I have no forward or back arrows to change pages

I can not go to a previous page, I have to close the browser and start over again

Get back to the Customize window (you can also click on View | Toolbars | Customize to get there). You should see the various parts of your toolbar that are not currently deployed. Find the Back and Forward arrows and put your cursor on one of them. Click and hold down the button, and drag it into place on your toolbar. You can also drag the items around into the order that you are used to. Check out the other buttons that you might want to have.
This was a particularly frustrating upgrade, because unlike past upgrades, this one seems to have upset everyone's favorite setup, and the defaults are not the same as previously. Not very courteous of Mozilla.

  • When searching the web, I do not have a forward or back arrow on my tool bar. I understand from a friend, who also has Mozilla/firefox, has the same problem. He said that it is available on earlier versions???

I was wondering if I deleted Mozilla, and downloaded it again, if this would clear up my problem?? or would I still have the same problem? It is hard for me to believe that your program would not have this feature.
what appears on my toolbar is
    File...Edit...History...Bookmarks...Tools...Help
Search- web search -Xfinity.com (current open page)
Xfinity ( search ) IM, mail, voice mail, constant guard, XF channels, videos, free games, weather

You can go back more than one page in history if it exists by clicking it again.
If you mean the History drop down menu, then either left-click and hold or right-click them.

  • My location bar has vanished. I also don't have a Forward or Back arrow. I tried updating but it didn't help. Anyone know where it's gone? (I've got Version 7 and Windows Vista, I think.)

I can't think of any more details, but I used to have normal Firefox with a location bar, and now I don't. At the top of my page I have "most visited" and a tab bar. At the bottom I have "secure search". I'm having to get to all URLS by searching for them.

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • When I last up dated Firefox the forward and back arrows dissapeared. Now if I want to go back I have to go to History to get back to previous page. How do I get these forward and back arrows?

On MSN web sight there use to be forward and back arrows on the left hand upper side of page that let me go forward and back from page to page. Now the arrows are gone and I have to use the History or Bookmarks to move back and forth.
The arrows didn't reappear when I up dated to the new foxfire.

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable the following:<br><br>
    * Fun Web Products Plugin<br><br>
    * My Web Search<br><br>
Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.
Next, click the Extensions menu link (above Plugins where you are) and remove the "Ask Toolbar".
If the problem persists, please do the following:<br><br>
    #Click '''Help '''| '''Restart with Add-ons disabled'''.<br><br>
#In the next menu which appears, checkmark: "'''Reset toolbars and Controls'''".<br><br>
#Finally, click the button called "'''Make changes and restart'''".
Just in case you weren't aware of it, you can right click the Back or Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited. If you'd like to see the return of the arrow on the Back button, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
Last but not least, some of your plugins are seriously out of date which exposes your system to exploits. Please visit the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

  • Search bar missing; no forward or back arrows either.

I just noticed this yesterday.  When I use Safari, there is no search bar present, nor are there any forward or back arrows.  This means that when I want to go to a different page within the same site, I have to go back to Google, write in the same information as I just did, and then go from there.  Does anyone know how to correct this problem?  Thank you very much.

Hello.  No need for anyone to reply.  I just noticed that someone else had the same problem.  I just had to go to View and click on "show toolbar".  Duuhhh!  Thanks anyway.

  • Forward And Back Arrow Not Highlighted. Not Able To Go Back

Upper Left Forward And Back Arrow Not Highlighted. Not Able To Go Back One Page??

If it's the first page you have visited in that tab, both the back and forward buttons will be grayed out. Once you have visited additional pages in that tab, the buttons will become active according to your position in the history list of that tab.

  • Missing forward and back arrows

Sometimes Safari opens without forward and back arrows. Command-[ ] still works. Glitch or deliberate? Seems intermittent. . . Please advise

    Hi
Go to your View Menu>Customize Address Bar. From there you can drag the back/forward button to the Address Bar. Click "done".
Quit/restart Safari. Does the button still show up on the bar?

  • The green forward and back arrows under File and Edit disappeared after I downloaded the new Firefox Toolbar. How do get them back?

The green arrows for page forward or back at the top left under File and Edit disappeared after I downloaded the new Firefox toolbar (for 3.6) and were replaced by Most Visited, Getting Started and Latest headlines Icons, which I have little use for. How do I get the Original Toolbar back?

Is the Navigation Toolbar not being displayed? See below.
<u>'''Can't see the Menu Bar'''</u> (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)?
Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.
    ''(~~red:Linux & OSX see~~: [[Menu bar is missing]] )''
<u>''Windows'' Method 1.</u> '''''Hold down''''' the key and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M then release the key
<u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Tap the F10 key, while the Menu bar is visible, choose "View > Toolbars", click "Menu Bar" so that a check mark is placed next to Menu Bar
<u>''Windows'' Method 3.</u> Tap and release the key. The Menu Bar will be displayed; then choose ~~red:V~~iew > ~~red:T~~oolbars and click on ~~red:M~~enu Bar so that a check mark is placed next to Menu Bar
The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.

  • After I open FireFax 4 to my home page and then try to navigate elsewhere, I do not have access to the back arrow to return to the home page. What setting is causing this to happen?

    Toshiba Satellite Laptop
    Vista Home Premium
    Firefox 4.0 recently installed
Every time I load Firefox, my home page comes up.
After going to another page, I do not see the back arrow highlighted, and the only way to get to the home page, I have to click on the Home button in the upper right part of the screen and get a new tab. Annoying - yes. Practical - no. I even uninstalled 4 and reloaded with the same results each time.

Then you need a clean install.
First export your bookmarks to a html file. (Bookmarks/Unsorted bookmarks will bring you History page where you can export your bookmarks). Note down your add-ons too.
Uninstall the old FF using free software like Revo Uninstaller. This will delete all the root directories and registries of old FF.
Now download the latest version of FF and install it. You can re-import your bookmarks from your saved html file.
You may still have to do the fix in my first post.
Post here whether this worked for you.
