I have latest version of iTunes and can't 'mute' when iTunes is minimized
Can anyone tell me why the latest update made this change to my computer? I can hit the mute button on my keyboard when the iTunes window is up and in use, and it will mute. But if iTunes is minimized, and I hit the the mute button on my keyboard, it won't allow me to mute.

It's broken my Media Center remote control mute button as well my Apple keyboard mute button (if iTunes is running and is not at the front).

Trying to be sure I have latest versions of Lightroom and Photoshop (I am on monthly subscription plan). After I sign in - told I need "administrative privileges to continue." The initial downloads went without any problem. I am not sure what to do next. My computer is at home. It is a new iMac.

I have windows 2000 professional operating system version 5.0.2195 service pack 4 build 2195. I usually logged on as "user1". When i clicked on firefox it will try to install update but will return a message that update cannot be installed "please make sure that there are no other copies of firefox running on your computer". But there are no other copies of firefox running.
I checked the add/remove program in the control panel and found out that I have ver3.6.10 and ver6.0.2 installed.
Can i remove the ver3.6.10 using the uninstall button in the add/remove program?
Another problem is that I cannot logged in as "administrator".
When i logged in as "administrator" the computer just shut down and restart by itself while loading my desktop icons.The normal method is simply

You should be able to delete Firefox and remove it, from your Windows XP control panel although that may not be what you intend.
If you have doubts about compatibility stay with Firefox3.6 for now.
Some software extensions will currently have problems with firefox 4 (and that iircc may include some versions of silverlight )
Do NOT use any delete settings (or whatever it is worded) that will loose all your passwords and bookmarks.
BTW the safe mode in relation to Firefox is a totally different concept from Windows safe mode, but you probably have no need to use either of them.

On an ordinary upgrade Firefox will preserve your profile details which include bookmarks any passwords.
You should have no problems in installing Firefox 4. You should be able to install firefox 4, and retain any bookmarks etc that were used in firefox 3.6, but sometimes extensions may be incompatible. -
I can open iphoto but nothing loads, no photos or lists on sidebar, just a silver spin-wheel appears in the middle of the screen. I can open and close w/no problem and I have all drop down menus and editing tools available but when pressed nothing happens.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

same problem as all you others. Downloaded iTunes 10.5 twice and still not able to acess the iTunes store. Done everything suggested on the website and by the e mail from Apple (which just refs to the website!) Nothing wrong with the rest of my web acess. What is going on!
However, I can no longer access the iTunes store as the PC just sits there in limbo.

I updated java to 7 up 45 (in error, this version of java does not work with vpn and according to apple, I can't go back to earlier version). The applet plugin does not show in my add ons. I am not running 32 bit. I have read and tried every article I can find. I have uninstalled and reinstalled still no luck. I have an iMac, just updated to maverick.

Have latest version of Pages and am told I need a newer one!
All of a sudden I cannot open any Pages documents in the normal way. I get a message saying: "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document" - but I am running the latest Pages '09 version 4.0.4! I have re-booted, and also trashed the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist, to no avail.
What happens is this: I have re-booted and Pages is not open. I double click on a Pages document to open both Pages and the document but nothing happens, except that, weirdly, I get the Inspector on the desktop, although Pages is not open. I then open Pages manually. I double click on the icon of the document I want to open and get the message saying "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document". I go to File/Open and am able to open the document OK but when I close it and then try to re-open it again using the usual double-click method, I get the "need newer version" message again. Most frustrating. The only thing that has changed on my Mac recently is that I installed iLife '11 a couple of days ago, which surely shouldn't make any difference at all.It seems that I was not sufficiently clear.
For some reason, the references to Pages'09 and Pages'08 where swapped in the database used by the operating system to choose the app asked to open a double-clicked document.
So, when you double click with no Pages application open, the system trigger Pages'08.
I repeat that if you open Pages '09 once and don't open Pages '08, it's Pages '09 which will be used to open double clicked documents.
Moving iWork '08 components into a disk image is really easy.
From Disk Utility, create a new disk image named iWork '08 whose size is set to 800 Mbytes.
Open this disk image, drag and drop Keynote '08, Numbers '08, Pages '08 in this disk image
Double click each moved application to check that it behave correctly.
If all is OK, trash the original files
or pack them as zip archive before trashing them
or burn a CD with these three apps before trashing them.

TS1702 Words with Friends. Crashes iPhone5. I have latest version IOS 6 and Words with Friends.
Crashes when I press Play. IOS 6.2 restarts the iphone.
I had this same problem twice in a row this morning but on iOS 6.0.1. The phone's screen faded out a bit and random lines disappeared before the apple logo appeared.
Unfortunately when I tried a third time (and subsequent attempts) while recording the device it didn't crash.
I noticed that WwF updated just yesterday... it says version 5.70.
I agree with Chris that you should report this to Zynga, but any crash that is able to cause the device to kernel panic is more than just an issue with the app's code and Apple should at least be made aware of the issue.
It looks like the only place to notify them is on the Zynga player forums. -

Thank you the information. Unfortunately I am not very computer literate. I am using a Mac computer. Running Mac OS 10.8.5. My Photoshop CC version is: 14.2.1. My bigger question to you is - I do not understand how the app (Adobe Creative Cloud) works. When I open "Launchpad" on my Mac I see icons for a bunch of Apps. One of them is "Creative Cloud." When I double click this icon nothing happens (at least that I am aware of). On the other hand, when I double click on the "Adobe Photoshop CC" icon - Photoshop opens. I would appreciate your advice about finding the app you mention and then how to open it. May I presume that once the Creative Cloud is open I can click to have latest Photoshop and Lightroom versions installed? Many thanks. Ron

I have an old IPID touch and just bought a anew Nano. If I downoload the latest version of Itunes for my Nano, will I lose all of my osns stored in my old version of Itunes and can I still use my Touch (with my current songs on it) with the new version of Itunes? In the past when I downloaded a new version, I lost my songs on my Touch. Thank you for any help any one might offer.

I cannot install the latest version of itunes as I have old versions of bonjour and quicktime. I can't remove these programs either. Help please as I have tried almost everything I have found so far on the the web.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour and QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

You need to purchase a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB RAM. Run Software Update twice afterwards.
If you're already running Mac OS X 10.6, run Software Update until it gives you the option of installing iTunes 11.
