  • How To Install mini-pci wireless card in 1955-S805 ?

I'm trying to install a new mini-pci wireless card in my Satellite 1955-S805. I was able to pry off the black shiny strip above the keyboard, and unscrew the two screws holding down the keyboard. But under the keyboard is a silver metal plate. There doesn't appear to be a way to get past that. Everything I've read seems to say that the mini-pci card goes under the keyboard.
Does anyone know how to install a mini-pci card in these 1955-S805 notebooks? Or does anyone have a tech manual on this model?
    Thanks,
    Pat

    Hi Pat
I am not sure but you have an US model. I have 1900-703 notebook. It is a European model and I had no problem to install mini-pci wireless card.
Your unit has also wireless keyboard. Am I right?
If you want to built in wireless card you must remove the keyboard from notebook using keyboard releases on the left and right side of your unit. After that you can see small cover on the place of keyboard and this cover is fixed with one screw. Under this small cover there is wireless card slot.

  • Tried every way to install my broadcom wireless card and failed

Hello.. i asked this in the newbie section but didn't get any replies.. i really need help and i don't know where else to go.
i have an hp dv2500 laptop with a Broadcom wireless card.. here is the output of lspci | grep -i net
    08:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03)
at first, i tried getting it to work with the broadcom-wl driver from AUR as suggested by this wiki page: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_BCM4312
i followed all the steps.. however, i did get an error when i tried to exucute this line:
    insmod /lib/modules/2.6.30-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/wl.ko
    and the error was:
    error inserting 'wl.ko': -1 File exists ...
i continued despite this error and when i was done, i couldn't detect the card with iwconfig or wicd.. the modules named "wl" and "lib80211" are loaded but i still can't detect it..
i uninstalled, re-installed and i got the same behaviour..
so then i tried the BCM43xx driver as described here: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … up#BCM43XX
i unpacked the firmware and restarted but i still couldn't detect it.. and i couldn't load the bcm43xx module because arch says was not found..
then i tried the driver after that "b43".. followed the steps on the wiki, restarted, and i still couldn't detect the card with iwconfig or wicd..
i have been trying to get this to work for 3 days now.. i appreciate your time and help in this issue..
    thanks

    thanks for the reply tomk..
so at least we limited the problem to using broadcom-wl..

  • AirPort Status on MacPro without a wireless card installed

    Hi,
I have an interesting glitch. I had used the Migration Assistant to move my preferences and apps over from my MacBook Air to the Pro when I got it. Now I have an icon in the menubar for the Airport status, and I cannot turn it off because there's no airport card installed.
Is there somewhere that I can go to change the icon to not show?
    Thanks!

You can get rid of it by pressing the Command key while dragging it off the menu bar. It should disappear in a puff of smoke.

  • Airport wireless card not installed

Hi everybody, just wondering if anyone has suffered the same problem as i have...any help would be appreciated.
Basically, late 2007 120GB white macbook, bought new. i also run windows xp on it in bootcamp.
a few months ago the laptop started freezing up completely in both OSX and XP and would need a hard restart, on restart there would be no recognition of airport or wireless internet. when looking at airport in OS X it would say that there is no wireless card installed.
however, after a few restarts and resetting the PRAM, the wireless would cough back into life for a bit before freezing completely again and the same process encountered.
for about a month now though there seems to be no way of getting recognition of a wireless card at all, but the laptop is not freezing anymore.
any one had this problem and managed to resolve it?
ive had a bit of a poke around using google but havent really found out much about it....
just to complicate matters, my OS X disks that came with the macbook cant be recognised by it! (with no scratches or marks on them) but my OSX snow leopard disks that came with my 2010 imac do. ive done the system analysis thing with them and nothing showing.
    cheers for any help.

