I have lost my events. Now all 10,137 photos are in one event. Is that reversible?
I was working with flagging photos and making new events. I don't know what I did but suddenly all 10,137 photos were in the flagged folder. I couldn't unflag tham - at least it didn't look like anything was happening to my effort to get them unflagged and back in their respective events. Now I have 2 events, one with my most recent download and one with the other 10,137 photos. My backup "Western Digital" has duplicated the mistake. Is there anyway to undo this mess? If I take the many laborious hours to remake all the events, will I then have double of everything in my iMac backup Library? that is, 10,137 photos times 2.
I don't understand how the iMac works as far as returning the computer to an earlier state. I have iPhoto 11.

By the backup, do you mean the Western Digital or the backup on my computer? I don't know how to restore either backup devices, but I have books to research on each option.
I tried the autosplit selected event. I'm sorry I didn't see that before I asked my question. I was in panic mode and just bypassed that answer. Anyway, I hadn't set any preference settings - not knowing about those either - and the program did a decent job of coordinating some of the pictures, a poor job of coordinating other pictures, and I laughed out loud at some of the pictures that were put together in an event.
I will try the restore if I can learn how to use it.

HELP!! I viewed my "backup" files, and now ALL of my photos are no longer "linked" to Lightroom.
I thought I was missing some files, so I viewed my backup files. I received a "warning" that Lightroom would restart and view my backup files. I did NOT receive any warning, that there was NO GOING BACK!! I've tried everything. I cannot re-link ANY of my photos. Well, I did just do one, and it told me all the other photos in the folder were corrupt and Lightroom would not be able to edit them (and no, it was not an exported .jpeg file). Fortunately, I am not concerned about this folder, that's why I tested it. I was forced to moved all of my photos from my C drive to my D drive because for some weird reason on this computer, my D drive is 5 times bigger and I ran out of room. When I did that, I was able to relink all the pictures. Sadly, it didn't keep my Folders, it just relinked them all by date. That I can deal with, even though it makes finding photos much more difficult, but I wasn't about to try to rename any of them and have to relink again.
Now, I can't relink any of them because it appears in Lightroom that all photos are back in the C drive and therefore, the new photos that I placed on the D drive are not there, and nothing will relink, period, not even the ones that were originally on my C drive!
I have never been so aggravated in my life. I LOVE Lightroom capabilities. I have version 2.3. When I look it up on the online help, all I get is how the photos are in whatever location they were saved, but they are linked, etc. I already know that part. I seriously wish I had NEVER looked at my backup files. I don't think I'll bother backing up stuff anymore because apparently looking at the backup messes up everything.
I fully anticipated that I would be able to go back, choose my folders on my D drive and have all of my current photos available. Sadly, not.

I was in my "regular" Lightroom photos, and I couldn't locate some pictures I took last December. So, I thought, well, why not look at the back up files? I'm normally excellent at remembering exact steps, but I'm so worried about all of my thousands of photos, I can only explain what I think I did. I went into Windows Explorer, and chose the backup files. When I did, I received the warning about Lightroom restarting and loading the backup photos. I hesitated for a full minute, but thought, well, isn't that what backup files are for? So, I selected it. Lightroom opened the backup photos without any problem. But, when I went back, and tried opening the photos that were linked to Lightroom, they were no longer linked. When I click on the formerly linked photos, they just open in Windows Explorer, not Lightroom. When I open Lightroom, it has says all the photos are "missing." All of the folders are listed in my C drive (in Lightroom), not where they'd been moved to on my D drive. The one photo I relinked, stated the photos in that folder could not be edited in Lightroom. So, I'm afraid to try to relink anymore of them. Also, as I said, any photos that I originally imported to my D drive are not showing up in Lightroom at all.
I would say, I normally learn software quickly. That was my experience with Lightroom. I installed it, went through all of the online training sessions, and have loved it. Admittedly, I'm sure there are features that I don't make use of that many people do, but I'm just a passionate photography nut, not a professional.
The online help basically explains the linking, and even how to relink if you "move" a file, a folder to another location. It doesn't cover this, or not where I can find it.
I've think I've given up on yelling at the computer, now I just have knots in my stomach about getting photos relinked. I have probably 80% of them exported, with the adjustments I made, but that does not make me feel one bit better.

