I have just bought a new laptop and downloaded itunes on to it, but because it is new none of the apps i have downloaded are on my laptop, if i connect and sync my iphone 3gs will the apps still be on my phone even tho they are not on my laptop
i use an app on my phone for my bus ticket to get to work and dont want to sync my phone in case i loose my ticket but i have new songs that i would like to put on my phone. does anyone know if i will loose all the apps on my phone if i sync it with my laptop when there are no apps on my laptop, will it just delete all my apps or transfer my apps from my phone to my laptop and still leave them on my phone?
any information would be greatly appreciated.
Use the Transfer Purchases command in the File menu of iTunes.

When you saw this dialog box, did you choose "Erase and Sync"?
If you did, your iPhone was erased, then your iTunes Library was transferred to it. If your iTunes Library was empty, your iPhone will be also.
Your previously purchased music, apps, books, and videos are still yours. You just have to download them again.

I have synced my IPhone 3GS to the newest iTunes version to get IMessage, it worked for a while but now it doesn't work and I have tried resyncing my phone but it still doesn't work. what should I do?
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have been through ALL of the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for investigation. -

Backup do not contain apps (or any media). As far as your contacts go, Apple isn't crystal clear on this ... they seem to indicate that only your Favorites and recent call history is backed up, not your entire set of contacts. To play it safe, backup or transfer your contacts to your computer in case they do not come back after re-loading your backup. There are apps available that can export/import contacts for you.

I made a movie in iMovie then deleted the clips in it. I have reimported the clips in an event with the same name as previously and some clips in the movie are still saying source slip missing even though they are there. Some clips are fine in the movie, but most are just black and when I hover over them, it says source clip missing. How to I fix this? Thank You
I did that too, then I did a migration assistant to a new Mac and ALL of my movies have Source Clip Missing now, even though the original clips are still in the iPhoto Videos. I can stand to re edit one or two projects, but not ALL.

I have just bought off my son his iphone4, we all forgot that he was on o2 (but no longer) I am on vodaphone, got a micro sim card from vodaphone to enable me to keep my number, but it won't unlock, unless i want to spend huge amounts of money and wait 3 weeks, have followed the instructions on itunes for the unlocking but not successful. O2 will and do unlock iPhones for their customers and quite happily compared to some other UK carriers

My iTunes will not sync certain artists to my phone even when they are selected.
So my iTunes will not sync my artists to my iPhone 5. I have them all selected but it doesn't sync the particular artist i want. Ive tried restarting my phone, i updated it, i checked my iTunes for updates and it is all up to date. So i need help. My mac mini is a mid 2011 model running mavericks.
they're not in the proper mp3 format. There are several versions and the iPhone is picky about which one it is.

Some artists dont show up on my list even tho they are on the ipod
When I go thru the menu and click on artists, there are about 10 artists that do not show up. I know that they are on the ipod, and if I go thru albums instead I can find the full album, but it just doesnt show up thru artists. There doesnt seem to be anything odd about the track, and they were uploaded from the cd. Does anyone know whats going on?!
There are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder. -
CS6 Apps still appear in Cloud menu even though they are gone
I've deleted the CS6 apps but the Creative Cloud updater still seems to think they are still there. Is there any way to get that to update what i have or flush them out so they don't clutter up the list?

I only have a portion of songs from my itunes library selected to synch to my iphone 5 (35 songs from one artist). They have always been on my phone without issue, even after updating to the ios7. Just last night however, about half of those songs randomly deleted.....now only 15 of those songs are appearing on my iphone. I tried deselecting that artist when synching my phone to itunes to wipe the songs off completely, and then reselecting that artist's songs to synch to my phone, but again only the 15 songs would show up after the synch. Long story short, all 35 songs are still available in my itunes library, yet only 15 of the songs will synch with my phone. I have never had this problem, even after synching new songs from that artist to my phone when synching it with itunes. Dont know if this has something to do with ios7.....if somebody could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!
I forgot to mention that when I look at the playlist that has been tranferred to the iPhone all the ones that won't play and are greyed out have a sync symbol next to the check mark.

I have just bought a new iphone 4 as an upgrade to my iphone 3GS. How can I transfer all my apps including saved levels in games etc. and data and folders to the new iphone 4 and keep facetime etc on the new iphone 4. When I have done this for someone else they got all their data etc but lost the Face Time App and teh iphone 4 looked like the iphone 3 screen.
There is no FaceTime app for the iphone, FaceTime is built into the iOS. Follow the directions here:

There are apps you can dowload that will let you sync your contacts across platforms or backup and restore contacts without iTunes. An app that will sync your contacts is Contacts Sync. Search the app store and find an app that will meet your needs.

I updated my IPhone 3GS to the new 5.1 operating system and have since had a range of problems with not only my phone but also my IPad.
Programs (Safari, mail, messages) keep crashing, mail will not delete properly (some will keep popping into my inbox again for no reason!!!), slow, settings lock up etc. etc.
This only seemed to become an issue once I updated to ios 5.1 and funnily also affected my Ipad even though i hadn't updated the software yet. I have since updated the software on my ipad thinking it might help too but that only made things worse!! So I am not sure if it's an ICloud issue, but when i try to disable ICloud my devices lock up as well.
The battery life is also shocking!!
I have hard reset both devices, restored both devices, reset the setting and tried a whole host of other suggestions (like closing background programs) on this forum buit nothing works and i am tearing my hair out.
I looked in the phone and ipad log and there do seem to be low memory reports though i don't know why these are occuring now when they never have before??
I don't know if I can restore the old operating system (If I can please let me know how). The phone or ipad are not jailbroken.but you should have a backup in itunes.
Every time you sync your iOS device iTunes creates a backup. go check if its there, iTunes Preferences >Devices. and there you should see if you have a backup, and in case from which date the backup is.
And ofcourse you can get your icloud data back by just logging in with your Appleid under icloud in settings on the iphone.
But anyway, if the iPhone works when you restor it as new: try adding your backup, and see if the issue comes back. And experiment with your backup and try to work out what is causing the issue, my guess is that its some app! Good Luck! -
Just synced my iphone 3GS and now many of my app's won't open on my phone. This was with version 4.3.2. I tried a reboot on my iphone but that didn't help. Any ideas?
this happened to me with my iPhone 4. I researched the problem and found this :
"The reason this happens is because every time a downloaded app is opened it checks for your itunes password for validation that you are authorized to open that app (as it may contain personal info). From time to time the iphone 'forgets' your itunes password. You can fix the missing password by syncing the iphone with itunes or downloading an app from the app store and entering your password that way.”
And to fix it, all I did was download a new app, or delete a current one, I used Facebook, and re-download it.
