I have mac os x 10.6.8 and I want to upgrade my operating system

How do I upgrade my operating system.

First, which OS do you want to upgrade to?
Here are some requirements for the OS X versions after Snow Leopard. See if your MBP qualifies for any of these.
OS X Lion 10.7.5
OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5
OS X Mavericks 10.9.1
Mavericks is free. OS X Lion and Mountain Lion would need to be purchased and you would have to call Apple Sales (800-MY-APPLE  USA) to purchase a redemption code; then redeem it at the App Store.

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8.  How can I upgrade the operating system so I can get i Life 11?

You will need Snow Leopard which is available as a retail disk for $29 from the Apple store or online resellers. Make sure your Mac meets the system requirements; 1 GB RAM is the absolute minimum - 2 GB would be better.

You can leave the existing RAM in their current slots and add compatible modules in the empty slots. For best performance, add two of teh same size. Our 2010 iMac 21" shipped with 4GB RAM---two 2GB modules in two of the four slots. I added two 2GB modules to the empty slots and now have 8 GB RAM.
Be sure to order RAM from a trusted Mac-savvy RAM vendor. Some vendors thing a Mac is a hamburger. For over a decade I've bought all our Mac RAM (and we have 18 Macs in teh family!) from one vendor:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2011/DDR3_21.5_27
The link is to the proper RAM for your Mac.
Crucial.com is also a trusted vendor.

Suggest that you take them up on their offer of a new battery.  Make sure you got the right one for your model MBP.

  • Hello, I have macbook pro 2008 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade to new soft, which one is the proper one for me Snow leopard or mountain Lion

Hello, I have macbook pro, late 2008, OS X 10.5.8 and I want to upgrade to new soft, which one is the proper one for me Snow leopard or Mountain Lion, and what is the differences between those.
What do you recommend at this time for me.
    Thanks a lot

You can upgrade to Mountain Lion, but you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard first. Buy Snow Leopard > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Then, make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. After upgrading, open Apple menu > Software Update and install the most recent version. Mac OS X 10.6.8 includes the App Store, so open it and purchase Mountain Lion. See if your programmes are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com

  • I have the original iPad and want to upgrade the operating system and do not have a home computer available to go through iTunes to upgrade it. Is there a place that I can take it to upgrade it for me?

I have the ipad1 and want to upgrade the IOS system and do not have a home computer to do it. Is there someplace I can take it and have it done for me professionally? I checked with Best Buy and they declined.

A physical Apple Store. If you want to do it yourself, you can use any computer with an Internet connection.

I have an iMac 10.5.8 and looking for the latest operating system I can get for it. Does anyone know what that would be?

Without more information, it would be anyone's guess - you need to post your model number, and/or model identifier (available in System info in About your Mac), as well as the model year.

    Hi!
In this case you need to reinstall the Operating System on your client, if you have bought a retail DVD with Windows 8, it should contain the files for both x86 and x64.
If the OS came pre-installed on the client, you need to acquire a new license for x64.
The one you have mentioned is intended for companies that are already running Windows 7, for example, and want to upgrade to Windows 8.

  • I have just got an old ibook 4g and i want to know what os system i can run on it please

i have just got an old refurbed ibook 4g and was wondering if anyone out there would know what os system i can run on it pleased

    Hello,
Depends on which version of the iBook G4 you own. If it greater than the 800Mhz model then you could install Mac OS X 10.5 (leopard) Otherwise it would be Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
There are alterative PPC versions of Linux like Ubuntu that could also be installed as an OS

  • I have a HP Pavilion a6220a home pc and I want to upgrade it.

Where is a good place to get the computer parts from and what do i need to get

There is no easy way to let you down gently.  The circa 2007 HP a6220a (Australian) is unworthy of upgrade.  It's that serious. Here are the specs.  You'll note the limited motherboard speed, ram capacity, and PCIEI x 16 ver 1.1 bottle-neck.

I have Mac OS X 10.5.8. How do I upgrade to Snow Leopard to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Your machine is likely too dated to run 10.8 at all , or if it does will run slow.
It won't run your PPC based software or hardware drives for external hardware.
10.6 will run your PPC software and likely is best for that machine performance speaking, Software Update to 10.6.8 and stay there.
You better do your research first.

I have Mac os x with 10.4.11 and i want to upgrade, what is the next operating software from a 10.4.11 for a g4 and can it be done on a g4

If you have a processor of 867 MHz or faster and a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, you can run OS X Leopard, updated to 10.5.8.
That's as far as a G4 can go.
    Check eBay for discs:
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Mac+OS+X+10.5+Leopard+Retail&_sacat=0&_odkw= Mac+OS+X+10.5+Leopard+Full+Retail&_osacat=0
No Snow Leopard, 10.6x or Lion, 10.7x.
they won't run in a PPC Mac.
