I have just ordered a new macbook
using the apple finance option which i guess means that it will be ordered early nest week and shipped in 10 days or so. Im guessing that after the upgrade of the mbpros the same will happen to the macbooks. How long will I have to change it if they upgrade the processor or will they do it automatically?
Many Thanks
Rob
Ps I currently have a macbook pro from when they first were released at the beginning of the year and have nothing but probs with it so want to go back to something similar but better than my old ibook!!
Lots of people will be so dissapointed when MB introduces the Core 2 Duo. That's so funny - people don't realize that the differences are absolutelly minimal. Doing basic stuff won't make any difference. If you're doing something that's very CPU intensive - you may shave off second or two using Core 2 Duo. It all looks good on paper, but has anyone actually seen the difference in real life?
I've read some articles in PC magazine - they said that Core2Duo isn't really faster than CoreDuo - especially when it comes to mobile CPU's.
I could have waited to purchase my MB until Core2Duo comes out - but I knew better! There aren't MB useres that could actually notice the difference. Just read the articles on the web CoreDuo vs Core2Duo - you'll laugh

Me and my partner have just brought a new MacBook. We both have individual iTunes and iCloud accounts, is there any way we can access both accounts on one computer?
Set up 2 accounts one for each of you.

From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome
1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it. -
I have just purchased the new macbook pro 15" and see that it comes with 2 discs in the box, one being Mac OS X and the other being Applications Install DVD. Are these pre installed? or do I need to insert the discs and install them?
All has been installed. Those are there in case you need to do a reinstall. Unlike most Windows based hardware vendors these days. Apple still ships software you might need in case a drive fails. Even in the case of the new MacBook Air, Apple ships the software on a flash drive.

Wonder if anyone can help? Have just bought a new Macbook pro and installed FCP7. I thought that I would get quicktime pro as standard but stuck with QTX. Downloaded QT7 but it won't let me install it. Says I can't do install as I already have QTX. Does FCP not come with QTpro or am I jsut being stupid. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. B

Are you running Lion or Snow Leopard? either way this may help by the looks of it.

I have just bought a new macbook and trying to add all my music to my new itunes from a previous version of itunes (iTunes 9) in my seven year old Mac. I can import all the MP3 songs but iTunes ignores all the m4a format files. What to do? I have copied them into the music file along with the mp3 files but they still dont open in iTunes.

Hi, I have just purchased a new Macbook Pro. Whenever I try and buy anything on the internet (via Safari) on any website it will not allow me to add products to checkout. Has anyone else experienced this problem or can suggest a fix? Many thanks!
On all shopping sites, or only some? What happens when you try?

I have an Iphone with one Apple ID and have just bought a new mac book pro. How can I syn calendar from mac book with Iphone if the two devices have different apple IDs?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

I have just got a new mac book pro. When I synced my iphone 4s with it my audible book files were deleted from my phone though they are on the computer still. A pop up said my iphone was not authorised to play on this computer. Everything else is there just not my audio books from Audible. I'm half way through a book, what do I do?
The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -
I have just bought the new macbook air no iWork?
I just bought the new macbook air (this week technically) it arrived today and nd pages, numbers, keynote are not preinstalled
first of all the software was mountain lion so I updated to mavericks (had it on usb from imac download)
and When i do to the app store there is no free iwork/pages/keynotes
it has the new ibooks
so nit sure why i am not eligible
I kind feel a bit cheated it is frustratingWelcome to Apple Support Communities
That's normal. You can get the iWork apps for free, but it doesn't mean that your MacBook comes with them preinstalled.
Open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and install the applications for free. If you can't, you can still get them for free. See > http://www.apple.com/creativity-apps/mac/up-to-date/ -
Just ordered a new macbook pro
I am excited about receiving my new Macbook Pro next week. I have never owned one but has been working with one at my church, which is the main reason why I got it. We are going to be running Final Cut Studio 2. One of my friends told me that I may need to invest in an external hard drive because the projects we will be doing (broadcasts for tv) may eat up alot of hard drive space. Which leads to my first question - where can I get an external hard drive and how much do they run? Is this something I need to consider?
Also, because I will be transferring video clips from the church to home. will a regular flash drive work? Or are there special ones just for Mac (you can tell I was primarily a PC user)
Any help would be apprectiated.Yes, you'll most likely need an external drive. The standard Mac OS X and bundled software installation isn't small and full installation of Final Cut Studio is quite enormous itself. Just that will chomp through nearly half a 120GB drive.
You can get external drive from pratically any computer component seller, even probably Walmart, but not all drives are equal. I find those from G-Technology a good buy…
http://www.g-technology.com/
… and will match your new MBP. Just be sure to buy one with a FireWire 800 connection as it'll perform better than FireWire 400 and way better than USB2.
As for moving video data, you're best to do it on an external drive. USB flash drives won't be large enough for the data quantities yuo'll have. An iPod Calssic might be an interesting solution if you have one. -
Just open up the box to my new MacBook Pro. Have gone through Assistant Setup. The Mac is asking for a password. Assistant Setup did not ask for a password to be setup. I cannot get into the computer as its requires a password that I did not set up? Why it is doing this I have no idea. I tried my Apple ID password, no luck. Any other options?
At the risk of asking the obvious, Have you tried not entering anything and then hitting "Return"?
Hope this helps -
with my purchase of the new macbook pro i have been unable to upload any music from my iphone or any other details except from my pictures. I tried to set up the icloud but i am having difficulties doing so as all my music on my phone is under an old shared account and on my laptop i have a new account specifically for me which has also been newly uploaded onto my phone with the £70 voucher.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs. -
I'm connected to a stable wifi connection but it hasn't sent any messages all day. However, yesterday it was working fine.
Hi,
Could we try a few more words ?
Are we talking about just the iMessages account ?
Do you have AIM or Jabber Accounts set up as well ?
Are they getting "Messages" ?
In Messages Menu > Preferences > Accounts > iMessage account is the "Enable this Account" box ticked and logged in ?
Do you mean you can Receive iMessages but not Send them ?
