has been from day one.

I'm not sure that I followed everything, but you got a replacement phone and continue to experience problems? It sounds like a logical move would be to have AT&T replace your SIM card. I would doubt that the size/fit is an issue, these things are a standard size, but replacing the SIM will have an impact on the network set-up that might be the root cause.

I keep getting the error message when I try to enter a new event or edit an existing event to my calendar:

Well, there's a lot we don't know ... for example, if you have actually set up a calendar somewhere you're trying to sync to.
Anyway, with no other information than what you provided, here's a possible troubleshooter:

Backup catalogs wouldn't have helped with this problem anyway, but naturally, you shouldn't delete backup catalogs for a while.

I have compressor version 3.0.1. when I open the application, I cant open a batch window to drag files to it. Any ideas how to fix this??

I did an update to the system and now compressor doesnt pop open when i click on it. The program opens but I cant get a batch window to compress anything. HELP

This is a Compressor "4" forum, but, here goes.
Look in the Preferences, there's an option to turn it on and off.
New Batch is in the File menu, and is Cmd+N.

just opening a thread as Vision is down and has been since sometime between 4 - 4:30ish. I made the mistake of rebooting my box and now can't get past the bootup screen until it's back up again. I found our black box would not record yesterday about mid-day with an error message. Rebooted as directed and it would not get past the "Give it 5 mins." screen, phoned 1114567 and got thro' to India - tech tried everything but no go so said I should do a factory reboot.
Did this by holding down front off button for 10 secs then OK and down buttons for 3 secs - no fun just came to red X. So he organised a technician vist for Thursday. After that I did about 6 further resets and this morning it burst into life! We have not lost any recordings.

Thanks a lot i followed the instructions for safe mode (i found out that i was pressing the C button after restarting) i did whats written there but the repair couldn't be performed so in addition i needed to re-formate the HD so i erased the volume and then repaired the disk--> quite disk utilities --> start the installation from the installation DVD.

I'm having a bit of trouble confirming that the ZyXEL is a combination modem & wireless-N router. If it is, then you really won't get any advantages of using the 802.11g AirPort.
If the range of your ZyXEL is limited, you may find that doing either or both of the following will help: 1) Move the ZyXEL so that it is higher vs. lower in the room, that is away from any closed areas or placed in a metal cabinet, and 2) Changing radio channels. The latter is especially important in you live in an area where there are a number of competing Wi-Fi.
A good utility to find out, is iStumbler. You would use this to find these other Wi-Fi and find which have the strongest signal value. Those that do, you would also want to note which channel they are operating on, and then, change yours to one that is at least 3-5 channels away. So, for example, if you find strong ones on channels 1 & 6, change yours to 11.
