I have Lion os.

I have 10.8 os and iphoto 8.1.2. How do I upgade to the latest version of iPhoto?( I plain to upgrade to maverick tihs summer)

The latest version of iPhoto requires Mavericks. If desired, buy an iLife 11 DVD from a source such as Amazon or eBay, back up your library, install it, and get the applicable updater from the Mac App Store or Apple's website.

  • App store says I have lion installed, and wont open iWork

Every time I try to open any iWork app I get an error message saying "Keynote cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Keynote works with this version of Mac OS X. (Below is the problem details and system config.) I went to apple>about this mac and I have OS X 10.6.8 installed and it had worked before. I then go to the app store and it says I have Lion installed....I never paid to download Lion and it is no installed on my mac because I have none of the new features. The copy of iWork is an academic version provided from my school and I have never had any problems with it until now. Can anyone help?

I'd be posting in the iWork forums.

  • I have Lion on an external hard-drive and I want to install it on the internal disk

I have Lion on an external hard-drive and I want to install it on the internal disk. How can I proceed?

I recently completed a clean install of Lion on an internal SSD. After wiping it clean, I used a thumb drive with SL on it to boot and then another thumb drive with Lion on it. It worked just fine. The only thing to be aware of is that if you use the thumb to install Lion from... it will not install a recovery partition and you'll have to use the thumb in the future.
That's what I wanted anyway so it's working out just fine. Good luck.
I should add... I used the SL thumb to actually boot from and used Disk Utlities to wipe the internal SSD. It does work and there are Apple posts that can guide you through the thumb drive process. I used copycat to create both the SL boot and Lion.

  • I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

I have a Mac Pro with four hard drives. I currently have Lion installed on one hard drive. I want to have the option to boot from either Lion or Snow Leopard. How can I do this?

It's best to install Snow Leopard on one of the three remain drives without an Operating System.
You can then install the applications you need from the original media. Create a User Account using Setup Assistant.
Do you want to migrate User Accounts from the OSX LIon boot drive, or are you keeping the User Accounts separate?
Dual-booting just requires holding the option key during startup and selecting either Lion or Snow Leopard.

  • My laptop hard drive crashed, used to have lion now it is back to snow leopard. how do i get it back to lion again?

my laptop hard drive crashed, used to have lion now it is back to snow leopard. i lost all of my info, music, pictures, etc. how do i get it back to lion again? this is very frustrating because i paid $30 to download it and now i am unable to have it again.

If your Mac is off then start up. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the Option key until the Mac and Windows Disks show up. Then click on the Mac disk and the arrow below it. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.
If you are in Windows then look for the Boot Camp icon on the taskbar. It will look like a gray box sitting on one corner. One of the options when you click it is to restart in Mac OS. After it boots up in Mac then go to System Preferences>Startup Disk and select your Mac partition as the Startup disk.

  • How do I erase mountain lion developer preview and go back to Lion 10.7? I do not have lion or data backed up on my Air

How do I erase mountain lion developer preview and go back to Lion 10.7? I do not have lion or data backed up on my Air
I need a step by step instructions since I have never done this before, willing to set up partition if needed.

If you installed Lion from the Mac App Store or got it with the computer, restart with the Option key held down and see if its recovery partition still exists; if it does, tab to it, use the Disk Utility on it to erase the Mountain Lion partition or repartition the drive, and install Lion onto the blank partition. If you installed Lion from the USB thumb drive, use that.

  • I have Lion as my current and main OS. Is it possible to partition part of my hard drive for Snow Leopard?

I have Lion as my current and main OS. Is it possible to partition part of my hard drive for Snow Leopard? I'm good on partitioning but when I insert the Snow Leopard install disk a message tells me I can't run the install program because I currently have Lion installed... obviously. Have I gone about this the wrong way? Do I need to boot the computer using the Snow Leopard install disk instead of my main HD?

Apple will never update that as for the most part it is true, and the fact that they really don't want you to run older OS X versions (for whatever reason).
Now this probably won't work with the next line of MBPs and MBAs that come out. But it is for the current builds.
But as I stated you need one of the lastest builds of SL for it to even boot the system.
It won't work with the retail 10.6.3 DVD disc. That version does not have the correct drivers for the newest Mac's.

  • How do I create and send a zip file? I have Lion and I'm working in Word for mac

To show you how little I know about any of this, I don't even know if this is the correct forum in which to ask this question. I'm a copywriter. I have a client in France. I have 15 word documents, 15 of the same documents in PDFs and a small Excel document to send him. Simple, mutlipage Word docs. Short two-page Excell sheet. I want to create a zip file for them to send to him. Can I do it? How? I have unzipped zip files other people have sent to me, but I've never created or sent one myself. I'm working in Word for Mac 2011. I have Lion. I'm using Mac's email. Please don't assume I know anything. I need very, very simple, play by play instructions. You are all very helpful, so I have high hopes.

