I have Mac OSX 10.4.11 but it says Firefox 4 is incompatible when I try to open it

I had a previous version of Firefox installed and after I replaced it with Firefox 4 I get " You cannot use the application "Firefox" with this version of MAC OSX" and the app will not open. I'm using Mac osx 10.4.11 and I don't see anything in the knowledge base regarding this.

Firefox 4 is not compatible with Mac PPC. If that is you're OS, you'll want to revert to Firefox 3.6.15 found here: [http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.15/mac/en-US/ http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.15/mac/en-US/]

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

  • I have Mac OSX, version 10.4.11; I loaded Firefox 4, lost 3.6.16, and now I found out I can't run Firefox 4. Can I get 3.6.16 back?

I have Mac OSX, version 10.4.11; I loaded Firefox 4, lost 3.6.16, and now I found out I can't run Firefox 4. Can I get 3.6.16 back? I am not sure what to do. I dragged my old firefox icon to the desktop and it disappeared. The new icon has a white circle with a slash, and won't open because I have an older version Mac

You can get Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

I-Photo won't open even though I have upgraded to OS X Yosemite and downloaded the I-Photo upgrader.
But have you run the the iPhoto Library upgrader? It is installed in Applications > Utilities. Launch it and direct it to your iPhoto library.
Which version of iPhoto did you upgrade from?
The upgrader is only necessary, if you have been  running iPhoto7.1.2 or earlier.

  • I transfered data from my old Mac, but now it tells me "No Access" when I try to open the files. How can I fix that?

I transfered data from my old Mac, but now it tells me "No Access" when I try to open the files. How can I fix that?

That's the problem, then. The files are under your 'old' user account. You should be able to access them if you log into your old account. However, that's not going to let you move them to your new user account. It's for situations like this that I always create a root user account (although I seldom access it). With a root user account, you can copy files from one user account to another. Note that someone may come up with a better idea than what I would use, but here goes.
Read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and set up a root user. Then you can transfer files from one account to another. If you like, you can delete this account after you've moved your files.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

Have tried to uninstall and reinstall.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

Thank you for responding.  Nothing actually worked!  After reading the posts online, I called Apple.  They indicated they have seen problems with some software after their upgrades.  The technician was able to fix the problem on my computer remotely, but I have no clue what he did!  But, it was definitely related to their recent upgrade to my computer.

Thank you for clarify I'm supposed to read the ENTIRE article. I thought I was just supposed to read the title and magically everything will fix itself. I appreciate you taking the time to help me however I do not appreciate the caps and the way you have addressed the situation. If you are not going to kindly help people/make suggestions just don't try! And for the record my conclusions are not illogical, the iOS7 thing is on the website in small font (which I got by reading the ENTIRE thing) and you should really find a new hobby because your socialization skills need some help! That goes for you too Chris. Not everyone is a tech nerd

Why does apps say to renew my plan when i try to open them but it is already renewed

    Hi Lolo DaBoss,
    Welcome to Adobe Forum,
Since you have three CC under same Adobe ID out of which one is expired, so you are getting the reminders.
Please log out & log back in of the CC desktop App , it should resolve the issue.
    Regards,

  • I have some photos in i photo that come up with a black ! when I try to open them. What is the problem ?

I have some photos in i photo that come up with a black ! when I try to open them. What is the problem ?

It means that iPhoto can't find the file.
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

  • I upgraded to Firefox 6 and now when I try to open it, a window says there's already a copy of Firefox open and there can only be one at a time but there is no other copy!

I was trying to update my Firefox profile from my old computer and it didn't work and as I was in the middle of that process I was prompted to upgrade to Firefox 6 which I did. But now when I try to open Firefox, it won't let me because it says there's another copy already open. I have taken everything related to Firefox except the brand new version of it I just downloaded off my computer and I still get that message. What should I do?

I have a similar problem; but I think the cause of the "already running" message is that my computer crashed.
I rebooted before I learned to look for the parent lock file, but even when I knew to look for it, I found my original profile folder to be empty.
So I created another profile folder, and FF works, but I cannot access my old profile folder. When I open the location where it should be, nothing's there. But if I go to profile manager, I see my original profile is still there (and it has a location, it's where it should be - and where it's invisible, but even if I type in this location, nothing comes up).
I tried making all folders visible (I run Windows 7), but this did not make my old profile visible.
I want to find it because of the bookmarks I bookmarked recently.

  • I have many photos that are visible as thumbnails in the Pictures Library, however when I try to open them in a big screen they show a back screen with an exclamation mark in a triangle.  What does this exclamation mark mean ?

I can see my images in the libarary as thumbnails but when i try to edit/email some of them become Exclamation Marks in a triangle.
What does the exclamation mark mean and how to i retrieve the photo

The exclamation make is an indication that iPhoto has broken the file path to the original photo.
Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I downloaded Firefox 4. Now when I try to open it keeps telling me I need to reboot my computer. I have done this and continue to get the same message. I also cannot delete from my programs in order to reinstall.

After I downloaded Firefox 4, I tried to open it and it repeatedly gives me this message "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" I cannot get past this message. I tried to uninstall this program in order to reinstall, but when I try to do that, I get this same message. I cannot get past this message. I don't know what to do next.

    Hi arpriltime,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • I often am unable to re-open Firefox in my Windows XP based latop after I have just closed a previous session. I have to wait 30 plus seconds or more. I get this message when I try to open immediately

I eventually can open a new session

Firefox does take a little time to close all the files that might be open while it is running (like 5 seconds), but if the process '''''hangs''''' for as long as 30 seconds or more as you said you may have an add-on or a security program that is causing Firefox to take too long to close completely.
[https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox%20hangs#w_firefox-hangs-when-you-quit-it Firefox hangs when you close it]
You need to look in the Processes tab for '''firefox.exe'''. But if you "kill" the process you could lose data. "Session" data is probably the first type of data that could be lost. Also, closing Firefox with a lot of tabs / windows open or rapidly closing tabs or windows immediately before closing Firefox can result in an extended shut down time.
