I have lost my serial number

Question

I had Final Cut Express installed on my powerbook when I purchased it two years ago. A month ago or so, my hard drive went crazy, and I had to take my computer to the apple store to have the information pulled off and a new hard drive installed. When I went to open Final Cut, it came up with the license agreement and it said I needed to give my name, address and serial number located on the disc. The problem is that a year ago most of my belongings were destroyed, including the disc. I registered the product when I bought it originally. Does anyone know if my serial number is on file somewhere, or do I have to rebuy FCE?

Hum, may be it's a problem for Apple customers service or apple store.
Did you call the apple store for a question about a past order ? In the store apple's person can see your past purchases... so there is a proof of your ownership (you know, the list of your past orders, or credit card records). May be this person can make a move for you and call the person at the apple care center. Be polite but expose your problem with a strong position.
May be a letter from your insurance company confirming the destroying of your house can help.
Did you register your FCE copy upon installation ? This info may be available to apple's representative and can prove your ownership too.
And if anything dont work, you can take a chance with the apple office of your country (not the apple store or apple care phone numbers, but the phone of ... the boss).
If all those suggestion do not work, try to make a claim from your insurance company for the cost of a new copy.
