I have new hardware, now I need software, which CS? 3, 3.3 or 4?

Many thanks to you who contribute on the Forum, for giving me the foresight I need to make informed purchase decisions regarding hardware and OS for the best desktop editing experience. For the last weeks I have been gathering the hardware components. This is what my hardware looks like now:
AMD Quadcore 9500 (2.2 GHz)
8 GB DDR2 800 MHz ram
Nvidia 8800GT Graphics Card
Window Vista Home Premium 64bit
OS drive: 640 GB 7200 rpm 3.0/Gbs
Capture drive: 500 GB 7200 rpm 3.0/Gbs
Media drive: 1 TB 7200 rpm 3.0/Gbs (external E-sata)
Next, I have buy my Adobe software. When I started using Premiere (4.0?) there were no forums and technical support had its limits (severe limits). I was content with my old version of Premiere until my computer died. My new laptop came with Windows Vista and my old software will not load, so I will buy a full version of the new software (my old software, Premiere 7 does not qualify me to uprade).
I am not planning an Epic movie or getting paid to make independently produced commercials for television. I earn money to support my hobby shooting weddinging photography. I would like to upgrade my equipment and skills to make wedding videography a viable second income.
Currently I am shooting standard definition MiniDV and capturing, but I want to upgrade my Videocam (looking at DVX100B).
My belief from reading the Forum is that my hardware is sufficient to run CS3 or CS4. I have the option of purchasing CS3, CS3.3 or CS4. The economic principle of scarce resources and unlimited wants bears here as I want software, hardware and camera. The hardware purchase is done, I have a working camera, so priority now at the cross road of cost benefit analysis is regarding which version of Creative Suite. I can buy a copy or CS3 or CS3.3 for half the cost of CS4.
I have a full version of Photoshop CS3, so I can upgrade to CS4 Production for $1099. For not much more I can get Master Collection CS3.3, which would allow me create web content. After reading Jim's poll about whether CS4 works or not, I am unsure which choice would be best. What to do?

You can't draw the line at does it work perfectly and expect the results to mean anything. The bottom line for potential customers is can they actually produce and collect that paycheck.
When I left the poll the tally was 11 for whom it works, and only 2 for whom it doesn't. That's pretty encouraging. What the hell did you guys do after I left to make Jeffery have to ask this question?)

When I try to install Final Cut Studio, I receive the error "your computer does not have the hardware to run this software." I just purchased a brand new 13in macbook pro with 4gb of ram about 2 weeks ago. This computer is more then capable of running this software so what's the problem? How do I fix it? I just recently boot camped windows 7 on this thing just in case that matters somehow. Feedback? Comments? appreciate it...

There is no Final Cut Studio 5 (yet). The current version is Final Cut Studio 3, which includes Final Cut Pro 7. Final Cut Pro 5 is NOT compatible with IntelMacs. Version 5.1 was the first version to be compatible with IntelMacs.

What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.
Possible?

yes you can have multiple devices on one account just not in the same library before you sync it create a new library by:
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
Then add the songs you want
THen yuo can sync sync it by plugging in the usb cord the computer then plug in the ipod to the cord that it came with

Thank you for the question. I would need some more information regarding what mail program you are using and what type of email account. However, this could be related to the option in some mail client preferences to leave a copy on the server with POP accounts. If this option is not checked to leave a copy, mail may not appear on other devices. Try the steps in the article below to see if that solves the issue. This change will only work for new mail.

Had a bad IPS SSM-20 RMA for new one now license needs to be transfered?

Now the licence for the IPS on my account service contract is different from the one installed. the serial numbers are different? How can I get the one I returned via RMA and have a license for the new serial number?

Use your open TAC case to request the license be transferred. It should have been done automaticly when your unit was RMA'ed, but if not just ask your TAC engineer to do it.

Songs on pod but have new pc.. help needed..

I have about 480 songs on my pod but have bought a new pc so will I loose my songs on my pod if I add more songs to my pod any advice would be welcome rgds Paul.

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

Old computer died, did not have an apple id for it that I know of. I have new computer now, have downloaded itunes again. I had all my music backed up on my pc, so was able to put it into itunes. Though now if I add anything else to itunes, it wont sync

You can change the email address of one's appleID...
I'd recommend changing moms email to yours to get a good backup on the Mac
Then switch mom's back to hers
Then change your account to the same email you used.

Well there are a few good deck days in Iowa. My current Express and original silver saucer Apple Airports just don't give me good coverage outside the house. Time to add another Express or go large with an Extreme. Anyone think there is an advantage with range of the Extreme over the Express? I heard that using a second Airport slows the output of the piggy backed Airport way down. But that has to be better than a one bar signal does it not?

Olp PC crashed, new PC now how do I get my music back?

Have new PC now. Saved all folders from old PC HDD. Will install iTunes 7.6 on new PC but how should I get my music back from the old PC's HDD? My iPod contains music purchased from iTunes, plus music from alot of CD's I own. WOuld like to recover music from my old HDD rather than synching from iPod (which I don't know how to do anyway!)

Yes, just delete the duplicates but make sure to keep at least one copy!
Actually it might be easiest to start over - totally clear your library, and make sure this copy setting is turned off