How do I not sync notes with my email? I have a business email on my iphone as well as my husbands iphone. Now all of my notes are on his phone, and all of his notes he previously has on his iphone are gone. We have never adjusted any settings or hooked it up to itunes, I only added the shared email account to his phone. Help???

Notes are associated with an IMAP email account or iCloud account. To sync Notes, enable Notes for each account in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud.
You can stop syncing notes by tapping Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud, tapping the email address that you added, and switching Notes to the off position.
Additionally, if your husband has backed up his iPhone to iTunes or iCloud, the steps in this article can help with recovering the lost notes from his device:

When I did the upgrade it resulted in me having to do a factory reset because it was pausing for long periods of time. It went through the backup and all other steps but now all of my ringtones are gone from iTunes, thus the phone. I tried to redownload one I had purchased and it made me purchase it again (I did this as a test), and it said I had purchased it before but still required me to purchase again.
Anyone have a solution/thoughts/help?Command + Z undoes the last action you did, did you just move those files into that folder?
Use Spotlight to search for the files, or look for them in their original location(s).

I just Synced My iPhone 6 which had close to 2000 photos to a new computer (windows PC) and synced with iTunes.Now all my previous photos have been deleted which were there on my phone. Please suggest a way to recover those Photos . Thanks
P.S -I have not taken any backup of those photos. So please suggest any software or any other method.If those photos were part of the camera roll, they were part of the backup as well and you can restore from the latest backup you made on the old computer. After that transfer the photos to the new PC, follow this article: iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Then sync again to the new one, which will erase the phone again.
You can also try to copy the backup folder from the old computer to the new one and see if the old backups get recognized, check this article to find the location on your PC:

If the photos were not taken with the phone, your data is gone, photos you sync from iTunes to the phone are not included in the backup. -
I deleted my duplicate contacts one by one on my iPad but have lost over 600 contacts on my iPad they are all on my iPhone but when I sync my iCloud I only have 200 contact on my iPad but have all 820 on my iPhone can any one help
Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing. -
my mom updated her iphon4 last night and now all of her contacts are gone. i have tried everything that I have come across and nothing is working. help?
What cloud service or contact manager was she syncing them to? They should still be there and she should be able to sync them back. If she was not doing so, they are gone.

My computer has changed how it accepts photos from my phone. They used to post into a library by the month and year, e.g., "Feb 2014 photo stream," but now all of the photos from my phone for the past year or so are lumped together into the "Shared" section under "photo stream." I did not put them there (that I know of) and now don't know how to get them out and into a library where I can categorize them.
The monthly events "Feb2014" will show you all photos that have been imported from "My Photo STream", if you have enabled "Automatic Import" in the "Preferences > iCloud" tab.
The albums you are seeing under "iCloud" are the "Shared Photo Streams" and "My Photo Stream". To import from your "Shared Streams" drag the photos frommthe Shared Streams album to the Projects in the library panel. -
I added a folder accidentally to my iTunes library and now all of the songs are in there twice. I tried to stop the import but it transferred too quickly. How do I delete all those songs without having to click on each one to delete?
Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning
to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

My daugther' iphone apple id is under my wife's email and now all music and pictures are attached to that id. My wife now has an ipad and I am looking at using the existing id during set up? Thus, I would like to establish new apple id for daughter, associated to her email account, however I do not want to lose or share her music/photos, nor share with my wife's id. Is this possible, or is it best just to establish a new id for my wife, and then change the email address associated with the existing apple id?
well if you establish a new apple id for your wife that would be best unless you email all of the existing photos to your email and then when you have established a new id then you log into your email on the new id and save all of your pics onto it by pressing on tthe pic for about 5-8 seconds then options will come up and you press the save to my album ..as for the music if you can copy and paste, through computer, the songs then awesome!

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone. -
