I have *never* seen weblogs work on my Xserve.

Before I jump ship and go with another solution for content management, I'd like to make one last attempt at getting the weblogs to work on our Xserve running Mac OSX Server 10.4.4.
All I get when going to the https://server/weblog/ URL (yes I am using SSL) is an "Internal Server Error" with no other information. There are a few clues in the system logs. I posted on another thread about the problem here:

I have even done a clean install of OSX Server from DVD as recommended by Apple Support with no success in getting Weblogs to work. It was a good exercise in rebuilding the server but did nothing for the weblogs feature.
My current thinking is that I am setting something as a matter of course that is somehow causing blojsom not to work. Another possibility is that OSX Server starting with 10.4.3, which is where I started from, left out something that previous versions have but if this were the case then everyone would be having the problem.
If anyone can point me to the important configuration settings that may be causing this problem I would appreciate it. I have no problem editing sytem files if necessary but I would prefer to stick to standard Apple install files as much as possible.

I'd love to find a solution to the same problem.
I have some servers where it works and others where it doesn't.
Tried replacing directories from the working version to the non-working, adjusted permissions (as described in another thread) and still have the same problem.
No way I'm going to reinstall the OS to get it working, I would rather install blojsom stand-alone or use another CMS than reload an otherwise working server.
Searching threads, seems others have similar problems and there's no clear solution.

    If you can't CMD+ drag it off, try this...
    You've probably got a couple of corrupt preference files.
    Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    /Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
    /Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.systemuiserver.xxx.plist
    where 'xxx' is a 12 digit (hexadecimal) numeric string.
    This will reset your Menu Bar to the default, you'll need to go through System Preferences to reset the ones you need. (If they are already checked, uncheck them first and then recheck them).
    reboot

    Thank you so much for your response.  I had these photos backed up on iCloud but, had I not, its good to have an alternate solution as the one you suggested.  Actually, I went to the Apple store today and yes, you are absolutely correct Restoring in iTunes will result in permanent loss of photos unless backed up somewhere such as iCloud or other solution.  Well, what they did was restore the phone in itunes ( I did not have iTunes downloaded to my computer which is why it did not work when I went to do it myself, I needed to go to the iTunes site and go to the download iTunes button because my windows based HP laptop does not come with itunes already downloaded).  This retoration process took a while and I was forced to upgrade to the latest 7.1 iOS software which I was not too happy about -sometimes you like the way things work now :-)  Anyhow, they said this restoration request happens as a result of a software update (which I was NOT in progress of an update or doing an update) or sometimes when you remove the power cable too quickly from the iphone (which I do not recall doing this either but...). Since I had backed up on iCloud all of the photos were downloaded back on my iphone 4s.  Best of all was that my phone was back up and runnning and there was NO CHARGE at the apple store for this service of restoring my phone.  Well, I just wanted to share the results and I appreciate all the responses and support I received.  Thank you kindly.

    Very many thanks to you, Putaro!  Your answer provided the solution. It was a buggy plug-in that turned out to be the culprit.
    You're off the hook, Apple, and my apologies for stating that you let a dog run loose. You skated by this time, Apple. But I'm watching you.
    But again, Putaro's reference to the plugins I had installed over the years turned out to illuminate the problem. I have several plugins in my iTunes plugins folder, pretty much all designed to add more visualizer functionality. I removed all of them, and ALL of the problems I noted in my post went away, with full iTunes functionality restored.
    I began adding the plugins back to hopefully single out the culprit. Among the ones I had been using included fielder, G-Force, Timestrech, volcanokit, QuartzComposer, and Jax. I hadn't used any of them in a while - probably at least a verison or more back in iTunes updates, but iTunes continued to work with all of them installed. Currently, only QuartzComposer continues to work in iTunes 10.4. The rest no longer even show up as visualizer opitons, with one exception. Jax does show up, but does not work. AND THE PRESENCE OF JAX IS WHAT KILLED MY ITUNES.
    I looked into it and went back to the developer, and it appears that they discontinued developing Jax some time ago - evidently, it was buggy and crash prone. I remember after buying it, having problems with it - having never worked to its touted potential, but I didn't pursue it, and never uninstalled it. Leaving it in there caused all iTunes functionality to cease with the iTunes 10.4 update.
    If you've got Jax installed, consider removing it before updating to iTunes 10.4.
    My iTunes is now working right as rain, thanks again to Putaro!

    Not without correctly answering two of the questions. You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

    Make sure Readr is closed. Go to the Applications form, look for the Adobe Reader icon, double click on it, and follow the lead. Restart Reader when finished.

    Hm. I've never seen that in iCal.  In some other Applications the tilde "~" indicates a restore point or a before / after for a file.  My guess is there is a broken cache file in iCal.
    Try:
    Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats > Region. Region should be set to the country of your choice. Do not have it set to "Custom" as this can have unexpected results in the iCal window.
    If that doesn't resolve the issue:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
    Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    --- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard.  You will see "Library" in the menu.
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
    Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
    --- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.

    Your best bet at this point then is to contact iTunes Support and get them to straighten this out for you:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/Issues.action
    Select the options that best apply to your issue. You will have a chance to provide a written description before you submit. iTunes Support will get back to you via email, usually within 24 hours. Be sure to check your Junk/Spam email folder if you don't hear back by then.
    They should be able to sort it out for you...