Take it in for repair.  You may not be able to use the installer discs that came with your iMac to reinstall OS X on the MB because the OEM discs are usually machine dependent.  Also, you cannot install on more than one CPU at a time.  It would violate your software license to install from the same installer DVD on two machines.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K ?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer installed PA3070U-1MPC wireless card running with Windows 2000
The wireless client manager finds the network of my wireless router and reports the signal is excellent and I see all green bars swhowing.
However I can't mske a connection, in 'connections' the wireless one says 'network cable is disconnected'
the router works ok with other laptops in my house.
I have latest version of Win2K also have downloaded and installed latest versions of client manager and WLAN card driver for win2k from toshiba website.
The 'toshiba support in Turkey' told me 'I need a different driver for Win2K for my wireless card cause the win2K driver on the toshiba website is not for 'this' wireless card'. I have waited for this for 3 weeks now and have been unable to reach the elusive UK Level 3 support who supposedly have this driver. I have seen on the internet the same wireless card is has been sold as a 'made by toshiba' accessory and it says it is compatible with Wim2K
What do I do next please ? Does this run at all with Win2K , is there 'another driver' and so on ?
    Thanks

    hello
please be more scpecific - what do you mean by 'disconnect the LAN' - I have nothing conneced there anyway ? do you mean 'disable' the LAN even though there is nothing plugged in ? can you please post the exact sequence of this so I can try ir too.
In the meantime my laptop has been to Toshiba for them to sort out at their highest level UK support base. I was hoping my troubles would be over - but no, read below what happened. They are basically saying my win2k is not in order but I had just installed and updated it so right now I haven't a clue what to do next.
START QUOTE of Toshiba Support response:
    Sat Pro 4600
    Serial No: 31474181G
Windows 2000 SP4 (customers build not recovery CD)
BIOS V1.80 not current therefore updated to V2.60
The notebooks wireless card is functional and has the correct driver installed, it also has the correct and latest version of the Wireless Client Manager. The wireless function appears to see the router but will not connect and obtain an IP address. Irrespective of the settings applied within Internet Explorer or the Wireless client manager you cannot obtain a connection. The customer did not have any Toshiba utilities installed such as, Power Saver, Common Modules, Chipset drivers, network device switch, I therefore installed these missing components and updated the BIOS to the most current revision. However despite this the unit will still not connect to the wireless.
I therefore removed the customers HDD and replaced his HDD with a Toshiba loan HDD with a fresh build that I had created. When using the machine with this build the wireless connected without issue and I was able to browse the internet etc. I placed the customers HDD into our machine and the problem with the wireless was replicated on our machine here, therefore the problem is not with the wireless card or any hardware aspect of the machine, the problem lies with the customer's build of Win 2000. I examined for anything obvious but could not find anything, therefore I'm sending this machine back to customer with the advice that his build needs addressing or he needs to reload Win 2000 his machine.
As you can see from the above comments, the machine performs as per specification with loan HDD and fresh build of Win 2000 installed, the problem is only present with you HDD and build in the machine. In addition to this I have replaced the missing screws on the base of the machine ensuring the machine is structure is maintained.
    5 x B16 Screws
    1 x B6 Screw
    1 x Memory Cover Screw

  • Yoga 2 Pro - Wireless Card not Detected by Windows 8.1

Hi, Just got a refurbished Yoga 2 Pro. The first time I started the system up, the wireless showed up and I connected to my local WLAN. However, few minutes later the wireless dropped out. The issue was that Windows stopped detecting the card. Not showing in the device manager. Strange enough the bluetoth was working fine. The card is an Intel 7260NGW. I thought it was the card, so I replaced it with a new Intel AC7260NGW. The same result. I've removed & reinstalled all drivers including the ones from the Intel website. I've formatted and installed a fresh version of windows 8.1 and reinstalled all drivers again. Not to avail. Now running with an USB wireless adapter.  Any clue what's going on? Thanks in advance guys Daniel

OMG, I was just about to buy a new wireless card because I have the same problem.
Some weeks ago my wireless adapter disappeared, the card disappeared altogether even from Device manager, after I installed a new bluetooth driver and after I was connecting to my phone 3G via USB cable.
But then it came back after I left the laptop shut down and unplugged for a whole night. It worked for a few hours and after closing the lid and opening it again wireless adapter was gone again, never to come back.
I tried changing drivers, holding the power button for 20 sec to hard reset the laptop, fresh install of Windows, load BIOS defaults, and even installing Windows 10 in VHD (dual boot) and see if it will reappear there.Always the same - the wireless adapter doesn't exist any more.
However, buetooth has been working without problems, which I find strange.
I read online about similar situations, and all answers point that the wireless card stopped working and needs to be replaced.
But @Papelinas - you say you even bought and installed a new wireless card and STILL have the same problem???I can't believe that something in motherboard got damaged and that only wifi doesn't work...
I've had my Y2P for 6 months, and I don't really have time to send the laptop for repair for some time, I'm using it...
I guess I'll still try to buy a new card, and just hope the wireless adapter will reappear...

