I have multiple libraries......
I just ordered iLife '08 and wonder how it will handle importing my multiple libraries. Anybody know? Judy
Judy:
A very good way to handle multiple libraries is with iPhoto Library Manager. It can merge libraries and copy rolls or albums between libraries while keeping comments and keywords intact like this. I'd wait, however, until the developer has a chance to test it with iPhoto 8. I'll be doing that as soon as I get my copy.
Do you Twango?

I'm trying to use home sharing to share content between libraries so some of the combined content in a given library, can be synced to an ipad. Instad of having mulitple computers, i have multiple libraries on the same computer using two desktops. How do I share within the same computer?
iTunes must be running for home sharing to work. There is no way to have home sharing running simultaniously for two users on the same computer.
Simply add the media files using File > Add File/Folder option in iTunes. -
I have multiple libraries on the SAME computer.
I have multiple libraries on the SAME computer. How can I share these libraries? I do not see the SHARED tab when i open iTunes. Where is this tab?
home sharing works between two or more computers on the same LAN.
if you're talking about libraries on multiple user accounts on the same computer, peruse how to share music between different accounts on a single computer.
if you mean you're working with multiple libraries on the same user account, check out PowerTunes or iTunes Library Manager. -

I have multiple libraries. I would like to import one project into another library. How?
Select the project in the Library Inspector and export the project as library. Then import this library into your other Aperture library.
File > Export > Project as New Library
File > Import > Library

Help! I 'm using an old G4 powerbook, Mac OSX 10.5.8, iTunes ver 10. I have multiple iTunes libraries on an external drive. Everything was fine for a while, then all of the iTunes library files, i.e. iTunes Library.itl, xml, itdb, artwork folder, Media folder, etc mysteriously disappeared! Only the music files remain (thank god) So now when I start iTunes w/option key to choose a library, I can't choose any of them because iTunes won't recognize them. Because all the library stuff is missing. So can I re-create the library files? (I don't care if I lose my ratings)
Or should I create a new empty library on the external drive, then manually move all the music files to the Media folder in the new library?
I tried some stupid ideas like creating a new library just to start iTunes, then going into prefs and advanced, then under iTunes Media folder location, selecting the location of the old library on the external, to see if iTunes would then find all the music which is still there, but no workee.
I'm out of ideas, and I searched the archives.
Help! anyone?
ScottI don't know if this is me adding files to iTunes when the external wasn't connected
it is.
is it OK to just keep deleting that library on the Air?
i wouldn't - at least not until i
mount the external
point iTunes media folder location back to the external via preferences > advanced
consolidate my library via file > library > organize library
The ntfs hasn't seem to be causing any problems, but I've always wanted to know.
in order for your Mac to write to NTFS drives, it needs some help by installing e.g. the NTFS 3G driver. apparently that or something similar is installed on your Mac already. preferably, it would be formatted for Mac but then windows machines would need to have e.g. MacDrive installed to recognize the drive. -
how do we consolidate multiple libraries? My wife had 2 or 3 different apple id's she changed emails and forgot passwords. please help
Apparently, you cannot do that:
Set up your Apple ID for iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support
If you have made purchases using more than one ID, call Apple Support and state your case. I have heard that they may be able to do something to help you.
I do not know why Apple makes it so easy to create Apple IDs; they suggest creating them left and right, but make it very difficult to undo once a person realizes how bad it is to use multiple Apple IDs for the same purpose, for example, iTunes Store, or App Store purchases. -
Does it work well to have multiple libraries?
I just got a new iMac and am trying to sort out the best way to deal with all the images. I've got a library on my powerbook, and one on a Mac Pro at work and a library from my old G5 iMac.
One thought is to have separate libraries, and from this point on, create a new library for each year.
Anyone have experience with this, and want to advise me?
thanksYes it's perfectly possible.
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' to pick between them. The same menu gives you the option to Create a new Library.
Managing Multiple Libraries - including moving pics/albums/rolls and metadata between them - is greatly facilitated by using iPhoto Library Manager
You can only access one Library at a time, however. That means quitting iPhoto to search or view a Library. It can be inconvenient.
As iPhoto is good for 250,000 images in a Library, why would you bother?

I subscribed iTunes Match in the hopes that I could combine my two libraries remotely. Essentially I have two awesome collections of music, one at work and one at home. I wanted to be able to access my work tunes from my library at home, and vice versa if possible as well as from my iphone. Now that I've activated match on my work comp though, is it going to wipe out my library at home once I connect to match from my personal mac? I'm wondering if this will happen because when I associated my iphone with match, it told me it was going to replace my iphone music library with the match (work) library. I haven't associated my home computer library with it yet, because I'm worried it will wipe out the music I have there that isn't already in the cloud. How do I access what I've added to Match from my work computer, so that I can add it to my home computer, without losing what's already there?
when you open the app store scroll down to the bottom it will display the apple id currently in use, change it to your normal apple id email

Is there a way to have multiple libraries/iPods on iTunes?
I only have one computer, but two iPods for two different family members. One iPod has its library currently loaded on iTunes. The other library is backed up to the computer from another computer that broke. All of the folders are in the correct order and I have the .xml file. With out another computer, is there another way to update the backed up iPod and library as well? If I were to connect the non-active iPod, that would just erase what is on it and sync the songs from the other library, right?
Windows XPThere is an article about it here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300432
There is another alternative which seems clunky to me which is to set two separate libraries on the same account and switch between them by starting iTunes with the shif key held down and choosing the other libraries. This is only possible with iTunes7. -
I have multiple libraries in my itunes folder but none have the correct songs
there seems to be double up folders of Purchased on my Itunes, but none have the downloaded music i have bought.
I click on check available downloads and nothing happens.Sometimes people run up against this when they have iPhone-only apps in iTunes and try to sync them. They either do or dont get sync'ed over, actually moved I mean, althogh you will get indications that they are present. You won't see their icons, though, in any of the Home pages.

I have multiple libraries how can I drag and drop songs from either
I have 3 PCs that are all authorized to play my music. I have different music on different machines that I have downloaded from various places and or ripped from my own cds. I can from my home PC drag and drop music and movies to my iPhone. But on my work PC say if I download a new Album (not from itunes) and it is in my library, I want to be able to just drag it onto my iPhone so that I can listen to it at the gym. When I do I see a small red circle with the red slash through it and i cant copy it. I am tired of synching and want to be able to drag and drop from any of my PCs.. is this possible?
My mistake totally!!! I confused a new playlist folder with a new playlist.
Just wanted to pass that along. -
Can I have multiple libraries under different Windows profiles/logins?
My brother and I currently share the same Windows Vista computer. In a few months we'll separate as he moves on to an iMac, but for now if he wanted to setup under his own Windows profile/login another iTunes library can he? One obviously where he'd login under his own Apple Id and containing his own iTunes music library including only his purchases from the iTunes Store. Can this be done and done easily?
Yes of course. If your HD has space, make a complete copy of the entire library under his new login. Then, you can each delete stuff you don't want. From that point on, you can manage your own libraries independently.
When the time comes, he can copy "his" library to his new computer. -
Can I have multiple libraries?
My wife has has an ipod for a while and has all her music in her itunes library. I just got an ipod and would like to have my own library to store my music. Is this possible? I'm trying to keep from having to uncheck all of her songs every time I want to add music to my ipod. Thanks!
I don't think it is unless you have separate users on the computer. You know, how when you sign into Windows you have the option to sign in as different users? Well, I noticed the other day that my iTunes library didn't show up on iTunes when opened from my husband's username.
So try that. I hope that works
