can I watch movies rented on my laptop through itunes on my apple tv? they are not showing up. I can watch it on the laptop so I know it has loaded properly.
Yes you can view it on Apple TV. If has fully loaded, as you say, then it should show up under the Computers icon (assuming home sharing is enabled on both devices, they are on the same network, and computer is on/running iTunes)

Please let me know if there is an app or option on the IPAD to have it view a website only and not be able to access the other areas of the IPAD but also be able to change it back or off when needed?
Thank youGo into Accessability under General in Settings. There's a option called "Guided Access". Turn it on, set a password. Enable the Accessiliblity Shortcut - tripple click of the home button. Then you got options to limit the page to only certain areas that will respond to touch, disable home button etc. That way you lock it down.

I have done the software updates on my laptop but still can't get the app store

I am trying to download the app store for my laptop, however, I have done all the system updates (numerous times over the past few months) and the app store has never appeared. I can't seem to find a link to download it from the website and am not sure how I am able to get it on my computer without reinstalling my whole operating system or something (which I really don't want to do if I can avoid it).
Any information on this issue would be greatly apprieciated,

I have just rented two movies and after download they are not visible anywhere for me to view. Usually in the iTunes menu there is an option call 'rentals' where rented movies sit until they expire, this is no longer visible. The movie files are listed in the finder under music/movies.... With the rest of my iTunes data, but they will not play in iTunes from there and I can't add them to my library for watching.
The only thing I am currently doing differently is that I have just subscribed to iTunes Match; would this affect my rentals?Hi Cmcb,
Under your Library list, you should see "Movies". Click on that, and you will see a screen with several tabs at the top - Rentals, Unwatched, Movies, Genres, Home Videos, etc.
As Hackintosh indicated above, click on the Rentals tab, and your movies will be displayed there. Doulbe click on one to start playing it.
If you do not have your sidebar showing, go up to View at the top, and click on Show Sidebar. Then you will see your Library lists on the sidebar, which will include Movies.

You've rented a film from Amazon, not the iTunes store ?
If it is from iTunes then it should be in the Movies part of your library - if you have iTunes 11 installed then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S, and on that sidebar there should be a Movies section (if Movies doesn't show then go into iTunes > Preferences, command-comma, and make sure that Movies is ticked on the General tab).
If you've rented it from Amazon then you may want to try the Amazon help pages (I'm in the UK so we don't have it) e.g. Amazon instant video help or watching online. -

Welcome to the Apple Community.
HDCP is copy protection built into iTunes video content, the Apple TV requires all devices to be HDCP compatible before it will send HDCP content to them. In simplistic terms the Apple TV asks the TV if the signal it will send can be recorded, if it gets the right answer it will send the signal, if it doesn't receive a reply it won't.
Your problem may be one of unsupported equipment or may simply be an error. You could start by checking if your TV is HDCP compliant. If it is the problem might be cabling or another device (such as a receiver) between the Apple TV and TV, it may also just be a glitch which might be resolved by a simple restart. -
I have just bought a movie and it says its going to take 170 mites to load. Can i make the loading time shorter?
Either by decreasing playback quality from HD to SD or HD 1080p to 720p.
Sounds as though your internet (like mine( is not fast enough for instant playback.
AppleTV need to buffer the video if internet speeds are below:
8 Mbps for 1080p
6 Mbps for 720p
2.5 Mbps for SD -
I have just rented a film and clicked the menu button instead of pause. When I go back to the film to rent again it says I have already rented this go to settings and check for downloads. But there is no download option in settings?
It does... Apple TV has a problem with the assignment to the itunes account after updating. Restore to factory settings or unlog and news login to the itunes store helps to see the rented/downloaded film(s).

AppleTV rentals are fixed size.
For a given SD/HD quality you therefore need a minimum internet speed to play near instantly:
SD 2.5 Mbps
720p HD 6 Mbps
1080p HD 8 Mbps
...any slower and the device has to buffer the video in order to play back the media without stopping/starting.
Chances are you have rented HD and your internet is too slow to play near instantly.