    Hey all.  I have searched all over the net.  Found many users with this problem, and never see it fixed.
    The Problem:
    One particular website (xenforo.com/community) will load sometimes, but will not fully load most times.  It only partially loads.  This problem occurs on all browsers (Chrome, Safari, and Firefox) and on two Mac user accounts.  I have seen many people with the issue, they are not the same website that fails to load.
    The website works fine on other devices (PC desktop, PC Netbook, PC laptop, HTC Evo, and PS3) running through the same network.
    on the iMac, I have connected to the network via airport and via ethernet directly bypassing the router with the same results.
    I do not have any virus protection installed.  I was running Sophos, but ininstalled to see if that was the problem. 
    I do not or have never had Peer Guardian installed.
    I have looked at the activity monitor and see nothing running in the background that is interfering with the network.
    I have tried to switch dns servers using google's and open dns.  Nothing changes.
    System:
    iMac
    3.06 Intel Core Duo
    OS 10.6.7
    Internet:
    DSL
    Modem:
    Westell
    Router:
    Linxsys
    Like I said, I have searched and searched.  Many people have this issue and don't get it resloved.  Is there a fix?

    Hmm…try openDNS instead incase. Can you ping the site? Site works for me at the moment. Try another browser, try another user account on your mac.
    Does http://xenforo.com work for you?
    Does the site open in safemode? (hold shift on startup)
    Has the site ever worked correctly? What changes, if applicable, have you made to your browser or mac since the issue began?
    Have you tried to go the site without the router in the picture? Connect your mac directly to the modem to test.
    Do you have any security software installed on your mac?

  • HT1212 Please help! My Ipod wont connect to Itunes and has a thing I have never seen on the screen before.

    When I plug in my Ipod touch it has a symbol on it saying connect to Itunes. When I connect it to Itunes it says I need to unlock my Ipod before I can connect to Itunes but my Ipod touch wont even let me put a code in, it just has that symbol. I tried uninstalling Itunes and restarting the computer then installing Itunes again but nothing changed. I have never heard of this before so I don't know what to do!

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store         

  • Completer wants to make changes.  Type in your password to allow this.  I have never seen this before and it wants my admin. pw.

    I've never seen this request before.  I rarely shut down my computer, and when I restarted it this morning, the above is what I got in a small box.  I've tried to find "Completer" in help and communities but there is nothing.  I don't want to put in my password until I know it is valid.   I found on "google search" about Genieno which led me to a link in the Apple Communities.  There is nothing in my apps or computer with that name.  Anybody know what this is?  Thanks.

    There should be nothing native to the OS X which would ask for a password
    or  other information on a restart, unless accompanied by the traditional login
    box with your user name.
    There are adware or marginal products that could be called malware (bad)
    that would impose their presence and some items that could have been
    downloaded by accident or through some corrupted free software site; of
    those some could ask for and gain permission to go through your Mac
    and maybe even run in the background to do other nefarious misdeeds.
    You could see if startup in SafeBoot allows you access past that the Completer.
    Since I don't have a pile of helpful article links on how to resolve various issues
    I'd be looking them up one way or another.

    Today I spent ONE AND HALF HOURS ON THE PHONE, AN HOUR OF WHICH WAS LISTENING TO "WE ARE VERY BUSY BUT YOUR CALL WILL BE ANSWERED...." Eventually used the chat service and spoke to 2 very pleasant Irish people in Londonderry who eventually put me through to 'Billing' in India.  The Indian lady could see my account but not alloowed to tell me the number and would have to send a temporary bill number by mobile phone and email.  NOTHING has arrived and dont know her number to get back and if I did know the number it would be another marathon on the phone listening to "we are very busy"
    Thank G*D I am with SKY for EVERYTHING except emails. I MOVED TO SKY 3 YEARS AGO BECAUSE BT WAS NOT INTERESTED IN MATCHING SKY BUT THEN DID SO 3 WEEKS AFTER MY MOVE....  I KEPT MY BT EMAILS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS.  I am supposed to be on a PREMIUM email account at £1.60 a month. Emails work perfectly but trying to get through to billing involved clicking here and there to get a message "we are unable to change you to Premium email because you are already getting free emails as part of your account with BT. I have been with SKY for 3 years!!!

    BT's RAISON D'ETRE IS COMMUNICATIONS ...   It should be showing the nation, if not the world, how to answer our phones within 3 rings....   How does BT get away with the SHOCKING telephone service that has been the same for YEARS, ever since the1990's if not before that.  I have even phoned at 3am to get that monotonous "we are very busy" voice.
    Messages asking me to come back to BT?   Emails work fine. ANYTHING involving speech including queries, a nightmare.

  • Safari prompts me "To view this page you have to login to area "Restricted" on ...website" although I am not trying to access to that website and I have never seen that website before.

    Safari keeps prompting me to login to some unknown website that I have never been to, nor am I trying to go to.
    E.g. Tabs opened: Google.com, Apple discussions --> Suddenly prompted "To view this page, you must log in to area "Restricted" on staging.examiner.com:80"
    It prompts about 5 times before it stops and starts again when I open a new tab.
    The website that I am "supposed" to log into changes sometimes too.

  • Ipod touch 2g stuck in recovery mode like I have never seen!

    I bought an ipt2 at a pawnshop today as a side project. they said that it was stuck in recovery mode, and I thought it would be an easy fix...
    I have tried recovery restore
    DFU restore
    different computers
    I got it to update to 4.1. but when it was starting up it showed the apple logo for like 2 seconds and then went right back to the connect to pc screen =/
    I am so puzzled!

    Go download RecBoot, kick it in recovery mode and install the firmware manually. You can download it here.

    When you get done upgrading and for some reason you get and error or are stuck in recovery mode, use RB to get out of it. It might still work fine at that point.
