I have lag between the keys on my Yamaha PSRE423 and the sound emergig from my Macbookpro running the teaching programmes on Garageband. This makes it impossible to get the beat right so I cannot score in my very first lessons!How do I achieve sync?
My Christmas present for my retirement is a lovely keyboard that I now have to learn to play! I thought that the Apple teaching programmes in Garage Band would be an ideal start.
I downloaded the driver software for OSX from Yamaha and then connected the keyboard via USB. Havind downloaded the teaching programmes I started in on Lesson 1. BUT when I press a key it is at least a beat behind by the time it emerges from the computer speakers and is also late in displaying against the teaching score!
So how do I get it all in sync??

I have been trying to contact the support team however my support has expired, I connected my iphone 4s to my computer and it started to sync nothing new, however, when I looked at my phone it actually restored my phone to a previous back up and i have none of my photos/videos I have taken between the last backup and now.
How can i get these files back off my phone I have tried a number of restore software sites but they only see what was restored to my phone via the back-up from Itunes not the pictures that where taken over the last two weeks.
Please can anyone help...It doesn't do that by itself. You have to manually initiate a restore.
If you weren't backing up to iCloud and you didn't have Photo Stream on so the photos could upload to the cloud, they're gone. You can't recover them. -
I have just agreed to software updates on my imac and now can't open my mail. There is a message saying this version of mail isn't compatible with this latest software. I have located the updated mail in the applications folder but it won't open. I don't have the original operating software disk. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Your reply suggests that you have moved Mail to a different location, which (as I said) will prevent it from being properly updated. You cannot use Mail 4.5 with any recent version of Mac OS X. Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) included Mail 5 and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) includes Mail 6. I'm assuming that you have either Lion or Mountain Lion, but if that is incorrect, you will need to provide that information.
At this point, you will need to reinstall your system. Hold down command-R at startup and reinstall the system right on top of the old one. This should not disturb any of your documents or applications, though you should have backups beforehand in case something goes wrong. And at this point, with your system in an uncertain state (I don't entirely know what you have done to it), something could go wrong.
You will also want to delete the old copy of Mail 4.5, wherever that is. You can't use it.
In the future, do not move any of the preinstalled applications. Leave them where they are. -
When I try to record narration in keynote on my imac I cannot escape out of this screen. I have to force quit out of keynote. This makes it impossible for me to use.

When you erased the disk did you select Mac OS Extended Journaled as the format option?

All of my photos now have the same photo when I look at them in the viewing area. It makes it look as though all of my photos are the exact same! I have to actually open the photo itself to see the actual photo. this makes it impossible to work with the photos in iphoto. How can I return it so that I see the photo itself in the preview area? Thank you!
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. This can take three or four goes.

Upgrading to V4 has lost all of my Bookmarks, I still have the restore files in my profile data but they will not load, I have tried importing the html backup file too but it didn't work either. How can I get them back?

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :( -

In iPhoto preferences >Advanced, I originally 'ticked' the "Importing: Copy items to the iPhoto Library" box. I have now installed a Drobo double back-up system and would like to delete these 'items' on my hard drive. Is this possible?
Not with iPhoto.
You can relocate the masters using Aperture if you're using the latest versions of both iPhoto and Aperture. However, if you're planning on using iPhoto going forward having the masters on one disk and the Library on another is not a good idea. Have a read of this

After install of Mountain Lion I have no facetime. It is nowhere in hd and ap store will not allow download.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
After this is completed download and install 10.8.4 Mountain Lion Update v10.8.4 (Combo).
If this doesn't work, then reinstall Mountain Lion:

When I edit and/or delete photos from an album in iPhoto is there a way to make that what happens in the folder in finder? I am new to Mac. I've updated the operating system and iPhoto.
If your iPhoto Advanced preference pane is setup like this
all photos you import into the library are COPIED into the library. Thus those photos in the folders outside of iPhoto are redundant and can be deleted to save space on your hard drive. There no need to keep those copies in the folders.
If you do have your advance preferences set as shown above you can access your photos for use outside of iPhoto according to the following User Tip by Terence Devlin which is the best treatise on how to access photos (for use outside of iPhoto): How to Access Files in iPhoto. Otherwise you access your photos from within iPhoto. -

All content from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it, so the id that shows when trying to download updates should be the account that 'owns' that app. Do you recognise the id that is showing e.g. has anybody else downloaded or synced content to your iPad ?
