I have Lion OS, I want to install into my kids iMac

How can I install already purchased OS Lion to my family mac computer?

If you have already purchased Lion from the App Store, you simply log in to the App Store on the kids' iMac, using the same Apple ID that you originally purchased Lion with, and download it again.  (Note that you may want to save a copy if the installer after it downloads but before you install it, as it will self-delete after installing.  You'll find the installer in the Applications folder.)
If you instead purchased a new Mac with Lion preinstalled, you will need to purchase a separate copy for any other Macs in your household.

  • Have lion thumbdrive already, want to install lion server

    I purchased the Lion thumbdrive -- installed it on my Mac Pro;
    now I want to upgrade my MacMini Server from 10.8 to Lion;
I put the thumbdrive in the miniserver and I get the following message:
"Waiting for App Store to download Mac OS X Server Add On."
So I go to the App Store and I don't find the Server Add On.
After hunting around on the "Store" I found the Lion Server for $49.99.
Went to purchase it and I get the following message:
"Because this computer is using OS X Server, you must purchase both OS X Lion and OS X Lion Server in order to upgrade. This will cost $79.98."
I don't think I should be required to pay the extra $30...
Anyone found a work around for this?

Upgrading from Snow Leopard will keep everything untouched, just the system will be upgraded. Nevertheless, you MUST bbackup your files, especially when doing an upgrade, even if it theoretically does not destroy anything. You write: ‘I have a ton of files and documents saved on here.’ Eactly from this reason, you MUST backup these files somewhere else than the disk inside your mac. What will you do if this disk dies one good day?

  • My computer currently does not have Lion, if I want to install it will it delete all my files?

I have a MacBook Pro that I got a few years ago. I have a ton of files and documents saved on here. Will upgrading to OS X Lion delete them? Thank you.

I just bought the os 10.7 lion, so I want to install that in my macbook air running os 10.6.8. How can I do that?

Make sure your system is compatible:
To use Lion, make sure your computer has the following:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
Find out if your current Mac has one of these processors by clicking the Apple icon at the top left of your screen, then choosing About This Mac.
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
Get up to date with the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard to purchase OS X Lion. If you have Snow Leopard, click the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install version 10.6.8.
If you are running OS X Snow Leopard you may purchase OS X Lion for $19.99 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. You will receive an email containing a content code to download OS X Lion via the Mac App Store.
If you're running OS X Leopard, you need to upgrade to OS X Snow Leopard prior to upgrading to OS X Lion. OS X Snow Leopard is available via DVD for $19.99 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.

  • I want to install winXP to my iMAC running Lion OS.  I will use BootCamp.  My winXP uses 2 disks with XP on one CD and SP2 on the other.  Bootcamp seems to say use a one disk version.   What can I do about this paradox?

I want to install winXP on my iMac.  It has OS 10.7.2 and uses a 27" display.  I will use Bootcamp and create a separate partion for winXP.  Bootcamp instructions call for a single disk winXP CD with Service Pack 2 on it.  My version has winXP on one disk and Service pack 2 on another.  Will this be a problem?  If it is, is there a solution?

If you just bought an iMac a week ago new, it WILL NOT support XP unless XP is inside a virtual machine.  End of story.  You will need Windows 7 if you plan to run Windows natively on any Mac in 2011.
Used models will run XP, though--from the Intel inception in '06 through the middle part of 2010.
However, consider that Microsoft wants XP gone--and badly so--even as it is extending security hotfix support through April 2014.  This gives you two years and four months before you have to throw down for whatever's current at that time.
Windows 7 will give you a much better experience (dare I say more Mac-like?) than XP, as it seems to be better organized.  The Taskbar, for instance, has become more like the OS X Dock in that you can "pin" things to it in a straightforward manner, unlike XP's seldom-used Quick Launch traybar.
7's also built to take advantage of all the snazzy new hardware you now have.
But don't let me sell it to you.  It's really your call.
    Nate

Hello, I have a Mac and want to install Adobe Encore CS6, my Mac must have Adobe Premier for its operation?

You install PPro to then install the bundled Encore, but you do not need PPro to run Encore (but be VERY careful if you try to uninstall Premiere Pro, that you do not also uninstall Encore)

Microsoft is not in the business of giving software away for free, they sell it instead.
Buy a copy of Windows 7 Home premium or Professional, then install it using the method of your choice.

  • Need help: I have G4 Tiger and want to install PPC G5 1.5 GHz

I bought a used G4 with Tiger 1.4 on it. I need to install 1.5 to get Vonage softphone and I am not sure how to do it, where to find it, if it can be done, etc. Can anyone help - in plain English - not techy talk, because I will not understand you.

I bought a used G4 with Tiger 1.4 on it. I need to install 1.5 to get Vonage softphone and I am not sure how to do it, where to find it, if it can be done, etc.
Well, Tiger is OSX version 10.4 In addition there are sub-versions such as 10.4.2, 10.4.6, up to the latest sub version 10.4.11 (note, that is an eleven at the end). The information you report doesn't really fit into this pattern so we need to determine what exactly it is that you have installed.
Jumping ahead, if by "1.5" you really mean "10.5" that isn't Tiger at all but Leopard. To get that on your computer you will have to purchase a retail (discs black in color) installer set of Leopard from Apple online, from a retailer near you, or used. If you buy used make certain it is the black retail set of discs, not gray ones as those will not install on your computer.
One other thing added in edit. You say, "I have G4 Tiger and want to install PPC G5 1.5 GHz" A G4 is one kind of computer, a G5 is another. I think at this stage it would help greatly to determine what exactly it is you have since that will affect what kind of systems you can run. Go to the apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Select "About this Mac" then "more info" Copy and paste the information in a reply but remove the serial number. You can paste that serial number into [this linked web site|http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html] and copy and paste the model information here.

If you purchased it from the Mac App Store, sign in with the Apple ID used to buy it, click on the Purchases tab, and download it from there.
If you purchased it from the iTunes App Store, you can't without getting the Mac OS X version.

  • I have Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b) installed, but Installer says it can't determine the version.

    Hi, this is weird.
I am trying to install a number of applications on to my MacBook Pro running 10.7.3.
The weird thing is packages that use the installer are telling me that I don't have a new enough OS to run their software. I can't even install Safari 5.1.4.
Anyways, when I look in the Installer's logs, I see six of the following errors:
Mar 26 01:05:28 MacBookPro Installer[17323]: IFJS: *** exception: TypeError: 'null' is not an object (evaluating 'my.target.systemVersion')
So it looks like to me that my OS is having difficulty figuring out what OS it is running.
I go to About this Mac under the Apple menu and it says 10.7.3, build 11D50b.
Any ideas on how to fix this, or what I might have done to cause this?
Could it be problems with the "b" build?
    Cheers, Andrew.

Back up all data, then boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
