I have iTunes ver 10 on a PC with Playlists which do not sync to an Itouch or Nano (6th Gen). Also, all the music does not appear when I check entire library and there is enough memory on the device. When I select to manually manage music on the summary tab and selected playlists on the music tab nothing changes. Either way all the music isn't on either device and the playlists are not on either device. Please advise next steps. Thank you.

Connect the device to the computer.
In iTunes, select the content desired to sync.
Sync.
This is all described in the User's Guide, reading it may be a good place to start.

Cannot Select Both "Manually manage music" and "Sync ringtones" for iTunes

iTunes won't let me sync when both "manually manage music and videos" and "sync ringtones" is checked. If I choose "manage music and videos" first, add my music, then check "sync ringtones" all my music that I sync'd is deleted. The only way it worked for me was to sync the ringtones first without any music in the iPhone then checking "manually manage music and videos" afterwards but the problem is that once the "manual manage music and videos" is checked the "sync ringtones" isn't checked anymore so if I decide to add a ringtone later on I have to check "sync ringtone" causing my music to be deleted from the iPhone. If you manually manage music, to get ringtones on your phone, you have to drag them to the "actual iphone icon" in the device pane window, on the left side in itunes.
FYI:
Since the iphone DOES NOT support disk mode(like some ipods), there is no advantage to manually managing music, IMO.

Yesterday everything was syncing up fine with my Ipod Nano 6th gen. Today I'm getting conflicts and my songs and audio books are completely gone from my Ipod. The message says that it can not be played on this Ipod. They played before.

I've been using my Ipod for over a year now without issue.   Today I downloaded some new audio books from Itunes and when I tried to sync up, it would not work and all of the books and music that I had on my Ipod are gone from my Ipod. They still show up in my Itunes library.   The only thing I see that is different is that now there is a "cloud" symbol next to my library content.   This makes no sense to me. Please help.

I'm not sure if it charged when I hooked it up to my roommate's computer, but it definately didn't register either. If I put it on the dock it plays so the port is fine, but that still doesn't help me sync it to my computer.

Cannot delete music from iPod nano (latest generation). Have already selected "Manually Manage music and videos" but delete is unavailable from right click or Edit.

Did you Apply the change after selecting (checking the box for) Manually manage music and videos?
With the latest iTunes, if the sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, select the iPod under DEVICES. Click the toggle (to the left of iPod) to drop down the iPod's content list, indented under iPod. Click on Music there. Over to the right, the list of songs on the iPod is shown. You can select songs there, right click on them, and select Delete from the contextual menu. You can also select songs there, go up to the menu bar, and select Delete under Edit. You can also select songs there, and just press the Delete key on the keyboard.
If you want to use automatic syncing, which is far more convenient than the manual method, and easily manage content on the iPod (add and remove songs), please post back.

My Ipod touch is set to manually manage music. I have put music from my computer and iTunes account onto it, and music from other people's computer and iTunes accounts on it. Unfortunately I dropped my iPod and the screen cracked. It still plays music and everything just fine, but it has problems with it's battery life so I'd like to just get a completely new iPod nano. From what I can tell it won't let me sync any of the music on my iPod touch that is from other people's computers onto my laptop, and so I wouldn't be able to put it on a new iPod nano. How do I find the summary page on ITunes. Have new Windows 8 and have to change to manually manage music

I have downloaded audiobooks from the library using Overdrive for years. I have a new computer with Windows 8 and now it's been difficult. I have a book ready to transfer to ITunes to download to my Ipod but in order to transfer it a message came up saying go to the summary page in ITunes and check Manually Mange Music. I can't find the summary page anywhere on itUNES

The Summary screen is what you see in the main part of the iTunes window, when you select the iPod in iTunes.
To select the iPod in iTunes when the iTunes sidebar is NOT visible, there is a "device button" near the upper right corner of the iTunes window. If your iPod is the only connected device, it should say "iPod." Click it to select your iPod in iTunes.
If the iTunes sidebar IS visible (along left side of window), the iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Click it there to select it.
When the iPod is selected, there is a row of buttons that starts with Summary. Summary should be the initially displayed screen. That setting (a checkbox) is actually Manually manage music and videos for an iPod touch.

