I have lost saved bookmarks wheon running a system "Restore" on my netbook ... can I re-access them?

I am having to restore ALL of my data ... and being able to access all that I had on firefox would save me many days of effort.

Thanks - now I can see an applications folder, and have found a .default file, hope this is the one. Should I now follow these instructiosn to restore my profile, or just go to organise bookmarks and import the default file?
Copying files between profile folders
Note: Firefox must be closed down while copying files between profile folders.

3. Right-clickHold down the Ctrl key while you click on a file you want to copy and choose Copy.
4. Open the new Firefox profile folder.
5. Right-clickHold down the Ctrl key while you click inside the profile folder and choose Paste Item.
Repeat steps 2-5 for each file you wish to transfer over to your new profile folder.
While copying your personal data from an old Firefox profile to a new Firefox profile, it is possible that you could copy over the file that is causing the problem you are trying to get rid of! The more files you copy over, the greater the chance of this happening. It is therefore recommended that:

Connect to the computer the last backup is on, right click on its name in iTunes, and choose "Restore from backup". A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Unfortunately not. Lion has made many adjustments to the previous system. Try opening your pdfs in keynote.

Generally speaking, your bookmarks are private to your computer, and if you set up multiple Firefox profiles on your computer, to the one profile.
Your bookmarks might be available to you at another location if you used the Sync service. If you didn't use Sync or can't access your account, someone with access to your old computer could email you your bookmarks. Bookmarks can appear to be lost when there is a problem with the file that stores the bookmarks, in this case that is the places.sqlite file.
You can check the places.sqlite database file with this extension.

If that didn't help then try to remove all places files in the Firefox profile folder and that includes It is possible temporary SQLite files like places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal besieds the places.sqlite file.
Remove all places.sqlite file(s) in the Firefox profile folder to make Firefox rebuild the places.sqlite database from the most recent JSON backup (bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx_$$.jsonlz4) in the bookmarkbackups folder.
If that didn't work then you can restore the bookmarks from a compressed .jsonlz4 backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.
The xxxx in the "bookmarks-####-##-##_xxxx_$$.jsonlz4" name denotes the total number of bookmarks (folders and separators included) stored in the file.

You did not steal my thunder. You asked for advice, I provided advice. I assumed that since you nor the "support team" could find your files that you did not have any backup. You should have told us you do regular backups. We have no way to know otherwise unless you tell us.

HT1212 i have lost my password and been trying to restore but don't understand way it never get completed(my ipad3 gets on between the process and itunes reminds me that the device is passcode protected so it can't be connected and then the download also

after attempting many worng passwords my ipad atlast ask me to connect to the itunes and there is't any other option it is showing on it , and don't have the backup of my ipad on my pc so search the net and got the answer to restore it ......
