my total library is 680 mb, nowhere close to the 2.08 in the pictures folder. I am obviously messing up.

The iPhoto Window reports the size of the library that would result if you exported all the current versions +and nothing else+ to a folder on the desktop.
The iPhoto Library Folder contains the Original, Modified and thumbnail versions of your pics. It also contains various cache and database files +all of which are necessary+ for the working of the Library.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
You can run a Library on an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

I can only see some of the information of my Facebook friends in my Contacts. For example, a friend has a birthday today. I received an email that she and another friend have birthdays this week. I received a notification on my iPhone and iPad that her birthday was today. It was never displayed in my Notification Center or Calendar beforhand, like it's displayed for other friend's (for other friends, it's displayed in the Notification Center, with the Calendar icon, 1 day before). I looked at every setting I could think of and the Help pages on Facebook. Nothing is working. My friend with the birthday today has her birthday openly listed on her Profile information on her Facebook page. In my contacts, her Facebook email (the one Facebook assigns you when you join) is listed. However her picture and birthday are not listed. I displayed my Facebook Contacts only, and roughly 20 showed up and not the rest. It's like the devices are not recognizing those people and putting their information in the respective places. I have an iPad 3rd Gen, iPhone 5, and MacBook Pro (purchased in January 2013. I hope that helps) and ALL the software updates are current. Can anyone help? Also, my MacBook cannot access my Contacts from Yahoo. Despite my typing in the correct password repeatedly as well as deleting and adding the Yahoo account again. Apple doesn't have any built-in ad blocking components in teh OS or in Safari...so what ad blocking program or Safari extension are you using? It should have the ability for you to change its settings.

ok so this is what i did i finally got it to work...so i taped the black screen with 3 fingers and then it went back to normal and it ****** me off because i had tryed that already so when it goes back to normal even if the voice over is still on it is easy to turn it off if you follow the steps....lol i googled how to turn off voice over so google it

Take it to an Apple store genius bar to have the techs see what your options are for repair/replacement. An out-of-warranty replacement is $149 in the US for the iPhone 4.

My mails are invisible; i can only see the attachment paperclip
Yesterday night when I came home I wanted to check my emails and got a fright. I could only see the paperclip but no mails whatsoever. Also not in the left hand side where all the maps and submaps are. They are also empty, although all the maps are there. I am very frightened that I might have lost all the mails in the maps, that I so diligently amassed.

Whatever works for you. Note, however, that if you have some unauthorized shop perform a repair, you will thereafter be able to get no support from Apple for your iPhone, even if you're willing to pay them. Quotes I'm finding for replacing the screen are around £ 99, which in my mind would not be enough savings to void all support from Apple, but it's up to you.

Can only see some videos that are on camera's SD card
I would like to be able to directly import videos from my camera's SD card into iPhoto, but when I put the card in my Mac, only some of the videos show up. If I look in Finder, I can see all the clips, open them in Quicktime, export them to the computer's drive, and then import them into iPhoto (all one at a time), but obviously that is a pain. I apparently can't use the import function in iPhoto to manually import the files from the SD card, because when I try it tells me the fileare in an unreadable format. (The camera records video in AVCHD format, and stores the data in a folder structure that shows up as a package in Finder. iPhoto doesn't let me open the package to go through the folders from its Import browser window, so I can only try to open the top folder, which iPhoto apparently can't parse.)
Any ideas welcome.

Thanks.Sorry it took so long for me to get back to this. The linked support article addresses the issue directly (thank you both), but the method recommended there (importing the entire AVCHD folder structure) didn't solve the problem. The small number of videos that iPhoto could not see originally also did not get imported, though the ones that it could originally see, did. Luckily since the percentage seems to be small (~10%), it is not prohibitive to open them one by one in Quicktime, re-export them, and then import them into iPhoto. Hopefully this will be fixed in the future. Thank you all for your suggestions.

i purchased a new dell desktop. my home itunes is on my laptop. the home share only works on the pc when i have itunes opened on my laptop. as soon as i close it on my laptop it disappears frpm the pc library
Have both computers running and have iTunes open on both computers.
Now, in the iTunes on the computer you want to transfer music to, select the library that you want to transfer music from, as per the following screenshot:
Once the other library loads, go down to the bottom of the screen and in "Show:" select "Items not in my library":
If you want to import all of the songs you can now see, head up to the iTunes menu bar and go "Edit > Select all". Then head down to the bottom of the screen again and click the "Import" button in the bottom-right-hand corner.
If there's a lot of stuff in your original laptop's library, the transfer may take some time.

Mac Book Air has been struggling for space for a while so I bough at time capsule a) for back up and b) to host my itunes folder remotely. This didnt' work. I took it into the Genius bar and the genius there told me that time capsule is not designed for anything other than back up. Instead I have to connect a G drive through the time capsule's wireless router to my MBA.
I followed his instructions - moved my files from the Time Capsule and MBA directly onto the G Drive - which took a heartening 2 hrs so something must have been happening - and the held down 'Alt' when starting iTunes and selected the new itunes folder as the location of my itunes libarary which I wanted iTunes to 'point at'. When I opened iTunes only 10 albums are visible now.
In ITunes advanced preferences it says it is pointing at the correct folder. The files are all cleary there when I open the G Drive folder to take a look. But I cannot get iTunes to find them.
Any suggestions?
Secondary challenge - in spite of deleting the original itunes folder on my MBA I still get messages pop up telling me my start up disk is out of space and I need to clear some - I expected to stop getting this message now I had done this exercise above. I have emptied Trash. Again - any pointers appreciated. I am new to this world of 'intuitive' macbooks.
CheersAfter admittedly only a quick read the one thing you don't say is how you are trying to make this move. Most people with moving library issues do it the wrong way. Plenty of web sites tell you how to do it the wrong way.
If the iTunes application is started before the drive with the library is fully mounted and awake iTunes will revert back to the internal drive. -

MMS turned on? Settings>Messages>SMS/MMS>MMS Messaging>On. If MMS is turned on, can you send/receive SMS's? If so, contact your carrier. 99.9% of the time, if MMS is turned on & you can send/receive SMS's, the problem rests with your carrier. Either MMS is not provisioned properly on your account, or not provisioned at all.

No, Apple does not take trade ins. Your carrier may have different polices regarding trade ins. Best to contact them about it.
Alternatively you can use Apple's Recycling Program with one of their partners. They will give you an Apple Store Gift card with the value they determine the iPhone has. And you can use the Gift card in the purchase of a new iPhone.

I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button. a 2 week old computer is not supposed to do this! it wastes all its time being so flashy that it just craps out all the time. sometimes i feel like i should have stayed with my virus covered PC. at least when it shut down randomly you could turn it back on, but with the macbook pro, it just keeps restarting itself over and over. need help with this, any answers?

Having tried all the ways possible to get it working, contact your retailer again and politely tell them they did not yet satisfactorily resolve your trouble. Their Apple-Authorized Service Provider will be able to repair it.