  • R61 will not recognize recently added wireless card

Let me begin by giving some back ground info. I have had R61's for many years and when mine wears out I buy used models to replace my older worn out ones. I always was sure to find compatable models as to be able to always swap out the hdd with my own hdd. My latest purchase has me stumped. The hdd swapped out fine, laptop booted fine once i chnaged the compatibilty in the bios. Now coming to my issue...... I came to find out it didnt have a wireless card installed. So i took my intel 4965agn and installed it carefully and correctly, Making sure to connect the antenna wires to the correct posts.  I rebooted the laptop, made sure the radio was on in the bios as well as made sure it was switched on a the front. Now for my issue, The laptop will not recognize the card. Also its not listed in the device manager/network adapters either. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum!
Try booting a "live" Linux CD/DVD/USB and see whether tha card is "seen" there.
    Good luck.

  • Satellite P20-604 - How do I tell if it has a wireless card or not?

I have a P20-604, which I suspect was not pre-installed with a wireless card. Just to make certain my details are:
    Model No: PSP20E-0Du43-G3
    Serial No: 14735613G
If it doesn't have a wireless card, how can I determine which parts to buy so I can set up a wireless connection?
    thank you.
    Seem

    Hello
As far as I know the wireless card is optional on this unit. This means that you have a possibility to upgrade the unit with the miniPCI wireless card. At the bottom of the unit you will find a slot for this card.
Please visit this site for checking which wireless card is compatible with your unit:

  • Wireless Card not working WIFI 5300

Hi, I just bought state of art T400 yesterday, and did not even try to work on Visa Business and recovered XP Pro with the provided recovery CD. All drivers were installed on recovery, except, wireless LAN and Modem. I tried downloading and installing all wireless LAN drivers from lenovo.com and Intel, but it did not work. did any one face such a problem. the device manager does not show any wireless card listed even after multiple installs and rebooting. Thus, updated windows, also SP3, and still the same. Please help...

    Hi,
    I'd suggest the following:
Make sure that the hardware RF kill switch is to the right, so that the WiFi radio is enabled.
Remove whatever WiFi drivers you've installed.
Download and install ThinkVantage System Update and run it. It should download and install the correct WiFi driver for your ThinkPad.
Please post back with whether that solves your problem.
    Good luck!

  • Wireless card suddenly fails to be detected on dv1000 laptop

    Hi there,
My HP dv1000 worked fine with some Atheros wireless card. This morning the operating system( winxp ) suddenly can't detect it. I googled around but there seems to be nothing really helpful to this problem. Did anybody ever come thru this before?
    Thanks.

atheros? you so crazy. anyways for people with this same problem reading this, I just fixed it and ill go into more detail how so you can do it and not go crazy.
The DV1000 uses the intel pro wireless card. When you reinstall windows, all the other drivers are fairly easy to install but the wireless card wont even show up in the hardware profiles and the wireless button wont even light up until you...
Install the "intel chipset installation utility" drivers from the hp site. it's under the subcategory "operating system - enhancements and QFE's
     http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=228&product=435618#N3612
THEN install the "intel proset for intel prowireless drivers" found in the same hp page under "software solutions". Dont confuse this with the wireless drivers themselves, this one says PROSET the other one doesn't and the other one is in the other category for "driver - network". Install the proset.
THEN go to the "driver network" subcategory and download the very first one, intel prowireless drivers and install it.
Realize that itll install, flash up a black DOS screen and dissappear. its supposed to that doesnt mean its broke hah. RESTART and you should be golden, make sure you push the wirless button if its ot already on.
If this doesnt work, then either you didnt follow my steps with attention to detail, or you have to install the broadcom driver last instead of the intel prowireless.
I just did this after a year of windows being reinstalled and the wireless not working. This. Works. Forget all the other threads that dont go into enough detail.
