I HAVE JUST UPGRADED TO FIREFOX 4 AND I HAVE LOST ALL MY BOOKMARKS,I HAVE LOOKED AT FAQS BUT I DONT THINK ITS MY JOB TO GO TRAWLING THROUGH LOADS OF FILES WHEN THE PROBLEM IS NOT OF MY MAKING!

THIS IS JUST WHAT I AM ON ABOUT!THIS PROBLEM IS NOT OF MY MAKING ,IT HAS OCCURRED WHEN I DOWNLOADED FIREFOX 4NOW I AM SUPPOSED TO REGISTER,FILL IN ALL KINDS OF DETAILS,ETC.IT IS NOT MY PROBLEM IT IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH FIREFOX!

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.

Just upgraded to Firefox 4 and important Norton toolbar is missing - how do I get it back?

I've only just upgraded to Firefox 4 today (30.4.11) and when it had installed and restarted, my Norton toolbar was missing. A message from Firefox did come up - something to do with some items not compatible with version 4 but I can't remember all that it said. I haven't had this problem with any of the other versions of Firefox. This is an important toolbar as it concerns identity protection, safe web searching.

I just recently upgraded to firefox 4 and it won't work. I was enjoying the lastest update on firefox 3 and it was working fine, but when i upgraded to 4, the problems started. Every time i click on the icon, the mouse turns into the loading wheel for a few seconds and then goes back, but firefox doesn't load up. Nothing happens. I have tried restarting the computer, but that does nothing. I then tried uninstalling it, but it says firefox is still running so it can't uninstall. Even after restarting my computer, it still says it's running. I have tried everything, but it just won't start, and I can't do anything because it claims to still be running.

I just had a similar problem and it reminded me of trying to install a logitech wireless mouse a while back. Nothing I could do to make it recognize the driver... until I ran across a website that told me that antivirus and firewalls might prevent it. So... AVG Free just updated itself earlier today... FF4 would only startup once after reboot, then start and show in task mgr but no window(s)... Uninstalled AVG new version. FF4 starts up every time. Reinstalled older version of AVG Free and now everything seems to be OK again. Hope this helps!

I just upgraded my Firefox program to a new version and immediately I started seeing a group of black lines running 10-15 deep running across my computer screen while on the Web. As I scroll down they sometimes disappear. Then they reappear. It doesn't happen all the time. But often enough.

Contact Apple. That sounds like a hardware issue in the graphics circuit.

Thats because the old installed version of googletoolbar has a file named install.rdf that declares the max supported version of firefox to be 4.0.
To fix this ,just open the install.rdf file with notepad and change maxVersion from 4.0.* to 6.* (see the image i've also uploaded)
Now, in order to find the correct install.rdf file do the following:
Go to folder : C:\Users\[your user name here]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[sometext].default and search for the install.rdf file (im using windows 7)
Windows search will find many install.rdf files (one for each addon you have installed on firefox) so make sure that you find the install.rdf that has the line
Google Toolbar for Firefox
in it. For this install.rdf file just rename the max version as stated above , restart firefox..and vuala! Google toolbar is back!

I just upgraded to Firefox 10 and all my pinned app tabs disappeared. Not sure how to get them back. This did not happened with any previous upgrades.

I just upgraded to ff 6.0.1 via an automatic push. Since then, ff hasnt been able to connect to the internet. Error message:

IE has no trouble connecting to the internet.

After upgrading, your firewall may not be recognizing the new Firefox version and is not allowing it access to the internet. On your firewall progam's allowed applications list, remove Firefox, then re-start Firefox, try going to a website, your firewall will detect the new version of Firefox, then give the permissions needed for Firefox to have internet access.

I just upgraded to FIrefox 8 and after that pops are no longer popping up. I need this to work. I tried to disable popup blocker and still nothing works.

I just upgraded to the new firefox 8 and after installing my popups are no longer working. It use to work with version 6. I cant do my work because of this. Now i will need to downgrade again to version 6.

I had the same problem - I think it depends on your OS - pity that Mozilla didnt mention this on the front page before people download it! The best solution is to reinstall 3.6 from this page - there are options for PC, Mac and Linux

Well you're going to have to read it in some form or another to see if 'something changed in the file'..
What about storing the old file's size in bytes and using the 'Get File size' function to return the current size of the file in bytes. If there's a difference between your stored value and the current value, then the size of the file has changed.
Of course this will only work if the file's size changes and will not work if your overwriting an existing file with similar data which may contain the same number of bytes.
Maybe you could provide some more details for futher solutions