ITunes 10.6.1.7 - Manually manage music with iPhone no longer queues selections

I couldn't decide if this was an iTunes or an iPhone related issue so I opted to place it in the iTunes discussions since it's more related to its features than the iPhone.
I just discovered that when you have your iPhone set up to "Manually manage music and videos" it no longer queues your selections as you drag and drop music or playlists. What I mean is in previous iterations of iTunes, I could drag and drop as many playlists on the iPhone in the DEVICES window of iTunes and hundreds of songs would literally queue up showing you the number XX of XXXX in the top window of the program, of which the latter number increasingly got larger the more music you dropped on your iPhone. With this latest revision, iTunes 10.6.1.7, it no longer queues that music, instead it interrupts what was previously queued with a "Preparing to update" message, stops the previously queued music, and then starts with the newer music you dropped on your iPhone device.
Is this intentional? Is everyone else experiencing this rather odd revision of this program's functionality?

I changed from manually manage music to create more space, and lost a LOT of my music from my current Itunes library. I HAVE to have that music back! How do I go about getting the missing/lost files back on my library and IPod?

I changed from manually managing music to create more space on my IPod and lost a lot of the my music since it synched with another library. ( I think off another long gone computer!) I HAVE to get this music back! There are songs I can no longer find! How do I get this "Cannot locate file for this song" music back on my ITunes library and IPod?

I just turned on my iPod Touch and all my music has been wiped... (my iTunes was set to manually manage music, and all my apps are still on the iPod...).

What has happened and how do I get my music back? Obviously I have some of it on iTunes but others I don't have anymore... I can't understand how my music would suddenly disappear when my iPod has been working fine. My iTunes was set to manually manage music (and even if it hadn't been, then my iPod would have been synced to it anyway, so that can't explain why it's gone) and all my apps are there as usual. It's the version of the iPod touch before the camera was introduced. Please help!

That makes it difficult to provide any assistance. I hate to say this but you chose to manage the music yourself and there's no way that i/we can figure out what you did that caused the problem.

If you want to delete a song from your iOS device on iOS 7, tap Songs, swipe the song from right to left, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.

How can I sync a (one) song from my computer to my iPad without syncing the entire library even though i have my iPad set to manually manage music?

Whenever I try to move just one song from my iTunes library to my iPad, it will start syncing like 300 other songs randomly so I cancel everything. I have my iPad set to manually manage music but it still does that. And what's worse, I never get that one song I chose in the first place. The same thing with photos. I'll sync a photo and it starts syncing music as well. But at least I get the photo just fine.

Easy solution when on itunes simply go to the music tab and press on music library then browse what file which contains the music you want to be added same with photos

I have itunes 12 and the "manually manage music and videos" is not there. "Manually manage videos" is the only option. I use itunes for work and I NEED a fix. I am unable to drag and drop as well.

When wanting to manually manage content on your iOS device, the Knowledge Base article you were referred from provides some great information and practical steps for troubleshooting:

Manually add items to your device
Connect your device to your computer.
Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
Choose the content that you want to add to your device from your iTunes library.
Drag the content to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. A panel should appear. Locate your device.
What if I can't manually add content to or remove content from my device?
To manually manage your content, check to make sure that the "Manually manage music and videos" option is turned on. Then:
Connect your device to your computer.
Open iTunes. Make sure that you have the latest version.
Locate and click on your device.
Click the Summary tab.
Click the box next to "Manually manage music and videos."
Click Apply. If you see a message that your device is synced with another library:
iPhone can only add music or video from a single iTunes Library.
iPad and iPod can add music from multiple iTunes Libraries, but video from only one iTunes Library.
If you choose to manually manage your movies and music with the new iTunes Library, the iTunes content currently on your device will be erased and replaced.
You can’t manually manage music while using iTunes Match on your device.

Is it possible to manually manage music on the iPod Touch and still have your last played info updated?

Hi, I'm running low on my iPod Touch capacity so have set it to 'manually manage music'. However, when on this setting, it doesn't update iTunes with 'last played' information. Is there any way to enable this? I appreciate it's not a huge issue but it is something I ike.
