I have lost the entire contents of my iTunes Library, with the exception of music bought and downloaded from the iTunes Store. Any ideas please?

That just means that iTunes can't locate the files. Have you perhaps moved, deleted or renamed a folder that contained the music you had in your library?

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. 3 iPods, one library and seem to have lost most of my iTunes library

Here's the deal - 3 separate iPods, uneducated users, and (we think) one library. Most of the library now has the little ! beside each song however some songs are still on one of the iPods but can't be found in the library. I seriously need help. Any thoughts appreciated.

HT1364 after moving itunes media folder to different disk drive i think i have lost most of my library how can i get it back?

due to lack of memory space i moved my itunes media library,only now i think i have lost most of my library as the i tunes page comes up empty,no playlists,no music, no music videos,no tv shows. can anyone help?

I don't think it is lost. I think it is on the other hard drive where you put it.
There are better and worse ways to move a library. If possible, put it back the way it was, and then move it by following this guide: iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder

I have an iphone 4s. I have a mac computer and a pc. Most of my itunes library is on my pc, but when I try to add music to my phone from my library on the pc, it won't let me do it. I CAN add music from my library that is on my mac, same account.

My husband and I are using the same iTunes account on all mac & pc computers, but the libraries are different on each machine. We always manually manage our music (no auto sync). iTunes is up to date on the PCs. My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines. He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4. I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s. How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?

I had the exact same issue!! Seriously p*ssed me off when I checked out my ITunes purchased items (via my computer) and noticed that most of the additional tracks listed on my IPhone playlist was listed there too. However, I never authorized any purchases!! (I have actually written Apple Support asking for a full refund of all tracks listed on my purchased list)
Be careful when you swipe your finger to the left/right on those "additional" tracks on your IPhone playlist... I'm pretty sure that the cloud symbol is an option to download or automatically buy those tracks.
Solution for the problem:
1 - go to your IPhone settings
2 - choose "iTunes & App Store"
3 - go to "Show All" & "Music"
4 - turn off "Music" by moving the bar to the left (it should be a white color once you turn it off)

I have a similar problem.
I just bought 2 albums (Pirates of the Caribean III and Linkin Park - Mintues to midnight) and every time I want to play one of the songs it asks me for my account password. After entering it, it says this computer was activated. But it still doesn't work!!
If I want to sync I get the same message:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod"

i lost all of my itunes library last night.
first thing i did was try to delete all the data on my girlfriends ipod and sync her ipod touch to my library. i tried that and assumed it worked, then i upgraded to the new itunes when it was all dont i checked my itunes and found that all of my itunes data was gone hundreds of songs and movies and apps that i have bought. all of it gone and i cant get it to search my pc for the data like it would normaly. Help me please im freaking out over loosing all of this.
