help! imovie media browser only has one option, "Mobile". other videos had option for medium and small. mobile option wont import into iDVD. other videos gave me the Medium option, why not this one? need answers ASAP!

    That is your answer then.
    Large is 960x540
    Medium is 640x480 (or 720x480)
    Mobile is probably 480x272.
It is offering you the sizes that make sense given the size of your source material.
As a trick, you might try this. In your project, put a short 640x480 clip in the project as the first clip of the project. Then keep the rest of the project as is. See if it will let you share now in Medium. It will not look as good, because there are not enough pixels to cover the Medium size, but it might work.

  • Streamclip files wont import into FCP

I used a program called Streamclip to turn my movie into an MOV file. But it wont import into FCP 6. Are there any specific codecs I should be using?

Use the codecs that you find in the FCP easy set ups.
    Those are editing formats.
My guess is that you want export to QuickTime NTSC DV 720x480, 29.97, aiff audio.
MOV means nothing; it is a container for the codec you selected.

  • Recorded TV in 16:9.  VOB file imported into Premier Elements as 4:3

I have imported a VOB file into Premier Elements.  It has been recorded in 16:9 format.  Unfortunately, when imported it converts to a 4:3.  Can some please explain why?
    Tony

In the Project Panel, you can Rt-click on the Clip and choose Interpret footage. There, you can change things like Frame Rate, PAR (Pixel Aspect Ratio), and can also change how an Alpha Channel is used, should your footage have an Alpha Channel.
It can be useful, especially with regards to the PAR. Since Frame Size is the same for NTSC 4: 3 & 16:9, except for the PAR to display "regular," or WideScreen.
Good luck, and do check out how well your machine handles the Menuing functions. That is where many DVR's and VHS to DVD, plus much software deviates from the DVD-specs. Because the first .VOB contains Menus, as well as the first part of the MPEG-2 stream, it is usually where problems will arise. This is covered in that article. With programs, such as Adobe Encore, the DVD's first .VOB WILL be 100% DVD-compliant.

  • ONE song wont import into iTunes?

Okay, so i have a trance mix that i want to import into iTunes. For some reason this song is the only one that won't import? It opens winamp and windows media player 10 but itunes just doesnt do anything when i try to play it. I've tried importing the whole folder, file, add a file, right click and open with iTunes program....nothing seems to work? Any help?

It is probably a WMA protected file. These are files that will run on windows and some other platforms but it is not supported by iTunes. I had the same problem and was very frustrated because it was one of my favorites, i purchased it from the Wal-Mart site and they use the wma format. Was just out of luck on that song!

  • After Effects Pre compositions import into Premier

    Hi
I'm trying to teach myself After effects and Premier so please be gentle if i'm asking a dumb question.
I created an after effects composition (lets call it Comp1) one of the layers in Comp1 is another Composition (lets call it Comp2). when i import the After effects project file into Premier it asks me which composition i want to import. I selected Comp1 and when i add that to my timeline it's blank. Am i doing something wrong? should i import both Comps?
Any help woudl be much appreciated.

You need to show us your composition by a screenshot and possibly include a flowchart. If nothing shows up when you dynamically link and AE comp to Premier Pro and nothing shows up there's something wrong in your comp or in your workflow.

  • Creating animations that will import into FCP

What are some program options for creating and manipulating objects like squares, rectangles and circles that will be used for creating animations to be imported into protions of FCP projects. The final output will be DVD's. Director MX2004 works very well for creating the animations, however when converted to a QT movie and imported into FCP, the animations look like a copy of a VHS tape. (Export settings were component video.) The animations are not acceptable when viewed on both a TV and NTSC monitor. Is anyone successfully using Director for such an application? I would certainally appreciate any suggestions.
    G5 2 X 2   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   G4 15" Power Book

I agree about the material that is coming out of Director being the problem.
The fundamental questions is "is Director capable of this kind of output?"?? I was hoping someone would tell me "this is how I did it" or "It is impossible using Director". All I know is there was some animation from Director in at least top movie a couple of years--I don't remember its name. So someone was able to get animation out of Director good enough for the film industry!
As for other questions you posed. The vector graphics I need can be created and manipulated as I need in Director. The whole project could be done in Director and outputed as a cross platform "projector" from a Mac or PC version of Director. However, there some issues with keeping things "in time" using Director. Using Director for the whole project is "plan B".
With regards to your other questions. In short, I want to animate some very detaliled shop type activities that are hard to video and understand. The animations will compliment the video and will show/simplify concepts needed to learn particular shop skills.
I want to make and market a series of DVD on these shop activites. Yes I know it is not a small project. I have been working on problems relating to everything from copyrighting to the insurance/liability aspects for several years. I also have the hardware & software to make DVD "demos" and examples to "show and tell". Now I need some help getting the stuff to do what I want/need!
FCP is the best option for "putting together" audio, video and amimation before making a DVD.
    Thank you for your input.

