I have just bought an ipad mini with ret.display, I wish to link up my MacBook Pro to icloud with my ipad, but my MacBook doesnt have an icloud icon in system preferences. How do I upgrade my MacBook to accept iCloud link.

Most of us are running Mavericks with no problems - others seem to be having various problems (if you check out the Mavericks forum). But I would recommend that you have a current backup whichever way you go.

This update and message appeared last evening but doesn't seem to complete. It also says "downloading", but nothing is happening.
How can I complete the download or eliminate it?

If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up.
You should have a look in:
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/Extensions
You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

This error: I have just bought an iPad mini and to transfer my contacts, music etc via iTunes on my PC, the PC crashes should not occur.
The best guess is this crash is caused due to an issue with the PC.
Make sure your iPad is updated to the latest operating system: iOS 7.0.4 and make sure iTunes is updated to iTunes 11.
iTunes 11 is optimised for iOS 7, so if you have an iOS 7 device and non iTunes 11 computer, life would be hard.
Try to update iTunes to 11.1.3 from: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Even try uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing. iTunes will not lose any of your iTunes songs when your un-install it as iTunes stores every media item in a folder found in (or around): C:\Users\NAME\Music\iTunes
Obviously iTunes and iDevices work best using Mac iTunes however; iTunes 11 and iOS 7 iPad Mini should work fine.
In summary possible solutions:
1.       Update iPad Mini to iOS 7 or better (iOS 7.0.4)
2.       Update iTunes to iTunes 11.1.3
3.       Restart both PC and iPad
4.       Uninstall iTunes from PC

first time you connect it to the computer you sync the iphone with it should ask if you want to setup the ipad as a new device or restore it with a backup of another ios device
if you say yes the content of tne iphone will be put on the ipad
if you later one wish to do the same thing one can restore it by navigating to the ipad in itunes on the computer and choose to restore it there to the backup of the iphone
if you don't want to restore then you can just mark the apps in itunes you wish to sync to the ipad
if you don't sync with a computer then you can't be charged for an app more then once it's tied to your appleID and any attempt to buy it again will result in a free download
one can also access apps tied to the ios device under purchasees in the app store app

You you bought it from Apple, you have 14 days to do so.
If it's from a reseller, you got to talk to them.
It's good to restall to Factory Settings to remove all your personal data.
Settings >General>Reset>Erase all contents and settings

I just got my ipad mini with retina display yesterday. The regular internet works fine as far as I can tell. Hey guys, So i bought an iPad mini with retina display last week. Have an ipad 3 at home that we've been using before that. For some reason, using Airplay from the Mini doesnt seem to work properly. I use the same apps (Dailymotion, Youtube and a few links online) on the iPad 3 and they work fine. But whenever i use in my mini, the video stops after a few mins. it stops playing on the tv, and continues on the ipad. Is anyone else having the same problem? BTW all my devices have up to date software so that is not an issue i think . .Be good to get some help/ feedback /suggestions about this . Thanks
