I have just bought a new computer and want to set up itunes and download all my data from my iphoneaa

I have just bought a new computer how do i update Itunes with my old data

You need to move your iTunes library and other important data(contacts, calendars, pics, etc.) from your old computer to your new computer:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/
Once you do that, authorize your new computer(Store>Authorize this Computer), then backup your iPhone on your new computer, then restore your phone from that backup, followed by syncing your iTunes content back to your phone. The iTunes content currently on your phone will be erased when you first sync on your new computer, but if you move your entire library, you'll just sync the same content back to your phone.

  • TS1967 I have just bought a new computer and downloaded latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I sync my ipod, it shows all the songs but won't play any of the songs in that library.  Also, I can't add new files.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded the latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I plug my ipod and sync it, the music library shows all the songs and videos that are on there, but won't let me play them.  Also, I can't add any new songs to the same library.  It saves them elsewhere. I have had the previous version on another computer and it worked just fine.  I have been online trying to find an answer but nothing.  Hope someone can help me. Thanks

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

    Hi,
If you are using the iTunes command File>Transfer Purchases from iPod, only purchased music is transferred to iTunes from your iPod.
    Hope this helps!

  • I have just bought a new computer with Windows 7 and I need to transfer all my I tunes records from my Windows Xp computer. How do I do this without losing any of my songs?

I have just bought a Compaq Desktop Computer with Windows 7 but I do not want to set itup until I know how to transfer my 1800 songs from my ITUNES library on this old Windows XP Pro to a new set up on my Compaq. If anybody could please help me in simple language ( I am only a user with very little knowledge and nil jargon) I should be most grateful. Is there anybody out there to solve my dilemma?

Did you purchase all your music from iTunes, or import it from CDs?
If you've purchased all your music from iTunes, it now keeps track of your purchased items. All you would need to do is download iTunes on your new computer and log in with your Apple ID (the account you set up on iTunes). Then on the right hand side (in the bar) near the top there is a section that says "Purchased" *NEW*.  There it will show you all your music and give you an option to re-download it on to your new computer. *You will need to authorize the new computer and deactivate the old one if you're not using it anymore*
If you imported your songs (or otherwise obtained), my best suggestion to you is to get a USB stick/thumb drive/external hard drive and copy all your music from your old computer on to the USB stick. (You can do it with a network, but that's assuming you have one set up already in your home).
To do that, you need to go to Music > iTunes > iTunes Library (folder)  (this may not be exact as I use a Mac. I'm going from memory here). Right-click the folder and click "Copy". Go to My Computer and click on whatever drive is your external/USB stick (would be like E:\ or something). Double click on that, then right click in the next window and click Paste. This will copy your entire iTunes Library on to the separate hard drive.
Once it is finished (and with 1800 songs it will take a while, so go read a book or something), properly eject the external hard drive and plug it in to your new computer. Open Music > iTunes and do the same process to copy and paste the folder into there.
Once that is finished, open iTunes and all your music should be there. If not, go File > Import Folder and then find your iTunes Music folder and click it, then click Import and it will import them into iTunes for you.
Hope this helps and is clear enough for you. If you have any other questions, please ask and I'll do my best

  • HT201272 about a year ago, I purchased music from iTunes.  The title was Welcome Back My Friends to the Show that Never Ends.  Ladies and Gentleman...Emerson, Lake and Palmer.  I have just bought a new computer with Win 8. Will not move from i Phone.

As the heading states...I cant transfer this album purchase from my phone to my computer.  Only one song gets moved.
All other titles of music has been transfered.  The Store tries to recharge me if I attempt to reload it on my computer,
    David Miles

" When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs."
    Correct.
" How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer?  "
Copy it from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.

  • I have just bought a new computer and there is no drop down that I can find to authorize this computer. Windows 7

I cannot find a drop down it tthe store to "authorize this comuter" for itunes

    Authorization
Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

  • I just bought a new Macbook. What's the best way to transfer all my info from the old one?

Hey everyone! I just got my new retina display Macbook Pro, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer all my music/photos/files/data/etc. from my old Mackbook Pro. I have a 1TB external drive and an 8GB flash drive that I can use if I need to. Any sugestions? Thanks!

What i did with mine, I cloned the drive of my old macbook to my external drive using carbon copy cloner.
Once i was done with the clone - i used migration assistant to transfer my apps/data/pictures/files over my new macbook....
when using migration assistant - do not transfer your old settngs and if you're doing an app transfer, only transfer the ones you need and that you know will work with your Retina...
    good luck..

  • HT204053 I have just bought a new iPad but I can't see how I can sync all my iPhone photos that are stored on the iCloud onto my iPad. Can someone help?

I have just bought the new iPad but can't see how I would sync all my iPhone photos that are stored on iCloud onto my iPad. Can someone help?

Photos on the camera roll can be included in an icloud backup from an iOS device (if camera roll is turned on).  But getting the photos back from a backup is risky.  Many users have performed restore operations from a backup only to discover the photos were not returned.  icloud is primarily used to sync photos to other devices using photo stream - but only new photos taken after the stream is turned on in Settings>icloud will actually be synced, not old photos.
Settings>icloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage,  tap the device's name and on the next screen, be sure Camera Roll is turned on.
    IMPORTANT...
Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album).  You can then sync the photos to the iPad.

Have you copied them to your new computer from your old one?

Nope, you can install it on your new computer with no issues. The disc contains both the 32 and 64 bit versions.

There are apps you can dowload that will let you sync your contacts across platforms or backup and restore contacts without iTunes.  An app that will sync your contacts is Contacts Sync.  Search the app store and find an app that will meet your needs.

    Hi davadlaw,
You can install Acrobat on the new PC and use your Adobe ID to activate the software.
The purchased subscription is linked to your Adobe ID.

  • I have just bought the new mac and can't set it up as my main computer for iTunes

I have just bought the new mac and have synced it with my ipod but the ipod is not the primary computoer for itunes.
My old computer is the primary one
I have synced my ipad but the apps did not transfer to my mac
    any help would be appreciated
    thx

You have me confused as to where the apps really are. You mention iPod and mention that the iPod isn't your primary computer. Obviously, it can't be - its an iPod. I'm not trying to be a jerk - I just dont understand what that means.
The you say that the old computer is the primary computer for iTunes. That makes more sense. Anyway, you could have transferred the iTunes library from the old computer to the new Mac, but I assume that you did not realize that.
So ... If the apps are on your iPad - but did not transfer to iTunes when you synced the iPad with the new Mac - transfer Purchases. Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left and select Transfer Purchases. That will put the apps in iTunes on the Mac.
Movies cannot be downloaded again for free because Apple does not have an agreement with the movie studios to allow for that. At least that is how I understand the way that works.
