I have lost my serial number and disk for lightroom 3 and I need it - I have since upgraded to v5 but have gotten a new laptop and want to install lightroom on there. I have my order number from 2011 for v3 AD003916979. How can I get my old serial number?

On you other machine with Lr5 installed or Lr3 installed search for a file on you computer called "Lightroom 3.0 Registration" or "Lightroom 5.0 Registration". You may have to search for hidden/system files. These files contain your Serial Numbers in plain text.
Otherwise, if your order number is from Adobe you can log in with your account to see your purchased products or contact Adobe with that order number.

PS CS3 was installed and used successfully, until my teenager crashed my computer. I still have all of the icons in place, but I am not able to activate them. The box is long gone, along with the serial number How can I work through to find the serial number, or what technical instructions would helpful to solving this inherited issue. Go to Adobe.com sign in withe your Adobe User ID and the use this link Adobe ID . That should retrieve a list of your Adobe products. When the list is displayed click on your CS3 product to retrieve your serial number.

The serial number that you might have is an upgrade version & it will be asking for a previous qualifying version serial number.

If you never bought the product then you cannot get the serial number.

Do you have the receipt? If you have proof of ownership, you _may_ be able to persuade Customer Support to help you out. I imagine you would need to scan and email that proof if it works at all.

If you have lost your serial number then the first thing you should do is to check your DVD if it is attached on the sleeve of the DVD. Also, if you registered your product withy Adobe then your account should have a record of your serial number.
If neither of this apply then you can browse the Amazon website and look for a bargain on PSE12. PSE12 runs better on new computers and you also get updates for new cameras.
It looks like you have to buy a new product because serial numbers are not something you can get free of charge here.

If you set up the Find My iPod service prior to the iPod going missing, then there is a chance that can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the iPod is turned on, connected to a WiFi network, and has not had the Find My iPod service disabled). Questions:
Is the app store looking to my hard drive for traces of aperture to determine whether it has been purchased or is it looking at some kind of purchase history within the app store?
Is there anyway to wipe my hard drive clean of aperture files or wipe clean my app store purchase history so that i can start over?
If none of this is possible, does anyone have a possible solution?
If i were to redownload aperture (currently for free since it won't let me pay) when a subsequent update comes out (say it goes from version 3.2.2 to 3.2.3) can i then elect to buy aperture, pay the fee and will it appear as a purchased app and allow me to get upgrades going forward? Would any data be compromised with this?
1. Do you have a backup connected to your Mac that contains the app? If so, yes the MAS can detect that and believes that the app is installed.
2. If the app no longer appears in the purchase history on the Purchased pane in the MAS, then it would seem that Apple has taken care of that.
4. Updates, such as you describe are free. Upgrades are not. An upgrade is a new paid version of the app, such as v 3.0 to v 4.0.
