I have just migrated from 10.5 to 10.8.3 - Do I need to install Pages 09?

Question

Last night I used Migration Assistant to tranfer everything from my crammed Mac Book 10.5 to my new MBP 10.8.3
Today I wanted to check my many PhD documents in Pages all still worked. They open but they are invisible. You can highlight everything which shows the text (white in lilac!?) but can't reformat or do anything. I can't type or edit at all.
Is this because I have transferred Pages 08? If I install Pages 09 will they be miraculously open-able?
I am panicking because this is essentially three years of work currently trapped on my old MB! Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks so much, but when I try and run the update installer I get the message
'An eligible Pages application was not found in the location /Applications'
That's a sign that the iWork applications are no longer in the iWork '08 folder in the Applications folder. The same applies to iWork '06 & iWork '09 installed from the retail DVD or downloaded trial. Iif you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork ''08 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08. If it doesn't have the '08 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
