I have lightroom 5 installed before I purchased CC, question about upgrading?

I have lightroom 5.4 installed on my Mac before I purchased the creative cloud. I noticed there is an update to 5.5. Will installing the CC version simply overwrite my current install, or do I need to uninstall 5.4 first because it was not installed through creative cloud?

you could uninstall your purchase lr 5.4 (but save your installation files and serial number), and then let the cc app install (and keep up-to-date) the latest lr version.
saving your purchased lr allows you to reinstall should you ever terminate your cc subscription.  you can update your purchased lr here, http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

As long as you have the serial number you should not have an issue installing and activating Lightroom when you finish the system reinstall.

  • I have Lightroom 5 installed on my iMac.  Can I install the one I already have on my laptop?

I have Lightroom 5 installed on my iMac. How can I install it on my Macbook pro? Will I need to purchase Lightroom again on my laptop? Since I already purchased Lightroom once.

A Lightroom license entitles you to two installations for your personal use. You install Lightroom on that second computer the same way you installed it on the first.

  • I currently have Lightroom 4 installed. Do I qualify for the discounted Creative Cloud subscription?

I currently have Lightroom 4 installed. Do I qualify for the discounted Creative Cloud subscription?

I have been given conflicting information from Adobe on this question.  The forums and FAQS all said that  you can install concerrently then uninstall when all is OK with the CC install.  I decided to install the CC versions then uninstall the previously installed versions on my hard drive.  The CC versions did NOT install if you have a current version installed.  I called Support and was told to uninstall LR then install LR CC again.  Guess what, no matter what I do, CC manager still thinks LR CC is installed even though there are NO files on my HD and I can not install it from CC again.  There is no FAQ or workaround posted on this website to resolve this.  Now I have NO LR.
I learned a lesson...do not believe what you read on support websites or what you are told on the support phone line.  So...You can NOT install them back to back.  If you have LR previously installed before installing CC, then you download and install LR CC, it will NOT install the CC version if it finds a current version on your PC.  So either keep what you have OR backup your current stuff and uninstall the current apps.  Make sure that you are signed out of CC on the website AND on your CC desktop app.  Reboot then sign in to your desktop CC app again, then download all your apps only after the CC manager does not have them listed at the top as currently installed apps, only on the apps to install list.

  • I have Lightroom 5 installed on my MacBook Air but when I try to open the program I receive the message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  I uninstalled, emptied trash and re-installed but I continue to get the same message.

I have Lightroom 5 installed on my iMac which I downloaded (uploaded?) to my MacBook Air (via wi-fi) but unlike the iMac, I'm unable to use the program on the MacBook Air.  When I open the program on the iMac and click 'file', (as people using the program would know) there are 21 options - import pics, export, etc, etc - however, in the version on the MacBook Air, opening 'file' gives me four options - New Catalogue, Open Catalogue, Page Setup and Printer - and with that comes the pop-up message "An error occurred when attempting to change modules".  Any ideas please?

A forum thread from 3 years ago talking about LR 1.x which had this problem seems to need permissions fixed or new folders created with the corrected permissions.  You might try doing a repair permissions for your user and/or run LR as an administrator user.  I am a PC person so cannot tell you exactly how to do that.

The Canon 5D Mk 111 was supported from LR 4.1, see the link below. Just update LR to the latest version. See link below

I select the images I want uploaded, NEF files, click the "IMPORT" button, process bar comes up and shows work in progress, but no progress. after about 2 minutes, dialogue box appears with message: "unable to import because the following files are unreadable: NEFxxxx, etc."

  • I have PS CS6 installed, and I purchased PS CC, but do not know how to access

    Hello,
I recently purchased PS CC, I have set up a CC account, I also have an adobe acct.  I have PS CS6 installed on my computer, purchased PS CC, went to the available downloads, but I am confused as to how to download the CC Photoshop with the new features as it tells me I already have CS 6 installed, and I do not see any refrence to a CC Photoshop downoad, I would appreciate any direction as to how to download the PS CC that I have subscribed to.
    Thank You
    Dom

    Hi Dom,
As a Creative Cloud member, you're entitled to the Creative Cloud suite.  (If you're Photoshop CC only, then you'll be eligible for Photoshop CC.)
Question or two for Nancy (or those in the know.):
    a) You said: "But before you download & install the new CC, be sure the read the release notes, tech specs, etc...)"
These aren't posted yet, or are they?  If so, whereabouts?
    b) Do you know if the CC apps replace CS6 applications, or add them separately - like CS 5.5, CS 6 - in their own folders.  Knowing these downloadble products, and I don't just mean Adobe, but Microsoft, Apple, etc. sometimes botch their downloads at first, I'd hate to be "Adobe-less."
    Thanks!
    Jon

  • Anyone have any idea where I can purchase FCP 7 Studio upgrade?

Anyone have any idea where I can purchase a new copy of FCP 7 Studio upgrade?

The two places I knew about have sold out. (fwiw - these were new retail, not upgrade). Your best bet may be finding someone on craigslist or ebay who is switching to Avid or Premiere and getting rid of the FCS suite. Buyer beware and all that.
    Good luck,

  • Installing Win7 On iMac 27" - Question About Future Up

Seeing that Apple are dragging their feet on Official support for Windows 7 I've decided to follow the un-supported route of installing it on my iMac. The question I have, if I install Win7 now using the work around methods what happens when Apple do update Boot Camp to officially support Windows 7. Is it a case of just running the updated Boot Camp program to install the necessary / officially supported drivers or do I have to do a full clean re-install of the Windows 7 OS.
Sorry if my questions seems naive but Windows on a Mac via Boot Camp is a whole new ball game for me.

I'm afraid no one can answer this or give you a guarantee.
I'm even afraid these experiments could make it necessary at some point
to do a fresh install of Snow Leopard etc. too.
I'm thinking of using Parallels 5 until Boot Camp will be released, but this
is only a solution for "slow" applications. Furthermore I'm also not sure
if a deinstallation of Parallels and Windows 7 will remove/undo ALL and
not leave traces which could make problems later for a Boot Camp installation.
And maybe this all is just for a few weeks? Or maybe not? So what then?

  • I have purchased a new computer I have Lightroom 3 disc however I purchased an upgrade to lightroom 4 online so i don't have the disc. I have the serial number for lightroom 4 but don't know how to download the programme without the dics

I have just purchased a new computer. Some time age I purchased Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 package which includes the disc. Since them I upgraded to 4 online without the disc .How do I upload without the dosc, I have the serial number for version 4 and have been using it on my old computer.

You will need both License Keys the Lightroom 4 upgrade key and the Lightroom 3 key. You can download the latest LR 4.4.1 from the site below. Just make sure you get the appropriate one for your operating system.
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows
Install then you first enter the LR 4 upgrade serial number and then the LR 3 serial number when prompted.

  • I have Lightroom 5 installed on my Mac. How do I get photoshop?

I have LR 5 on my Mac. How can I get photoshop? it seems to be bundled with LR.

…only if you subscribed to the Adobe Photography Plan, at $10 a month, which indeed includes both Photoshop and Lightroom.
If you bought Lightroom outright, you don't get Photoshop.
