I have Mountain Lion, but in Notifications, I want to display "20 recent items". Yet when I change the settings to allow it, it still only displays 5.
Because I get a lot of emails, I kind of need to know this. I think it sounds a lot like a stupid question though.
I would do that, but Mail only displays 5 incoming messages. If I'm busy working, I might need those later on and it would be a real conveince for it to still be there.

I'd suggest you get WiFi Explorer from the Mac App Store. For only $3.99 I find it well worth the cost for the ease of use and better info in relation to the built-in tools.

Hello! I used QuickTime for watch any videos on OS X Mountain Lion, but now, I'm passed to OS X Mavericks and QuickTime, when I open an .avi file, convert this in a .mov file. I'm sorry for my English, I'm French and I don't know speak English very well, but what can I do for QuickTime opens on .avi and doesn't convert to .mov?

I have the same problem in Mavericks, but I'd say, more important, with QuickLook.
Indeed Quicklook can't read avi movies anymore. Actually it always been the case, but with Perian we were able to fix it. The problem is that Perian is no longer available for Mac OS 10.9....
I'd assume that our only hope is Apple themselves... It would be nice from Apple to creat an add-on for quicklook to be able to preview the avi movies.
In regards with quicktime, you can download QuickTime 7 here:

and ask all the .avi movies to be played by QuickTime 7 and not QuickTime X (included into Mac OS).

I had facetime and I have mountain lion. However, after an update facetime disappeared. Doesn't it come with mountain lion? What do I need to do to find facetime? Do I need to repurchase it?
You need to find the Domain.sites2 file that contains your website data and double click it to launch the site iniWeb.

Is there a way to have internet access for my laptop through Verizon? I have a smartphone, but I don't want to rack up too much data. How would the laptop connect to the 4G? network? Thanks for any info:)
Rcshnoor nailed it, everything will depend on how they manage their data connection once the laptop is connected. It is perfectly feasible that they will have no issues with this new connection. However, there is nothing stopping the user from going above and beyond the data usage cap currently sufficient for the phone by itself. We cannot presume that any estimations on new usage will be accurate either.
Users should always be aware of the reality that revolves around data usage and the devices that consume them. Its no different than installing a 2nd waterline/hose on your house. Sure the hose will be fine if you remember to turn it off when you are done, but no one is going to stop you from letting it run all night if you forget. -

If you don't have the Apple ID and password, how did you get Mountain Liomn in the first place? Without the Apple ID and password, you'll need to buy it to download it.

I am new to mac, but i keep reading about Mountain lion. I just bought my Mac book Pro less then a month ago. my current software is OS X 10.8.2, Do i already have mountain lion? How do I check to see?
As the others have stated, you're on Mountain Lion with 10.8, anything. But you can check your version of the software by going to the apple in the upper left corner of the screen and clicking it and selecting "About This Mac". That will open a box that shows your software version. Once there you can click on "More Info" that will tell you everything about your specific mac configuration.

I have mountain lion OSX and parallels with Windows. Every time I click on a hyperlink in other applications it opens - some 7 Zip file explorer inside Parallels but doesn't go to Safari. Does anyone know solution?
I suggest that you run software update, after which you should have Safari 6.0.5 - then check Safari - Preferences - Privacy & see that 'Block cookies' is not set to Always.
Failing that - switch Safari extensions Off via Safari - Preferences - Extensions & test again -

Thanks for your response. I was told, obviously misinformed, that you needed to dl Lion prior to Mountain Lion, so thanks for clarifying that. I cannot dl from the internet as it is too slow and I have limited GB per month. I know, at one point, you could purchase a jumpdrive with Lion for those of us who have this problem or no internet access. I will check into that via Apple or try to borrow internet service from a friend and move my computer there.
