Hi I have just bought my imac OS x 10.8.5 Mountain Lion. I am pretty green with the tech side of things. I want to get iphoto for the mac but cant download the latest version as it is for OS X 10.9. Can I get an older version of Iphoto or should I upgrade my software to maverick?
Help?
Who did you buy the system from? Is it new or used?
You could upgrade to 10.9 (Mavericks) that is free. What happens with iPhoto will depend on how you obtained the computer.

Problems setting up my TC. Have just bought new iMac(OS 10.6.8) and TC. I tried to set it up. iMac cannot find it. I have tried direct connection with an ethernet cable to Mac or direct to my wireless router but nothing. Just a flashing orange light. Help for a simpleton please. Just updated from 10.6.7 ---> 10.6.8 and had the same issue. Despite having done a clean install from 10.6 and got everything back off my TC, now Time Machine can't find it!
Green light is on, ethernet cable conected, network CP says its conected but nothing. Airport Utility can't find it. Hit reset button, Orange flashing light but still no show in Airport Utility.
But I know its there, as rebooting from 10.6 SL disk shows the backups are still ok?
Hmm, ideas anyone?

I have just bought an iMac, and when I had my PC I had all my mp3 music on external hard drive and used to stream using software called ps3 server and tveristy which used to pick up on my Roberts radio via network wi fii and on my iPad via AirPlay. How can I do the same with iMac as this software isn't compatible
To install apps from developers Apple doesn't recognize go to Security and Privacy in the System Preferences and change Allow apps downloaded from anywhere

I just bought an iMac now running OSX 10.8.4. I have a G5 running OXS 10.5.8 - External HD connected to the G5 been using Time Machine to back up. Need to get my files, photos etc. but not applications etc. onto the iMac. How do I do it?

Not those whole folders, but their contents, maybe.
If the user account now on the Mac has read rights to the user account(s) on the backups, yes. If not, you may have to do some finagling.
Try the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17. If you find an account that can open those folders, restore what you want to an alternate location (#16 in the FAQ).
If not try creating one or more accounts temporarily. -
I have bought a photoshop elements and have installed it on my MacBookPro. I have just bought an iMac and what to install on this computer as well. The iMac does not have a disc drive. I have copied the file onto a remote hard drive and tried to install but it thinks I have a pirate copy. What can I do?

i have just bought and iMac and it was a display model but I'm trying to install iWork apps and its asking me to buy them. Any suggestions please
If it didn't start up with the Startup Assistant, did you erase the drive and reinstall the OS prior to starting this?
That is the best way to start given that it was a display model.
The free apps are tied to the Mac. If the store downloaded the apps from the App Store, you won't be able to do the same. You might want to contact App Store support: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/ -
I have just bought an imac, my problem is i cant airplay the iphoto. when ever i turn the icon to apple tv it keeps coming up The airplay device is not compatible with this software. I can airplay music but not photos. The new imacs software are all update.

Can anyone help? I have bought an iMac but when I try to sync it with my iPad it says I need to update the iPad to version 10.6.3 or later yet when I try to update the iPad it says it has the latest update which is 6.1.3 how can I fix this so I can sync the two?
Its not telling you to update your iPad, its telling you you need to download a recent version itunes on your computer.

Hi can anyone help? I have had an iphone for years now and use my calendar to run my life! I have just invested in an iMac but when it has sync'd my calendar from my phone all my events are appearing one day earlier. I have checked the time zone and set it to Apple Europe. Can anyone help e get this sorted? Much appreciate any help.

It sounds like your events synced to your computer from the phone and they are all an hour out of sync. I recommend verifying that time zone support is turned on with your iCloud calendar if you are using iCloud:
Use a time zone other than the default
In iCloud Calendar, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu below the sidebar.
Click Advanced, select “Enable time zone support,” then click Save.
With time zone support on, a “time zone” pop-up menu appears when you create an event, letting you set any time zone you want.
You can also reset the default time zone for your calendars (and their events) at any time.

If not, I would verify that your iPhone date and time are set correctly with the correct time zone support information:

Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Scroll down to Calendars.
Tap Time Zone Support.
Slide the slider for Time Zone Support to ON.

And I would next verify that this information is correct on your computer as well:
Choose Calendar > Preferences, click Advanced, then select “Turn on time zone support.”

All the cd's I have bought over the years, have all been uploaded into iTunes on my Windows PC. I have tried just copying my iTunes folder across to my new iMac, but it doesn't recognise all of the music (but it does recognise some?). Can someone please tell me the best way to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to my iMac?

From your description of the problem, it sounds like you have a hardware/camera defect. My recommendation is to return your imac to where-ever you bought it, and have them deal with, or replace your computer with one that functions as it is supposed to. You should not have to suffer with this situation on a new computer, although it does sometimes happen.

I am aware that I could not use both devices at the same time and from what I've read on here, once you've bought creative suite you may install it onto two devices. I'm just wondering how I go about installing onto my iMac, also with consideration that it is a older version of Creative Suite.

I have just bought an iMac and want to move my iTunes library over from a PC.
Unfortunately all my CDs have been ripped as WAV files for maximum quality, so all the metadata is in the iTunes library file. I can get the wav files copied over easily enough, but the Mac won't read the iTunes library xml file for some reason. Any suggestions before I start ripping everything again?
Copy the entire /My Music/iTunes/ folder from your PC to /Music/ on your Mac.
