I have Logic on my iMac and want to install it on my new mac book but my mac book doesn't have a dvd drive. I tried to download the upgrade but it looks for an older version. How do I get Logic on the Mac book ?

You can only use the App Store version to reinstall on your new Mac if you bought Logic via the App Store in the first place.... and then it will appear under the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store App so long as you are signed in using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic via the App store in the first place.
If you bought the DVD edition of Logic Studio then you must initially install using those original DVDs to begin with and then update to the latest version of your version of Logic via software updates.
No DVD drive? Buy an external one.. Amazon do a very cheap basic one that works well..
or...
Use Remote Disk if you still have your older Mac which has a built in DVD drive...

After installing the discs I tried to enter the serial number and an alert said the serial was already used. I got a light room 5 and once i put in the serial number its asking for an older version serial number. I had downloaded a 30 day trail few months back , but I dont hinki it had a serial number since it was only a trail version. I got it directly from Adobe a few hours aga and when I am trying to call them, I am on hold for the last 30 mts
You probably purchased a upgrade License so you will have to contact Adobe to get a refund and purchase the "Full Version".

Run the cleaner, reinstall.

And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

I have successfully imported a Pages document from my (new) iPad but it will not open because it tells me that "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document".

I cannot share itune files on the same laptop. I have two users on my laptop using windows 7.file sharing is turned on,when i click on the itune startup screen-find music files, nothing happens. the instructions in the help section must be from an earlier version of itunes because the edit folder is not laid out like it describes.
Have you rendered both iOS 7 and iOS 8 (both of which will work on your iPhone 5) out of the question entirely without trying every possible configuration? The animations can be disabled entirely, if that's the problem. And if the whiter-brighter user interface is the problem, there's reverse-contrast modes that darken everything. You can expose accessibility controls to gain immediate access to these functions to toggle them on and off. I guess my point is you may have decided against upgrading the OS based on an early experience with iOS 7 when Apple has since made changes in later revisions to address some of the usability complaints.
Now, Apple's instructions for downloading older versions of apps is to do so from the Purchased list, not from the app's product page.

All the cd's I have bought over the years, have all been uploaded into iTunes on my Windows PC. I have tried just copying my iTunes folder across to my new iMac, but it doesn't recognise all of the music (but it does recognise some?). Can someone please tell me the best way to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to my iMac?

I have just bought an iMac and want to move my iTunes library over from a PC.
Unfortunately all my CDs have been ripped as WAV files for maximum quality, so all the metadata is in the iTunes library file. I can get the wav files copied over easily enough, but the Mac won't read the iTunes library xml file for some reason. Any suggestions before I start ripping everything again?

I have some mainframe extract files loaded onto a Solaris drive that are between 1 and 4 GB to be used in an initial load of a data warehouse. I can't even open a file with file sizes that large. (We're running JDK 1.2.2 - not sure if that matters.)