You will be able to both zip and unzip. If the recipient of your zipped file does not have zip, he/she will need to get it, or you could send him/her the above address so that he/she can unzip his/her file.
(I wish the English language could settle on the use of something less clumsy that he/she him/her etc.)
BTW, I think that you can zip only folders, not separate files, so put even one file into a folder before zipping).

  • I have lion on my iMac and iPhoto file is missing

I have lion on my iMac and my question is on where my photos are stored.  Under pictures I do not have a folder titled iPhoto as I should.
Under Pictures I do have iPhoto Libary Recovered Photos, as well as, Photo Booth, I chat icons, Adobe,Alaska (photo file i made i photo) iPhoto slideshow, iPhoto Booth, windows PC which contains lots photos, and several jpgs .  This is a mes
This Is my first mac and the mac store transfered my photos ( a very large amount on photos)  they had a lot of problems in the transfer, In attempt to clean this up they mistakes may have been made
I would appreciate Help in  cleaning up this iPhoto file

OK, so just that I understand the situation. You bought a Mac with 10.6, and it was updated to 10.7. Can you explain at what stage the Mac store transferred your photos, and from where? When you upgrade from (for example) 10.6 to 10.7, it shouldn't require ANY moving of photos.
Do you still have the iPhoto application, at least? (Check in the Applications folder).
Try searching on your drive (using Spotlight, at the top right of the screen) for "iPhoto Library". You could also check your Time Machine - go into the TM interface (Enter Time Machine from the menu icon, don't just open your external drive) and look in the Pictures folder at several points in the past. See if you can identify when it was present, and when it disappeared from that location.

  • I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices?

I have Lion on my laptop and I want to back up my calendar TO my iphone. Not the reverse. iCloud only goes from iphone to iCloud to mac not the other way. Also, why doesn't "sync" mean update most recent changes across all devices? I thought that was the point of iCloud. Any suggestions since iCloud doesn't seem to work?

It's a work computer so I wanted to save them to my iTunes so I can access from another computer.  Should I go to a home computer and just Import for best results?  If so how do I do this?  Also, why would I be synched with another library and how do I find out what this is?  Very new/green user here

  • I now have Lion on my laptop, and now I cannot get Word, or Office or anything. Do I have to buy the new Microsoft for Mac

I now have Lion on my laptop, and now I cant get Word, or Office or any of my Microsoft for Mac stuff to work. Do I have to buy a new version of all this now that the operating software is Lion instead of leopard?

Support for Office 2004 went away when Lion adandoned support for the Rosetta emulator that let Snow Leopard and earlier run old PPC programs like Office 2004 on an Intel Mac.
The first version of Office that runs natively on an Intel Mac is Office 2008. The current version is Office 2011 and should offer no problems.
Your choice of Office version depends on whether you count on Entourage as your mail client. Office 2008 was the last version to include Entourage. With Office 2011, Entourage was replaced by a Mac version of Outlook BUT you must buy the more expensive "business" version to get Outlook. It does not come with the more affordable "Home/Student" edition.

  • I HAVE LION ON ONE IMAC, DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT FOR EVERY IMAC

  • Have lion on 5 year old 20" mac desktop. tried to download and received a message mountain lion not compatible with this computer. anyone else have this problem?

have lion 10.7.4 up graded from tiger 10.5.8. tried to download mountain lion but received a message that mountain lion is not compatible with my computer. anyone have this problem or suggestion?

It's actually not the chip... it's the drivers for the video card. this is what my friend who does IT work said.
"The drivers for your Mac's video card are not 64bit compatible even though the computer itself is. Mountain Lion has done away with all 32bit OS components so it only runs on full 64bit MAcs now"
So even though I updated my video card to a newer version and my computer itself is 64bit... apple didn't create a driver for it that was 64 bit. My hardware is fine for this update and the chip can handle it. It can handle all my 64 bit programs just fine. It's apple forcing me to update and buy a new expensive computer. So much for long lasting computer... they last long but they won't be supported very long.
Why not release a version of mountain lion that supports 32 bit graphics alongside the 64 bit? Wasn't that what grand central was going to accomplish? This is rubbish.

  • When Lion officially comes out from the Mac App Store, I understand that I can just buy it from there. However, will the laptops have Lion automatically? Or does it come with Snow leopard still.

When Lion officially comes out from the Mac App Store, I understand that I can just buy it from there. However, will the laptops have Lion automatically? Or does it come with Snow leopard still.

The ones sold that day will come with Snow Leopard most likely but they will be able to get a free upgrade to LIon if they apply within 30 days. Hardware coming through the supply chain from the day of the announcement will have Lion installed so it depends what stock people have to move before buyers see those.

Verify your computer meets Lion's system requirements, and then purchase 10.6 followed by 10.7 or wait for the 10.7 flash drives to come out in August.