  • Spot Channels in CS6 wont import into Indesign and Incompatable with CS5

File imports into Indesign but without spot channels.
File will not open in Photoshop CS5
By changing the spot color to Pantone Solid and resaving, I was able to open in Photoshop CS5, however the channel still did not import into Indesign CS5.
I resaved the file from CS5 and the file imported correctly into Indesign.

You didn't use Pantone Solid, you most likely used Pantone+ Solid (which is a new book).
If you want to open that in Photoshop CS5, you'll need to copy the new book to CS5.
InDesign - they had several bugs relating to spot color channels, which they should be fixing.
But they too may need the new color book data.

  • Best way to create animation in Flash and import into Premier Elements?

Very short, 5-10 seconds, very simple animation. I would like to import it as my intro but I don't know what file format to export as from Flash, that would import well into PE? I am using Flash CS5 and PE 10. On a Mac 10.6.8...
    Thank you

There are basically three ways to adjust apparent Volume in PrE. This ARTICLE lists them.
If one needs to go beyond the limited adjustments, I would suggest doing that work in an audio-editing program. I use Adobe Audition, but there are many more, from the great, little, free Audacity (do not know if it's ported for Mac?), to various DAW programs, and also CyberLink and Magix.
    Good luck,

  • Some images just wont import into library

Nothing unusual about them - jpegs, short file names, but IPhoto is saying not in right format and refuses to import. Ruddy annoying.....

And Preview? It's important as it uses a different technology than PS. Also, can you compare the Exif data with a file that does import?

  • Large PNG wont import into Illustrator

Hello all, this is not a new problem, Ive posted on it before and it was solved, temporarily, here.
Briefly, when I work with transparent PNG's in illustrator, there seems to be a limit to the size they can be and still import successfully into Illustrator.
So here I am working on a poster that requires a large photo to be imported and when I drag it to the artboard, it just does import.
If I try opening it in a seperate illustrator document, it wont open either.
Apparently its a PNG thing because I have been able to successfully open the same image in JPEG, problem is, I need the transparent background for my layout.
Someone told me that InDesign would function better in for this, but I am not familiar with it.
Does anyone know about this problem, ran into it, or solved it?
I appreciate any help you could offer!

Same issue however I am using CS5

Again like Flex, as a designer I do some things in Illustrator, but the PNG size limitation is really hurting a current project, that is if that is the problem.

  • I have trouble in moving photos into Premier Elements 9

I am using Premiere Elements 9 on a IMac with 24ins screen and the latest operating system.Looking at my photos in Organiser or Photoshop Elements 9 they are of the original quality ,but when I import photos into Premiere Elements they are greatly degraded.I have tried deleting the programe and reinstalling twice,I have the programme on the original DVDs. Can anyone help.

Have a look at my FAQ to the right of this forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431851?tstart=30
As I explain in greater detail in my books, video is of a much lower resolution than most photos. So it doesn't matter how large the photo you drop into a video editor, you get roughly the equivalent of 640x480. That's video resolution. (If you're using hi-def, you get more -- but still nowhere near what you get in print photos.)
Using photos that are larger than 1000x750 pixels, then, not only overloads the program, but it's usually a waste of time too (since they take longer to render). You'll still only get 640x480 pixels (actually 720x480 non-square pixels) when it's converted to video.
Also remember to render your timeline (press Enter) every time you add a photo to it or there is a red line above your clips. When this red line turns green, you'll see a much better representation of what your final output will look like rather than a low-rez soft render.

  • SWF file wont import into Final Cut

I built TV commercial in Flash and I am trying to import it into Final Cut Pro. I tried editing it in After Effects but when I render it as an avi file it ends up being 1 gig....  I called adobe support but they wont give support, even if you pay them, to use anyone using a trial version of After Effects. Not sure I want to buy it if I cant use Flash and FCP wih it. Either way, if someone can tell me where I can go to figure out how to import this flash animation into Final Cut Pro that would great! In fact, if it is that complicated, I will pay someone to do it for me. This commercial needs to be ready for the stations yesterday.
I really hate Apple for making Final Cut Pro so difficult to work cohesively with Windows software.

You can't. Apple ceased support on their Quicktime Flash componet several years ago. Converting it an Adobe program or exporting it as a image sequence or clip from the flash authoring environment are the only serious options. Still, even that is bound to rules liek not producing correct results with scripts and things that require user interaction. if that is the case and you are running out of time, play the file in a web browser and do a screen capture. Not glorious, but assuming the machine is fast enough and the SWF has been authored properly with video use in mind (size and framerate), might produce a usable movie...

  • Mpeg1 video wont import into itunes for windows

This is a rather stange one.
I have an MPEG video that will run happily on MAC using either Quick Time or Itunes. Try the same on windows and one gets a 2048 error from quick time. itunes claims it's an unknown file type.
Real Player on window or MAC is perfectly happy with the file though.
I really need to get into itunes so that it can then loaded into a video ipod.
    Any clues ?
    thanks in advance
